I was going back to the BFRO and GCBRO to see what might have been added now that it's a new month. I actually went back to see what was added for/during January '05 and saw there were two reports, a class A and a class B, for Pulaski county, which is a couple counties west of me.

The thing that caught my eye, was that one of these was along the Tippecanone River, which originates over HERE from Tippecanoe Lake in my township.

I've heard other verbals on sightings along the Tippy river as it makes it's way over to Lafayette.... first joining up with the Eel river at Logansport, and then joining the Mighty Wabash as it works it's way west and then south thru the state.

Just wanted to give you a heads up on that if you hadn't seen them.

p.s. I had OVER 1 gigabits of web traffic this last month at my site... got a letter about a week ago that I was at 75% of my allowance that day. I went over ON Jan. 31rst, but fortunately Earthlink didn't shut me down until midnight, since the policy is to suspend a site if it goes over it's allotment. Good to know "someone out there" is checking on Biggy in the Hoosier state. new_lmaosmiley.gif

Thanks for the update, Mike. I've visited your site several times and read your account there. I was interested to see the report from Spencer County as well, because I went to school with someone who lived near Chrisney, very close to where the report originated.

In some regards, I'm surprised more doesn't come out of southern and southwest Indiana than what we've seen (reported, anyway). A lot of this country is very similar to that in eastern Ohio where there seems to be a concentration of reported activity. While we don't have the thousands of acres of pristine wilderness here as many areas out west, there is no doubt still a considerable amount of suitable habitat. As a scout, I spent a lot of time in the backwoods of this state (if you could call it backwoods) and there are plenty of places to make yourself scarce out there.

I also find it interesting that a lot of the reports from our state are of events that occurred 25 years ago or more. There really isn't too much that is very recent. Of course, I really don't expect to look out my back window and see one waltzing across the cornfield, much less the .6 acres of woodland that makes up my backyard. Couldn't get that lucky. unsure.gif

"I also find it interesting that a lot of the reports from our state are of events that occurred 25 years ago or more. There really isn't too much that is very recent."

And very likely it's because this state was still relatively sparcely populated up until about 25 or so years ago. Rural people tend not to tell their "stories" as much as city people might. Having grown up a "dumb country boy", you don't want to risk ridicule from the comminity. What you're getting now are the sons and daughters being willing to air these incidents that happened in their childhoods.

I live not that far from the Hoosier National, along with the Brown County State Park, YellowWood, the Morgan-Monroe State Forests, lotsa' wood and ground. There are (as a friend of mine once quipped) houses on nearly every hill around here now. I am starting to agree with the one regular that feels the things just wouldn't be here. I think this way because of the amount of population, just too many people around here now.

If you dig though the various boards and groups, there are dozens of sightings reports from here in Indiana. But rare few are credible. Case in point being the recent one where someone reported they were feeding the thing. If they exist and were as easy to attract as a stray dog, well, we wouldn't be worrying much about proof. Would we?

Hello,
I am new here. I am from Indiana and have followed BFRO for a long time. There sure have been a lot of posts for Indiana on BFRO in Feb. Several more were posted today including one from Hamilton County that really surprised me. Yes most of these are really old, I wish they had more that were in recent times.
GuyInIndiana
Hey Hoosier Hunter .... what part of the state you from? North/South/East/West? Any experiences to share?

I now live near Indy. I have lived in central and southern Indiana all my life.

About 10 years or so ago, I was camped at Starve Hollow Lake in Jackson Co. I was nightfishing from a rowboat about 11:00pm as I recall. The boat slowly drifted toward the shore on the far side of the lake. This area is part of Jackson-Washington St. Forest and is heavily wooded. An animal was in the water about 50 yards away in the darkness. I apparently startled it. There were several splashes as whatever it was lunged toward the bank and ran into the woods. There had been no sound at all prior to this. After it got on land, I heard underbrush rustling as it ran away. Now in all honesty, it MAY have been a deer, I never actually saw anything in the darkness. That is why I say "not sure" to the question of an encounter. I have on many occasions heard "tree pounding" late at night in the hardwood forests of southern Indiana. new_whistle.gif

Hey Mike! Yes, I've been watching the Indiana reports pop up with interest. It is discouraging that some are so old though...

I am still looking forward to my upcoming weekend in Kosciusko county...that is if my family's health holds up - two of us were down with flu last week, Hubby and Son are "trying" to be sick this week icon_bang.gif I am staying hopeful and have some basic supplies/gear ready and waiting!! If not this weekend, we certainly have all spring.

I will update at the earliest convenience.

Hey Mari...

I was just over there in your 'neck of the woods' a couple week ago.

If you make it over here this weekend, just look for a white GMC suburban with "Indiana Bigfoot Awareness Group" on the back side windows. And "YES!" it really does get me a lot of inquiries.

Have you seen BFRO Report # 6094 posted 2-14-05? Yet another Hamilton County, Indiana sighting from 1973. It is interesting that this particular area had so much activity at that time.
GuyInIndiana
Exactly... it seems historicaly, that certain areas, in different decades, had somewhat consistent activity... when viewed over the long haul.

Kind'a like what I'm concluding about up here in the north. Nothing year 'round.. nothing all the time, but from season to season, broadly ranging, there IS activity.
billgreen2005bigfoot
hi indiana sasquatch researchers are you going to put photos of the areas of the sightings. im just wondering. smile.gif thanks bill green
GuyInIndiana
Hey Bill... none of those are anything we have anything to do with... they're BFRO and GCBRO reports... not really anything we have any control over !

I grew up in Kosciusco county in the 70's and 80's. Went to college down south in Bloomington and lived there for about 10 years. I don't ever remember hearing any stories about bigfoot. Northern Indiana is too populated in my opinion to have good habitat. The wild areas that remain are broken up and small, not to mention every square inch of them are hunted like crazy in the fall. Southern Indiana, on the other hand, is a possibility. I wish I knew about the sighting history in Hoosier National Forest when I lived there. The forests around Bloomington always did give me the creeps. Something never seemed quite right.
