Rural Western Washington, with my sweetie

. I used to live in Portland, but this is infinitely better for me. Looking out the window seeing woods just feels good . . . And walking down to the river and watching salmon when it's not raining . . . And seeing all the birds at the feeders . . . And the deer under the apple trees . . .

well, i live in the portland oregon area, but originally a small town okla gal, and the worst place i have lived was in a burb in los angeles calif, i don't really like big cities, but where i live now in the portland area, i am only about a five minute drive to the wilderness, although at times crowded with tourist. but i have found some pretty nice places that aren't as well known and off the beaten path, that are fairly close, oregon is bigfoot country too!!!!!!!! by the way jack, i have always loved the tulip fields, i used to live just north of seattle and everett for a while.....

duuuuuuude, it's the valley, it's like, I don't know, oh my god, tooootally, dude-bogus, duuuuuuuuude 'ssssssup?, saaaaah, saaaaweeet dude!, DUDE!
I spent some time in Encino, so I can converse with the natives

, the key is to throw lots of "dudes" into your sentence (anywhere) and lots of "he's all, so she's all, so I'm all". (all what, I'll never figure out.)

Me and the clan live south of Jack Shiite and north of ontheloose and almost next door to Resplendent Yeti (near Centralia, WA). We're pretty near St. Helens and the site of the Skookum Cast and a huge number of sightings (including my daughter's two sightings). Heck, Bigfoot roams all over the place out here. We regularly see herds of Sasquatches peacefully foraging in the fields near our house!!! (Sorry...got carried away there...)
Ahem...what I wanted to say is that we really like it here. It's quiet and beautiful with fresh air and lots of outdoor stuff to do. As JS put it best, Western Washington all the way!

You picked a crazy time to move up here! From the way the squirrels have been gathering nuts, the old-timers say we're in for a bad winter.
But that's okay, 'cuz like they say, it's a wet sloppy cold.

(I guess we oughta just be thankful we're not the groin) That's an "extinct" volcano that I'm living at the foot of... No BF up there that we know of, just cougars, coyotes, deer, foxes, and wild pigs (that will get you if they can).

Another canuck here. There has been sightings in the north and 'near north' of ontario among the european settlers which go back to the 19th century- not to mention native folklore. The terrain is the canadian shield- the same as northern michigan, wisconsin and Manitoba - typically vast expanses of thick bush with rocky outroppings, rolling hills in some areas with thousands of lakes and marshland. There's a rich biodiversity and huge tracts of it are completely uninhabited, a perfect place for a prehistoric troglodyte to keep out of man's way. But there are very harsh winters in these northern parts of the province, i wouldn't think a nest of boughs would do Sas much good even with a thick coat. I expect they would need more pemanent shelters than their west coast cousins.

When I was in Banff in the late eighties i remember hearing a report on the radio about these guys who claimed they had discovered a cavern full of bigfoot in the mountains somewhere. But then they claimed to have hunkered down and cooked up some beans with them... so I'm inclined to think that it wasn't true.
But I love Banff, and there aren't many places that are as good as the bow river and tribs for flyfishing.

I am from the Adirondack region of upstate NY, but have been to 49 of the 50 states and much of Eastern Canada. Made a few short forays into BC, but haven't made it to all (any actually) of the legendary places in BC I would like to see. Live in Texas right now, but have lived for some time in at least 10 states. My favorite? Idaho! Most people give me a funny look when I say that, but I lived there a little more than a year, and really LOVED it. Wish I could find decent employment there, or Alaska (my real dream). Never made it to Alaska though.

Hey BSF, any good woods in Idaho? What's the fishin' like? I always wanted to go and check that state out, I think because the population density is rather low, and a guy could kinda get waaaay away from it all there......

Henry's fork for rainbows and cutthroats. They are HUGE and plentiful. I only keep one or two each time, and eat trout 3 or 4 times a week in Idaho. Mmmmm! are they good. Portneuf for huge old German browns. Watch out for the bulls! I have been chased. Really is a LOT of great fishing in Idaho. They make trout from the east or west look like sardines. Woods, my favorite is the bitterroots on the Montana border. Lots of pretty woods too, though. Check out the sawtooths for really pretty mountains. I camped for a while at redfish lake, loved it. Also, Island park is nice. Hard to find an area of Idaho I don't like. Oh, yeah, donwtown Boise. otherwise, I love the whole state. Keep your eyes and ears open. You might hear wolves howling to the moon, or see elk, or grizzley bear. Or even a bigfoot. The north is lovely too, around Coer d'lane.

I live in Northern Virginia now, but have also lived in the Shenandoah Nat'l Park area, Williamsburg, and VA Beach. My wife knows some of the people who heard the "Mt Vernon Monster" of 1979/80. My sister and brother in law were "escorted" out of the woods on more than one occasion up in the Shenandoah (one specific place which I'm itching to check out).
I also lived in Mississippi, right across the highway from the Honey Island Swamp, and in North Carolina (Carrboro). California, too, in the Santa Maria area (Orcutt, actually) and LA.
I didn't see or hear anything myself in any of those areas, but always heard things through the grapevine..
