I own a copy of the Ancient Mysteries special entitled "Bigfoot". I have watched it over and over again, and for the life of me can not figure out what I'm supposed to be seeing in a certain video. It's the one with the two guys filming in the dense underbrush. He says that the bigfoot is looking right at them, then he starts to cry as he's filming. I just wonder if any of you have seen something that I'm not. What's your take?

I was one of the guys on that hill that day. There are two pieces of footage, one showing eyes, which I shot which was at the top of the hill, and the other which was shot by the father of one of the two kids who had a sighting a few weeks earlier at the base of the hill we were on. We were heading up the hill (each with a video camera) to look for print evidence on the abandoned logging roads along the rim of the valley. The footage that "Ancient Mysteries" showed (the non-eyes one) was not what we had referred to concerning what happened at the top of the hill. When the original footage was sent to the producer, the father didn't cue up the tape to what happened some 1 1/2 - 2 hours after we began the climb. On the way up, the father thought he noticed something and pointed and videotaped it...the producer assumed that was what we referring to. When "Sightings" asked to interview me about what happened on the hill that day I did it on the condition they show the footage we were referring to..they did and I think they did a pretty good job of outlining what I believe to be a head, shoulder and upper arm of a sasquatch. For more details you can check here...in that thread is also a gif showing what I just referred to.

Wasn't that the sloth looking blond bigfoot?

I also saw a show, I think it's the same trip, where there's like a dead tree or log and a bigfoot is laying down and you can see a scary looking face, red eyes I think, and also feet with thick claw like toe nails.

Then there was a visual analysis of the bigfoot laying down.
ByondByond
i recorded that too
you seemed like believable folks on there
it was very hard to see anything though
i'll check out that other thread
thx

Thomas, here's my take on the father's lying down/foot theory

QUOTE
Actually, that first freeze frame was done in conjunction with Byrne and I do believe that that is a sasquatch and it's the same object shown in the gif image on this thread (the "Squatching" DVD thread) However, the lying down shot sequence you refer to was shot with Daryl holding a still (the guy who was with me on the hill), and that was his speculation, after the fact, concerning something lying down. I disagree with that opinion. It does look like a foot...but connecting it to the eyes which were low down (which we first encountered..and, yes, glowed red...quite creepy) would, imo, require an approximate 90 degree bending of the neck....highly unlikely to me. BTW....Daryl was the father of one of the two kids who had a sighting a few weeks earlier at the base of the hill we were climbing (that sighting was the impetus for the investigation).

If its the footage I'm thinking of - you could definitely make out some eyes and the movement of a shape through the brush. I haven't seen it in years- but I remember it was compelling footage. I'd like to see a series of stills of this.

I think that Scott Herriott is full of crap. dry.gif

To clarify, I think the footage is real. I just think in general, Scott is full of crap! laugh.gif wink.gif

Hey, anybody that has agreed with me about anything absolutely has to be full of crap! icon_really_happy_guy.gif

For the record, what very little I know about Scott in no way points toward him actually being full of crap. I'm just in an ornery mood today! laugh.gif

I remember seeing this on t.v. and thinking..."what!?"
Then I went back and watched the tape I'd made of the show in slow-mo, and thought...."what?!"
Then I went and had a beer and haven't thought about it since.
I just couldn't see what was reported to be there. huh.gif

Scott,

What's the status of that video nowdays? Have you ever attempted to have it analysed further? And are there any stills available from the video on the 'net? I've looked around but never seen any.

And I'd have to say, I always found that video rather compelling.

Yep. I've seen it several times, and even when they froze the image and outline the "bigfoot" in white I couldn't see a damn thing. I tried to spot it before they outlined it, thought I had, then they outlined it and I wasn't even close.

As far as I know, the father (who shot the head and shoulder footage) still has the original tape. I tried to get a hold of him for "Squatching", but was unable to find him (it had been almost ten years). I had a gif made of the head and shoulder footage. It' s
over on the "Squatching DVD" thread. I'll put it here as well. Concerning one of the two shots (the non-eyes one) they showed on "Ancient Mysteries", I wrote this on that other thread in relation to an assumption made by the producer.

QUOTE
...he (the father) didn't cue up the tape to where what happened at the top of the hill happened. On the way up the hill (it took us about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get near the top) Daryl, at one point, thought he may have seen something and points for a few seconds. When the A&E producer saw that, he assumed that's what we were referring to in regards what actually happened at the top of the hill and, therefore, decided to use it.  Needless to say, that was disappointing. When Sightings later asked me to be interviewed for a segment I said on one condition..that the correct footage be used. It was and I think they did a pretty good job of outlining the arm, shoulder and head.

The producer of the A&E show was even there at the Sightings taping to verify that it was, indeed, on the same tape.

Anywho...here's the gif image of what was shown on "Sightings" and should have been shown on "Ancient Mysteries" (fyi....the blobby thing coming in from the left is the father's finger...pointing...also..the top text reads "Head", the lower reads "Shoulder"
