Hello again gang!

Been away from the forum for a while.

I've decided to stake out the Whitehall, NY area using the tree-stand idea. (Still pondering the motion-cam approach, or a mixture of approaches but haven't decided on anything solid yet.) I took a trip to Whitehall two months ago...it looks like prime territory. I plan on taking several more investigative trips to the area before deciding on the best location. Anyone familiar with the Whitehall area? Already have some reports and suggestions, but I now need to begin collecting as much information as possible from those familiar with the Whitehall sightings and territory.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions, articles, insights, reports and help...

Just a suggestion.....you might try to get in touch with someone from the Mysterious Encounters team who were in White Hall filming. Tell them what you're about and ask if they can give you any info...since they were there last year. They might tell you "thanks but no thanks", but you don't know til you try.

Another idea, watch the ME episode from White Hall and take note the people that were interviewed and try and get in touch with them. Heck, there may be someone in that area that's just looking for another person to tell their story to.
David Thomas King
Thanks Jaylee,

Do you know if the ME porgram has a web site?

Thanks much. I'll pursue this and see what kind of results I get.

Does anyone else have any Whitehall, NY related info or reports they could share to help my endeavor be as successful as possible? I'm looking for reports, contacts, tips, suggestions and even possible sidekicks in this project. Anyone intrested in doing some actual reasearch in the North East?

David,

I live in New York and would be very interested. When are you thinking of going to the Whitehall area? How many people are you planning to have in your group? Are you, and will the other members of the group you put together for this project, all be members of a no kill camp? I don't want to be involved in the project at all if the ultimate goal of this trip would be to try and kill one of these creatures.
BigDaddy
Hi DTK
I guess it's time for me to stop lurking and try to become a productive part of this community.

I live in Bolton Landing, about 12 miles away from Whitehall, since Lake George is in the way it’s a 40 min. drive though. But not too far out of the way for me as in the past I was seeing a girl from there. new_whistle.gif

I have been compiling a map of BF encounters / sightings in the Adirondack region that I will post as soon as I reach member status. I’ve been amazed how much activity there is in the area.

I recently asked other friends and coworkers if they knew people in Whitehall as I wanted to learn the area better for myself, I was looking for a guide and they all did know someone until I let them know why I was asking. icon_bang.gif

Anyway, I am familiar with the area, not well enough to be a guide myself but I can get around alright over there. And I would be more than happy to help if you would like.

By the way, have you read “Monsters Of The Northwoods” ? If not, I think you’ll find it interesting as it has many of the earlier encounters in Whitehall documented with road locations and some witness names. It is available at Barnes & Noble, I think my copy was about $12.95 it was a fun read.

Good luck and let me know if I can be of any service to your quest.

Chuck

P.S. Howdy to the rest of the forum.

Hello New York Believer and Big Daddy (Chuck),

I was thinking of taking some "fact-finding" trips back to Whitehall in the late-winter early spring. Then I plan to set up some kind of treestand and/or video surveillance as well as conduct several all-night stakeouts etc. I also want to look for footprint and knocking sound evidence. (Definitely a "no kill" thing.) Because I was getting no responses initially, it was going to be a solo venture. Seeing as how you're both interested, let's put our brains together and come up with a workable plan to turn up some tangible BF evidence from the Whitehall area. Are you in?

Heck, the more the merrier! Anyone else interested in undertaking a concerted effort to produce real evidence of active Sasquatch activity in the Northeast? [No blobsquatch quality nonsense, only scientifically sound documentation.] OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: I'm toying with the idea of forming the Northeastern Wood-Ape Investigation Association (NWIA). If there’s anyone from the Northeast interested in doing some serious sighting investigations and all-night stakeouts at least twice a year for now, let me know. My goal is to eventually eradicate the prevailing skepticism of the residential existence of the Northeastern Sasquatch through scientifically sound evidence. I’m aiming to provide incontestable credibility to the Northeastern Wood-Ape phenomenon. I'm ALREADY in the midst of designing a TOP-NOTCH website for the project. This is the real deal. Anyone interested in contributing his or her time, talent, knowledge and effort? Could be extremely rewarding! (Plus a whole lot of fun!) The Northeast needs a solid base of united operations. I believe It’s time to pull together the many scattered northeastern efforts into a viable and unified association/organization. Any “northeasterners” feel the same way?

Reply to this post publicly (to show your support) and privately (to disclose more sensitive information) and make known your interest, talents and availability. Through your private contacts, I’ll develop a “closed” contact list and make it available to those who definitely want to unite so we can coordinate our talents, experience and efforts and communicate in a more private setting.

Because of the highly skeptical mindset of most northeasterners concerning this rare and valuable biped, the desire for anonymity is respected and completely understood. “Aliases” may be used for those who are known in their communities or for those who are frequently in the public “eye.”

Make your interest known publicly and then contribute any talent or info to the cause privately.

I guess I should make this a separate post huh? Any suggestions?

Any other Northeasterners seriously interested in uniting efforts to credibly establish the Northeastern Sasquatch as a definite residential entity to be rekoned with? We're starting with some initial investigations in the Whitehall, NY area. Anyone else on board? We need to hear from some more of you...

Dave,
I 've expressed my interest. When are we going to Whitehall?

I've got lots of experience in day or night ops, still good with land nav and such. Just need some people to work with as do you. Let me know!

Howdy Dave, Paul & NYB,

This is starting to sound good. new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif NWIA new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif , yah, I like it. I think it's important to dispel the myth that such creatures are strictly a western phenomenon. While I don’t see the need for an East , West rivalry :poke: , I do think it is ignorant to assume that such creatures can not inhabit the eastern states.

I'm living in the area (near Whitehall, NY) and am starting to set up interviews with people in the Whitehall area that claim to have seen "something". I'll keep you posted on how these turn out.

If any of you have specific questions that you would like asked, let me know what they are and I'll try to work them in.

Dave, please tell us more about the website you are designing.

Good luck in that area, it has ssome nice swamp and brushland was well as woods and mountainous regions nearby. I grew Up in Essex County just north of there. Traveled through that area extensively. You might want to check around tons of logging in that region. Plenty of times I had been dirt biking as a teen ager and swore something was watching. Even later when I was falling trees I felt uneasy. Even though there is a lot of hunting and fisining up there. the adirondaks is a State Park 70,000 acres. Lake George, Lake Champlain area.
BigDaddy
Just a little history of the Adirondack park for those who might not know.

The Adirondack Park, a boundary (Known to the locals as "The Blue Line") created by the state legislature in 1892 to encompass the forest preserve lands, has grown into a unique blend of public and private lands that is now the largest state park in the lower 48 states. The park boundary encompasses 9,375 square miles, roughly a 100 by 100 mile square. The six million plus acre park has just over three million acres in private ownership, while one million acres of the public land are designated as wilderness. The Adirondack Park is home to 135,000 residents in 135 hamlets.

The Adirondacks include the headlands of five major drainage basins: Lake Champlain, the Hudson, the Black, the St. Lawrence and Mohawk rivers all draw water from the preserve. There are more than 2800 lakes and ponds, and more than 1500 miles of rivers that are fed by an estimated 30,000 miles of brooks and streams.

Portions of the park are protected by the Forever Wild Act of 1895. This protects the "State Owned" land. (A Quote from the NYS Constitution) The lands of the state, now owned or hereafter acquired, constituting the forest preserve as now fixed by law, shall be forever kept as wild forest lands. They shall not be leased, sold or exchanged, or be taken by any corporation, public or private, nor shall the timber thereon be sold, removed or destroyed. Roughly 45% of the park is privately held and has other restrictions. icon_bang.gif

Everything in view falls under the Forever Wild Act. The view is South East, looking down Lake George From Sabith Day Pt., Whitehall is directly beyond the mountains across the lake.

I made this post for those of you who might be interested.

Welcome Magistare.

And siince they allow logging. We never have the yearly wild fires that plague the west coast. More incentive for something to want to live there. :-)

Go BigDaddy (Chuck) and Magistare!

Great info! Keep going!

NWIA Website update:

I'm still sketching out the site design, but I would appreciate any input from you all and will let you know as soon as it is up... I want it to be top-notch!

I want to include a detailed flash-map of the Northeast, (I guess we need to define what will be considered boundary states for the Northeastern regions and territories, including Canada -- input please). Also would like to include an extremely search-friendly sightings database, [searchable by almost any criteria], and a strong Northeastern expeditions focus, chock full of reports, photos and evidence pics etc.

We should begin active investigations ASAP. Probably after the holidays...

Whitehall and VT seem like likely places to begin stakeouts and investigations. We should start putting together a “head count” of those willing to participate in these regions. So far I’ve counted six. We need to decide on specific locations and various approaches of staking out the focused regions.

At some point, we should probably divide the Northeast into workable regions and appoint "officers" or lead investigators or even lead investigation teams to oversee various ongoing investigations etc.

Let's put our strengths together and design this site right.

Anyone good at writing? Graphic/web design etc? (These are my strengths, but there might be others also)

I guess we should also begin listing our strengths, availability and what we can bring “to the table” etc. For example: independent research, outdoor skills, information gathering ability etc. such as NYB, Paul_R, BigDaddy, Magistare and others have been contributing.

If you could, send me any usable pics, artwork, reports, information, news reports etc. Some of the information posted so far by Chuck and others is very useful. I’ve got a collection of Northeastern sighting reports to add and we can also hunt down some of the individuals who have posted sightings in the Northeast on other sites and get firsthand reports.

Just some ideas… anyone else like to offer some suggestions as to the design and content of the site?

Dave,
I don't know if you've seen this but a fellow BFF member sent me this link when I was inquiring about sightings in NJ.

I know this has been seen by some. Incredible report and investigation.
Gives NJ Sasquatch research a good name.

Great report JersySas...

You're definitley in the Northeast, and this is the kind of stuff we should be adding to the site...

Anyone else want to contibute?

Hey Northeastern Folks!

I'm flying to Washington State tomorrow morning, I won't be back till next Thursday (The 16th). Keep on posting and writing. Also, spread the word to others and let's see how much interest we can generate among other Northeasterners. (I plan on continuing no matter what kind of response we get.) I'll talk ya all next week.

Keep it real.

I'm back. I got a cold/flu that knocked me flat on my ass! Should be back on my feet by the beginning of the week. You guys are doing great. Let's tie this all together and solidify its foundation by determining when and where to meet and how many would definitely show. Hartford seems pretty central. Albany is not too bad either, but it might be too far for the Jersey folk. Any other suggestions?

Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum, but your expedition to the Whitehall area of NY has got my curiousity level up. I wanted to also share this report from the BFRO with you in case you haven't already seen it.

http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=9723

This report is from Whitehall NY in Nov. 04, so it is all very recent information. Could be helpful.
Keep us posted on your findings. I'd love to be able to read about what you all experience.

Hey Bombsaway,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your interest and effort. Speaking for myself, I have already read the report you have linked for us (but thanks all the same).

Here is a link to another thread on this board that might interest you. “Northeastern Wood-Ape Investigation Association, Attention all Northeastern Bigfooters…”

Living close to Whitehall, I get to hear some stories that never reach databases. It’s pretty interesting and it’s fun to dig these stories up.

Oh, Dogfoot, I can be reached at sasquatchchaser@yahoo.com

Hi BigDaddy,
Thanks for the link to that other thread. I appreciate it. I hadn't found that discussion yet.
I love your neck of the woods up there. I've been spending a few days in early Oct. every year for the past few outside Schroon Lake Village. Beautiful.
I've been keeping my ears and eyes open, but so far, no sign of the Big Guy.
Take it easy -Bombsaway.

Tongue in cheek, I hear the northeast bf, are much smaller, than are
northwest giants.
And not nearly as smart, should be easier to find one, because well there just not
that bright.
But I hope you boys all the luck in the world,
ps: be careful
