Full Version: If a complete Giganto skeleton is found in Asia...

...and it matches quite well with what has been stated about the anatomy of Sasquatch, would it be enough to get more scientists interested in the 'squatch? Or, do you think that they will continue to scoff at the idea of a North American great ape? I can see them maybe conceding that they existed at one time, but I can't imagine them actually admitting they may still be around.

I dunno. Just thinkin' 'bout stuff tonight. smile.gif

I do not think anything will change their minds until a body is gotten to study. Even if like you say was done I do not think that would matter at all to them. The only thing that would change them if it was a newer one :-) like with a little meat still on it lol.

Even if it was a few thousand years old it might help a little. As that would at least prove they lived much longer then is thought by most. But I still say it would take one really fresh for main stream to change their minds and say well just maybe Bigfoot is a real animal.

I think if they found an upright version of gigantopithecus the majority of scientists would be surprised. I doubt that would change their minds on BF. There are plenty of other possible candidates and it doesn't seem to matter to them. I don't think it is a lack of a possible candidate in the fossil record that is making scientists skeptical. It is the seemingly unlikely possibility that an uncataloged upright giant hominoid has evaded scientific classification to this point.

I don't think finding a full skeleton in Asia is going to change their mind, or change their mind about Bigfoot. However, if a full skeleton was found in North America, and it could be determined to be only a few years old at most, that would open their eyes.

It might not change anybody's mind, but I'd bet that a good lot of them would secretly by saying to themselves, "Hmmmm, I wonder....."

No one doubts Gigantopithecus lived in Eurasia...the trick is getting it out of its tropical environment, into the circum-polar regions, and then over the Bearing Land Bridge into North America.
That's where most scientists get caught up.

But what if the skeletal features match what scientists have deduced about the Sasquatch anatomy? Would that make a few more scientists look a little closer at the phenomenon? For example, if Dr. Meldrum's findings in the study of footprints and BF foot anatomy match what is found in the giganto remains to a T, wouldn't that be kind of difficult to ignore? I'm sure that it would turn more than a few heads in the BF direction.

Personally, I really doubt giganto is the precursor to BF. Even as a guesstimate it was based on old information. My suspicion is that the near ancestor to BF hasn't been found.
