My son was home from college this weekend (his college is only about 30 miles away) and he told me that one of his professors told him that he saw a bf recently. That is all the information I have. Since my son is a skeptic he didn't press for details (!!!!). Anyway, he told me the name of the professor. Would it be wrong to contact him and ask him a couple of questions and encourage him to contact the BFRO? Also, the father of a good friend of my daughter's (26) had an encounter while hunting several years ago in Northern California but is very reluctant to talk about it. He lives right near me. I have met him but don't really know him but would really like to know what happened. Should I contact him about it or let it go and mind my own business? I don't want to make anyone mad..

extremely curious with a large dose of apprehension.. :willies: If I can get them to talk to me what questions should I ask outside of "what happened"? Should I tape record it?

Not initially.

Contact the person, introduce yourself in a way that appears down to earth (but serious), indicate interest, and simply ask if they've experienced anything.

I talked to some folks this weekend who live in hot sasquatch country. Unfortunately, I didn't have an opportunity to "interview" them. There were lots of others around. That's not a good place to get folks to talk of such things.

I wouldn't contact my son's profeesor without discussing it with my son first.

As far as the neighbor goes, If I were to run into him somewhere and we got to shootin the breeze, I might casually point the conversation in the direction of BF sighting and gauge his reactions before pressing him on it.

Just what i would do! smile.gif

If a witness contacts you, you simply question them as you see fit. If its a situation where you receive the report second or even third hand, the protocal is a little different. Whenever possible, have the person relaying the information contact the witness and give them your name and contact information. That way they're not broadsided by a call from someone they've never heard about asking about something most people don't just tell anyone. If the witness is willing to contact you it can also be a barometer of that person's willingness to recount their tale.

I don't know of any college professors nowadays that don't have Internet access.. If he's anything like most people with a computer that have any type of encounter before to long they will go online and type "bigfoot sighting" into Google just to get some peace of mind. This will eventually lead them to the BFRO. I think I'll wait a while and see if his sighting shows up.. I'm betting that it will (for all I know he may have already reported it). As for my daughters friends father (who, from what I understand has his garage filled with everything imaginable having to do with Bigfoot), I think I'll call his son, who I know very well, and ask him to give his father my number in case he'd like to talk about it with someone who wont think he's crazy... Thanks for all the great feedback. Gotta get off here now.. the news just said there's a tornado headed our way.. and in central California even! Go figure...

Hi Califb,

Would it be possible to contact the professor anonymously? ph34r.gif

I don't know, but I wouldn't do it due to the credibility factor. If I was to contact him it would be in person and not over the phone.

Hey Karen,

I'd think this is definitely worth pursuing. If the professor told your son, he probably told several other students as well. He probably wouldn't mind chatting about this with people who have an interest in the subject since he seems pretty open about it. Also if his sighting was recent visiting the scene of the sighting might turn up something interesting. I'd be interested in checking the area out if you can find out where it happened. If I can be of any assistance please let me know.

I would ask you son to relay the message to the professor that you would like to hear more, and ask if it is ok for you to contact him. I advise the same approach with your daughter's friend's father. Let someone they know and have already spoken to about the incident relay the message of your interest and desire to discuss. It may be a bit more comfortable for everyone.
