Mr Blue
in John Green's book Bigfoot (on the track of the Sasquatch) 1973 page 43 he talk's of Slick's Research institute at San Antonio,Tx and after his death in a plane accident. They(whomever it was) must have dumped his research work in the trash as no (trace )was found of it or was it ?? that is my question also what if any of this was ever found ??????

All of the files and momentos from his endeavors were spirited away by Slick's family..never to see the light of day again!

Methinks they were of a sceptical nature!
belleoftheball
I wonder if they still have the info and won't saying anything about it? unsure.gif
I knew a gentleman who worked there before he died a year or so ago. Some kind of Choas Engineer or something like that. He worked there from the beginning I think. Too bad! I could have asked something.

While I didn't find anything profound on Tom Slick in my newspaper searches, I did find a bunch of related stuff. Nothing really on his evidence, but subjects from his Yeti searches to his philanthropy to his romance with some movie star. I haven't had the time to "photoshop" them yet. I am still working through everything I've found but will post them when I do. But for now, here's the list of what I found...

COCO B
I wonder if Maria knows or has anything.
Tirademan
OK, not sure if I should post these here, or the Historical Archives thread, but what the hell, here goes. I've got many more Tom Slick stories to go through still...these are just the start.

Seems like 'Ol Tom Slick wasn't your typical character! He seemed to be into helping out the world bigtime! (I guess growing up the son of a wealthy oil man does that) And it sounds as if his ape research is still going on.

Anyway, these start to give you some background on the guy. I'll start with the oldest.

Creating new breeds of cattle...

More cattle research...

tirademan
Tirademan
Starting his Yeti search...I have more on this which I will post later.

Jumping ahead to World Peace! A little ambitious isn't he?

tirademan
Tirademan
And rumors of a Movie Star romance...

tirademan
Tirademan
Walter's on their trail...

Now moving forward to 1969 and Baboon research! Hmm.....

tirademan
Tirademan
And some Tom Slick research award given...

I will post the remaining "Yeti search" stuff as I go through it as well as the rest I found on him.

I'm fascinated by this guy, I think he may have had more information/proof then any of us will know, Money goes a long way especially when you've got time and a mission behind it.
Maybe I'm romancing the possibilities that he found something and I imagine his demeanor/knowledge/ambition to be close to that of Nick Cages character in National Treasure.

I would like to know more about his connection with the CIA, also does anyone know if he had connections with Oak Island / "the money pit"

I guess he was kind of indirectly responsible for me eventually getting into research work. I lived in San Antonio during the early 80's, and used to pass his SW research facility a lot. I was an Ironworker back then. I would see those cages of monkeys, and pretty ladies in lab coats, and think "wouldn't it be cool to work at a place like that?". Had no idea about him and squatches back then. Now I am a research Chemist working in a lab, and wearing a lab coat, staring out the window and fondly reminicing my days as an Ironworker.

I can indetify with that sentiment Bro! thumbup.gif
Part of me wishes that I still had that job I had ten years ago when life was much simplier...but noooo..I had to go into business for myself! So now who do I phone to call in sick? wacko.gif
Tirademan
OK, managed to get through some more...back to 1956 and his expedition beginnings...Peter Byrne misspelled?

AND I did find some particulars in regards to evidence he found! Some "long lost tracks" perhaps?

tirademan
Tirademan
Bring em back alive!...Wonder if Cathy made it?

tirademan
Tirademan
Aha! Photographed footprints...anyone seen these? Peter must have at some point...?

tirademan

Someone's going to stumble on a huge box of evidence at a garage sale somewhere. Keep watching Antique Roadshow. That's where the discovery of the century will take place. laugh.gif
Tirademan
Photographed 2 kinds of footprints...

tirademan
Tirademan
Natives identified ape photos as most resembling the creature...

tirademan
Tirademan
Russians get into the act...hair and footprints...

tirademan
Tirademan
Slick plans a second exped...

tirademan
Tirademan
Oops...I guess it was all a hoax. Bob H. must have gotten there first to guide the natives in masterful art of hoaxing...

tirademan
Tirademan
I forgot to point out in that "Slick Believes Snowman is Ape" post that it says he...

"...TURNED THE HAIR AND CASTS OF THE FOOTPRINTS OVER TO THE DELHI ZOO..."

blink.gif

Wonder where they went?

tirademan

ps-Christopher Sergel?
Tirademan
OK, I kind of got these out of order...sorry. I was trying to post them chronologically, but...oh well. Anyway, here's some VERY early stories about his dad and brothers and some of their business adventures. They're not really Sasquatch related, but I think the background info kind of helps. His dad and brothers and himself were not shy in business!

This first one is from 1929 and is about Tom Sr.

tirademan
Tirademan
OK, this one is hard to read, it's about the airlines his brother headed up. Another later article mentions Tom working for the company as well. Ironic he died in a plane crash...which I have articles about as well.

tirademan
Tirademan
More on Slick Airlines...and a lawsuit against the big guys who don't want the competition.

tirademan
Tirademan
OK, onto the Tom Jr. Yeti stuff...this is an early one from 1957

tirademan
Tirademan
One more from 1958 about his peace book...don't think the reviewer like it...sorry, it's hard to read.

tirademan
Tirademan
And another story from the Russians in 1959 which mentions Slick. Anyone know the details of the 1954 exped? Is that the Shipton thing?

tirademan
Tirademan
And an early Japanese expedition...from 1958. I should probably double-post these last two into the Historical thread.

tirademan
Tirademan
Expedition mention of Tom, along with Peter Bryne, his bride and his brother...1959

tirademan
Tirademan
1960...more of that "doesn't matter if it's real, man just needs his mysteries" editorial B.S.

tirademan
Tirademan
A book review I found...

tirademan
Tirademan
And the last 2 things I have found on Tom...reports about his plane crash. This one is hard to read.

tirademan
Tirademan
Pilot error evidently...then again, Tom was pretty familiar with planes...maybe he told him to fly into it?
