I'll be ahead of the game this year. Last year there was a spate of calf killings near this isolated little natural lake. They (dead calf's) were drug over the ice and devoured on a small island according to many local ranchers. It's a perfectly gruesome story with the mother cows totally abandoning the breaks where they normally give birth to their offspring. This has been going on for several years and is documented in the yahoo group DevilMonkeys if anyone would like to read up further.
Calving season up here in the North gets underway with fervor this month and next and I plan a few early morning and late evening trips for first hand observations (camera included).
Take Care
