These two track casts as I recall, were taken in the 80's in SW Washington State (Blue Mtns). They are the same foot, from the same animal. Imagine, that you were falling down a muddy slope onto your face and you put your hands out to stop yourself, with your fingers spread wide apart! That is exactly what these casts show, only with a toesplay. As the animal does a 'heelslip' it stops itself, by splaying its toes wide apart! It really shows the extreme dexterity of the toes on these animals! These casts are from the collection of a good friend and my old field research partner KL, a great outdoorsman! Let me see you do that with a pair of carved wooden feet!

Just thinking of my toes splayed to stop my fall,HURTS!
That is a good point to ponder. How difficult or unlikely would it be to hoax a track of this kind.
Unless the guy is really bad at wood carving.

Wow !! Toeplay 2 looks like it HURT !
These are both left foot prints, correct?
I'm looking at #2, with the huge halux, wondering ... how much of that is slippage, and how much is toe ?
Oldtimer, could i please get a copy of those emailed ??
Thanks

Those are the kind of tracks like to see.(yeah like I know alot about it or something  ).ones that seem to have to account for anotomical oddities that would be unlikely, as something a hoaxer would think of.It sure adds a lot to the credibility of the find.

Now those are some groovy tracks, oldtimer! Did your friend notice any other tracks near these that were shaped normally? Was there a track to follow? The reason I ask is, if the tracks nearby return to normal shape, lacking the splayed toes, then this is a very very very very cool set of casts!
