conundrum: a seemingly unsolvable problem, unless you're a redneck and have confused the word for a prophylactic. in any event, this isn't meant to start any pissing contests. my conundrum is this. whenever a person steps forward with info, they of course are expected to offer up proof if possible. now a ridiculuos claim like shape shifting, crossing dimensions or squatch having a taste for midnight marshmellows and pooping in barns is sure to be questioned. but what if the claim is, " i saw one whose eyes reflected turquoise blue and i have seen others that dropped to all 4's." i think a person who has claimed to have seen 1 or 2 may be safe somewhat. but what if this person claims they have been looking since 1969 and has seen as many as 8. would this person then be scrutinized to the max and then hung out to dry? i think so. especially here. why? because this person essentialy is unheard of to a large extent. why would a person with this much experience want to come forward with well meaning intentions to verify or confirm an assumption of squatch possibly being homo with nothing more than their word when they are going to get ripped for being nothing more then persisitent and lucky enough to have sitings and observations that were never reported or confirmed?

You sir have hit the nail on the head. I have previously stated that some very experienced people refuse to post here because of the skeptical attacks. Too much of a good thing will cause damage. The more and aggressive and degrading attacks have the effect of stifiling the presentation of new or contributory info. Thus the destruction of a good forum. No this is not a bitch or a criticisim of anyone in particular.

Its not necessarily the claims themselves Fletch.. Its the sheer amount, without validation.
Lets face it there are some who can't step out thier back door without tripping over a bigfoot or 'evidence' of ones passing. more to the point lack of evidence and its not anything like 8 claims over 30 years.. Its more like 8 claims every month or so, at the very least reports of ongoing activity over a short time span with little or nothing to back it up other than thier 'word'.

Ever string all of those encounters together and read them carefully ? If not you should try it.. seriously.. its quite amazing in some aspects. And gives a whole new cause to questioning the creditbility and veracity of the person , making the claims. Yeah.. we know its all you ever say.. over and over and over..Name a name ( or the several as you'vre alluded to) ? How do you know they're any more experienced than I am ? Or any more experienced than anyone else on this forum? You don't!! Its that simple. And if you have no skepticism or can't stand to have what you've sighted questioned it is indeed better to just STFU. Cause thats one of the things that makes your credibility drop to below nothing. Degrading ? See above. If you reported it you should damn well be prepared to answer the questions . If you think everyone is just going to take them at face value because of your 'word' or the say so of 'so and so' then quit move on to tiddly winks and call it a day. Oh please .. You've done nothing but critisize this forum and the more skeptically minded from the beggining here and especially elsewhere. This forum is what it is, BECAUSE of the people who don''t take any report at face value no matter the source, or at least it was. Weren't you done here and not coming back btw ?

I make a suggestion or statement that i think will make this a better board and you get your shorts in a wad. How is it you think your statements have more value than mine. I think maybe you ought to have that person write their encounter(s) on paper first, then ask the tough questions and see if passes inspection. You 've been in the field longer than some of us around. You would know how to handle it. You know Bullshit when you hear it.

Like I said in another thread, be prepared to defend yourself on the bff if you are bold enough to claim you have had a sighting or an encounter. And if you do share your experience, pick your words carefully. I found out the hard way the forums is not a bf support group. You live and you learn. Am I mad, no just a little wiser. My opinion(warning) is meant towards newbies who may have an encounter or sighting and are eager to start their first in the field or sightings thread. Unfortunately, they may not receive the input or encouragement they might have hoped for from some folks around here. Yeah there are definitely some people who seem to have some flaky stories but a lot of others seem fairly credible. I CHOOSE to support those that seem to have credibility. But I wouldn't verbally bully anybody just because their report doesn't match my standards, I just leave them alone. Hope that clarifies my point.

I was just about to suggest that you put this back into your signature Belle, since I think sig lines tend to get overlooked at LOT and that most people here don't truly know what kind of person Versatile is or what he's about unless they read Kiamichi.... Then I saw that you used it in your post, so....

There are members of this forum who have had multiple sightings..yet, have not been hung out to dry.
If folks are willing to make amazing claims..of hunts successfull, of shooting them off of their porch, of having them accost them every time they set foot in the woods..
Yet, they have no decent answers to even basic questions..and, the least ammount of uncertainty of their claim, is ment with derission on THEIR part("armchair researcher")....
Then, the blame for any negativity rests soley with them.

Well, for one thing I think it's a bit unrealistic for a person to say he saw a bigfoot and expect everyone accept it as genuine. If I had a good, clear sighting, it would probably convince me, but I would not expect it to convince anyone else.

Another factor is presentation. An acount that reads like a solid, sober report instead of a sensationalistic tabloid article is going to be taken more seriously. So will an account in which someone saw a bigfoot walk across a clearing as opposed to someone who was taken captive by bigfoot and impregnated.

I'm sure if you were wearing a dress Jimf, he might have something to say!
