My sister just called from ******, AK and a guy who lives in a lodge in the middle of nowhere in ***** found two dried out carcasses that were described to me second second hand as being approximately 21/2-3 feet tall dark course hair cover with big jaw. They were under the snow and discovered when the snow melted, it sounds like last spring. My brother in law talked to a guy (I know) that just went and saw them a day or two ago. My BIL seemed to get the impression from the guy that these were baby Sassies. The guy who found them seems to think they are Kushtakas. Now I don't even know if I spelled that right but it is an old legend up there but they are supposed to be half seal half man or something. I think these need to be examined. The man refused to give them to fish and game guys that may have looked at them. He is convince they are Kushtakas which for all I know is yet another name for Sasquatch. If know one else goes up I am going to. I can get up there next weekend maybe sooner. Its quite expensive to fly into ****** but I have another BIL who works for Alaska airlines who can get me up there.

Note: Due to an ongoing investigation, all references to the specific location of the "babies" has been removed. - Bip

Wow very interesting crypto

Can't find much on it especially from Alaska

Seal people? Mermaids? – Fact or fiction?

Scottish folklore abounds with tales about ‘Seal-people’, ‘Selkies’, ‘Silkies’, Finn-folk, and Mermaids. All of these appear to be a continuum, from seals that can become human, to beings that are half human and half fish. So deeply engrained are stories about Seal-folk amongst the folklore of the western and northern isles, and with families such as MacDonald actually claiming descent from them that it’s hard to dismiss ‘Seal-people’ as entirely fanciful imagination. Whilst most tales have certainly been embellished by the seanachie or story teller, at their roots perhaps there lies a distant truth of an ancient people who did appear to be half-human and half-seal, or ‘seal by day and human by night’, a people who were as at home on the sea as the seals they resembled.

Research suggests that at the end of the Ice Age the earliest people to reach these shores were small people arriving in skin boats, probably very like the kayaks used by the Sjo-Sami ‘Seal-Folk’ or Finn-Folk who are Norwegian Lapps living in Norway's Arctic islands today. So similar are the attributes of the seal-folk of Scottish folklore and these modern day ‘seal-folk’ in their sealskin kayaks that the question is posed as to whether the names are interchangeable? Could these stories, handed down from generation to generation, be fact rather than fiction?

Ok this is what I am going to try to do. This man lives in the middle of nowhere and doesn't seem to interested in parading these things out. You can only get to his place by boat. So I am going to see if I can't get my sis or BIL up there to go get pictures so I can see what we are looking at. What makes me think we have something here is that these mountain guys know all the wildlife up there and if he is thinking this a manlike thing then something is going on. He would know if it was a bear, wolf, whatever. If this dude can't call it anything but a koostikah then I think this needs to be looked at. My BIL is a fisherman and he can get there with his boat but its a nine hour boat trip from where he is and I don't know if he will be able to do this anytime soon. The carcasses are bones with some skin and hair still attached. The teeth were described questionably big canines so I don't know but I will let you guys know anything I find out. If anyone wants to investigate this that maybe lives in that area please let me know.

Don't know why, but this one strikes a chord with me. Good luck, keep us informed, I have a strange feeling that t his may be big.

[ fingers crossed mode] Man I hope this turns out to be somethin'.wish i could go...Good luck Leeloo

Leeloo do have a GOOD time while you go. That will make the trip doubly fun. Its hard to beat a good adventure situation but when its ALASKA AND an adventure .... wow. We are thinking of you. It sounds really awesome that local guys are looking at this as something different, odd, etc. Hope you can get it cleared to get in there.
Leeloo Dallas
I want to go up so bad, but its not super feasable right now. I have 4 children after all and a hubby who works constantly and can't let me go off galavanting around for a couple of days. He thinks I am a wack job too, so that doesn't help any. I find it so interesting that he has had these for almost a year it sounds like. When it first came up there was a death that hit the town hard and overshadowed everything. A local guy had died out hunting, can't remember what he died of icon_eek.gif Might have been undetermined. icon_eek.gif Anyway the guy has a family I guess and they live out in the boonies and stay reclusive and don't come out much. I have heard from my BIL that he knows a couple of guys who have had sightings up there. He has lived in ******* his whole life and has been hunting/fishing since he was 11 or so. He has never seen anything that I know of. I always keep my eyes open when we are up there. It would be really cool if it doesn't end up being a wild goose chase.
RobUstes
Nine hour boat trip ??? icon_eek.gif

Uhm ... wouldnt a sea plane be quicker??? And prob cost about the same in the long run .
Leeloo Dallas
My BIL thought of that because he could get there in a helicopter if there was a good place to land but he doesn't think there is. Its thick up there, its all muskeg and trees and brush. Unless the beach is big enough a copter can't land. He will probably want to go in his boat and not draw attention to himself if you know what I mean. He has never really taken me seriously about bigfoot but he does seem interested in these bodies enough to get me pictures, I think, but I am not sure this recluse guy will give the bodies up. I hope one day he will see a bigfoot. He goes way out when he hunts. He gets flown up to the boondocks to got dall sheep hunting. He is bound to see or hear something someday. There was also some talk that the recluse guy gave a piece of one of the bodies and the fish and game couldn't identify it. I really want to get first hand info from the guy. I wish I could go up but I am hoping someone on this board is from that area. Longshot though because its a small town on an island no less. It a big enough fishing town though to have planes in and out of their tiny airport when its not foggy. My sister will get him to do it though. She is one of my bigfoot allies and doesn't think I am a nut. smile.gif

Hmm.. it sounds tantalizing, for sure. Infant mortality among animals is very high, and so the chance of finding dead baby Squatches would seem to be higher than the chances of finding an adult carcass.

Perhaps the mother had buried them in the snow? Or they became lost and died?

According to the BFRO FAQ, the mothers are thought to be very devoted, much like other primate mothers, and are unlikely to just leave dead offspring lying around. That's what makes me speculate that they had been buried.

Do you know if this guy still has the remains in storage? Or did he just leave them there?
A year later, there might be little or nothing left, or the site might be deep under snow again...

Here's hoping, though. wink.gif You might have the zoological find of the century.

I agree, robo... and I hope so as well!!!

The only thing that I'm having trouble with is....

"2 babies?"

"2 Bigfoot babies?"

"2 Bigfoot babies, dead and found at the same time?"

"2 Bigfoot babies, dead and found at the same time in Alaska?"

Curious...

Bears are well known to have multiple young and leave their young for extended periods of time... I wonder if the same is true of Sas? icon_confused.gif
Medic 410
RB. I think we should consult the definitve experts in Tennesee on this multiple birth question. Hell she even baby sat for a bigfoot. icon_confused.gif

I Am such a trouble maker.I really need help.
RobUstes
Didnt we cover the multiple birth thing on another thread ??

Yes, primates (includeing human) can have mutiple babies in one birthing.

Perhaps , the mother passed away and the relatives couldnt find the babies? or the babies were suffering from some illness (bacteria, virus, birth defect) and dies at roughly the same hour.

It could be a misidentification anyway. Seal men ? flippers and large jaw? Sounds like it could be baby walrus or something. Things frozen tend to distort, esp if they are decomposing at the time.
When an animal dies and the air is close to freezing, not too low maybe above 30 deg f , the inner decomposition will create heat, in which, the muscle tissues will rot away, leaving a void under the skin tissue. When the frozen skin thaws slightly, it cant support its own weight, and collapses , leaving a very odd looking animal indeed.

robo
Yeah, i've been thinking about this since my last post, an hour ago or so. (BTW - this BF obsession is getting in the way of my life!)

I have one very exciting idea, and another one that makes me doubt this whole thing.

I'll start with the exciting idea:

I at first thought it was odd that a primate type thing (if that's what the remains are) would be mistaken for a seal-like thing. Especially since i assume the guy that found it was an experienced Alaskan outdoorsman, and probably would have some idea what a seal skeleton looked like.

But then i decided to find out for myself what a seal skeleton is like. I found a great high res photo of a seal skeleton: link is here (it's a Greenland Seal admittedly, but i couldn't find a pacific seal skeleton pic, and i'm guessing the basic morphology is the same) That was when I got a weird feeling. The skull is like a bear or dog, but we're only interested in the bottom half of the skeleton, since my assumption would be that the half-man, half -seal creature would be expected to have the torso and head of a man, with the 'lower half' of a seal.
Look at the rear flippers. They resemble very large, wide human feet. The 'legs' as well, are short in proportion to the body, and rather robust looking. Also a Sasquatch trait. It's very possible that the guy saw the skeletal remains of young Sasquatch legs and feet, and 'identified' them as the lower skeleton of a seal. The upper skeleton looked more human, to his knowledge, and thus the half human/half seal conclusion.

Makes my skin a little tingly icon_confused.gif

On the other hand:

One thing bugs me about the veracity of this 'report'. You say that he'd shown this to the Fish and Game people. Now, if these remains in any way resembled human remains (and if they are Squatch remains, or even 'human head/torso, seal flippers' remains, they'll at least look somewhat human), then the police would have been all over this.
There is no way that Fish and Game agency employees are going to come look at what might be two decomposed child corpses, shrug their shoulders, and leave them in the custody of some backwoodsman.
If there was any chance at all that they were human, the police would be investigating. And it doesn't sound like that's the case.

So what ever this guy's found, if it even exists, might not look humanoid at all. Which kinda rules out Squatch babies.

Nevertheless, i hope i'm somehow proved wrong! smile.gif

ps. there are plenty of plausible explanaitions for two dead babies. They might have been twins, which explains two of the same size. The mother may have died, leaving the two to die of exposure together. Or they may have both died within a short time of each other from disease or some other disorder.

icon_confused.gif didnt i just say that ? ( i know, you were typing, great minds think alike, or great twisted minds .. )

Good link !! Yeah, those do look close to human feet, but remember, somewhere down the line, we are related to seals, or they to us, some common ancestor who said "Ya know. this all this walkins killin me, i'm gonna go for a swim" and never came back.

Who knows ?? Think i'll wait for Sher's BIL to come back with pics biggrin.gif

I just accept it. biggrin.gif
Sasquatch , according to Native American traditions, was a bearer of news, of life change.

He certainly is. My life sure changed. You can fight it, and go crazy, or accept it and be mellow about it.
Assume the Lotus position, light some incense, chant, and mellow out. Smile at the big hairy friend as he peers in the window.
Share marshmallows and chocolate with him. He is now your friend, and companion, not only while you sleep and he's watching over you, but during the day, while he sleeps, you think about him.

*somewhere up the canyon, a lone flute plays some mellow lonesome music, wafting down the ravine, softly bouncing off the walls, caressing your ears*

and its cool. 8)

Ok here is the latest. The guy does still have two sets of remains. When he found them they were lying next to each other, one on its back with the arms crossed over the chest like we do with dead people. icon_eek.gif The other one was cuddled up next to the the first one. The man didn't show them to Fish and Game he sent them a piece of one. I guess when he first found them he only took the heads. Whatever they are, they are not small not babies more like 3 ft tall like juveniles or maybe just above a toddler?? icon_confused.gif Then he went back for the rest which was a little scattered by then but he got a lot of them. This guy has lived up there for 20 years. He does not know what these are. That is the kicker for me. I'm sure he knows most of the regular wildlife up there so if he can't recognize them, icon_eek.gif He thinks they must be Kushtakas because they are the legend up there that I can't seem to find info on. If anyone knows anything please tell us. There was some story of mad indian ghosts and some weird seal/man type animals. I am getting worried that we will never get pictures. Its such a long run for my BIL in his fishing boat. Alot of fuel with prices through the roof. The guy has no phone and lives in the middle of nowhere which gives credence to the whole thing but makes it hard to gather evidence. Again anyone on the board life in Southeast Alaska??? Let us know. Post here.

Here is a map of Southeast Alaska. You can find Petersburg pretty easily. Just northeast of it you can find Thomas Bay. I found out by reading this old report that what I was calling "Koostikahs" is actually supposed to be "Kushtaka" and it is the Tlinget indian name for bigfoot, so this guy does think that what he has found are juvenile bigfoot. See the story here http://www.n2.net/prey/bigfoot/articles/alaska2.htm that takes place in Thomas Bay.

Well it sounds like they are also known as Otter-people by the Tlinget tribe and I am not sure which is correct. They are also supposed to be spirits so I don't know. I have to study some more.http://www.eskimo.com/~kwright/Misc/otter.people.txt

Sorry forgot the map. Also look Northwest of Petersburg and you will find ****** where the guy lives. You can see how far it is from Petersburg. Not way far but its nine hours in his fishing boat that goes about 9-12 knots and hour I think. Anyway, he will be embarassed I think if we send him money but I will see what my sis thinks. I think he is halibut fishing right now but maybe one of his upcoming fishing trips will go up that way. I will keep prodding for sure.

Just trying to get ya'll wound -up...

But I didn't say impossible... just curious is all... of course primates can have multiple births, but they are not common.

Multiple births are more common with bears, IMHO, because of their higher mortality rate....

I'm talking odds.. like in Vegas... where you go to get sticky....

You say you want statistics?

Ok, make you a deal... as soon as someone comes up with a scientifically researched data set on statistical averages of probability of multiple Sasquatch births... I'll go on google and do a search for statistics on multiple bear births...

That's fair, ain't it?

Medic... please keep posting, you make me feel normal.... laugh.gif

robo... it only gets worse.... smile.gif

And I'll pitch in $20 as well... just let me know where... and tell your BIL not to be embarassed... we want to hire his boat is all.....

I haven't contacted anyone except you guys because I really have nothing right now. My BIL and all the fisherman in town are landlocked right now because of bad weather. He was thinking he would get up to ***** in May because his fishing takes him right there where the guy lives. I told him about the donations and he sees that we are all waiting with bated breath here so maybe he will try to get there earlier. May is two months away!!!! We can't wait that long! The remains aren't going anywhere I guess it just sucks. One thing is that this gets a little more credance to not be a hoax because no one up there is in any hurry to have scientific attention or any other kind of attention. smile.gif

However, the silence on this thread is deafening. Good thing I didn't get my hopes up too much, and I sure hope something comes out of all this. I'd have to find a place that sells plucked crow carcasses, because I'll be owning a lot of skeptics and "ridiculers" crow dinners with all the fixins.

Ok here the new scoop. I talked to BIL for a good while. He thinks the guy would clam right up and deny having anything if a stranger showed up at his door. He is a reclusive guy who lives out of the way and doesn't like to be bothered. BIL is known of by the guy and he thinks he wouldn't mind him coming to see and may be able to get a piece of it and take some pics of the skulls. So you guys are just going to have to sit tight I think until the end of April. sad.gif icon_bang.gif Another good piece of info I got is that the recluse guy did for sure give Fish & Game a piece of skin/fur. I don't know what they have done with it. If anyone wants to try to get in touch with the F&G up there and see whats up, maybe we could get them to give it to a trusted group that can test it against other alleged BF stuff that came up unknown to see if they match. I am going to try to get in touch with BIL's brother via email who works for F&G and see if he can get info on it. I will always give updates as they come in of course. I am also open to any ideas and comments, you guys are the true researchers, I am just a devotee researcher wannabe. So let me know what you think I should do or if you think I am on the right track or what.
robo
Isn't there some 1 million dollar reward for a Saquatch body? Would that encourage the guy to open up? wink.gif

I can totally understand a solitary guy living in the woods not wanting hordes of strangers turning up at his door... After all, that's probably the reason he lives out there in the first place. But there must be some way to get the bodies. Does he have any particular reason for wanting to keep them? Would he be willing to sell them (with your BIL as the 'buyer')?

Just some ideas. I'd really hate to see this opportunity missed, as has happened so many times before.

-robo
Leeloo Dallas
The million dollars just might do it. I hadn't heard of that. He just wants them because he found them and he thinks they are unique and unknown. He thinks they are Kushtakas. Which I explained in a previous post. I think he just thinks they are cool and he has definitely talked to people about them and showed them to a couple of people and gave the F&G some of it. He just might be waiting for that jackpot. icon_razz.gif
