What a trip. Someone once asked me if I were a native Floridian and after I told them I was originally from Canada, they asked if there were any natives. I told them yes, but they all moved to NC.
Weird, I lived in NC for a short time. FayetteNam to be exact.

good mornin and thanx 4 the welcome. yes i am actually FROM floriduh, although i went 2 school in ny and lived in okla a while.
have been slinky chix on the net 4 the last couple of years. it is my chat name on yahoo. am on disability, so i have alot of time 2 surf around. spend alot of time in the support and recovery yahoo chat room. slinky chix fits me cause im really tall and really thin.
i think this is the nicest bigfoot forum/discussion group i have seen. i like to read reports of sightings and see pictures, although most pictures are like definitely fake. the nappy velvet bigfoot is the worst.
without takin a lot of time. my "not so sure" encounter happened in 2001. was hitch hiking from tulsa/broken arrow okla 2 littlerock on my way back 2 florida. have no clue xactly where i was but it was like the interstate/highway. had gotten left off in the middle of bfe and was walking along the road maybe at 2 or 3 in the morning. i had the feeling i was being followed and was like thinking it was the people that put me out playing a trick on me but it was nite and u couldnt see any headlights or cars and this went on 4 a long time as i kept walking. i would hear footsteps in the trees around me. sometimes next 2 me and it seemed like maybe not far away. other times it seemed in front or behind me. could hear like giggling and words that didnt make sense. wasn treally loud and it took me a while 2 realize it wasn tin my head. i think this wen t on maybe an hour. seems like more than 1 thing was talking. i had stopped walking and the sounds stopped. i dont think they had stopped when a car would go bybut i was off the side of the road a little ways. sort of got used 2 the feeling and sound since nothing happened and i was really tired by then. was really whack though. i think i fell asleep and sort of remember the feeling that someone was standing close 2 me. i dont know if i smelled anything. i think sometimes i felt like something warm was close 2 me. or big. you could almost see something "big" or feel the space it occupied if that makes sense. i think by bag and purse were moved while i was sleeping.
i have never told anyone this before because i didnt really see anything and i have alot of issues taht would make alot of people just say i was a whack ho. could have all been in my head but i really dont think so. just feels different than anything else i have xperiecned.

Hi Carlie

Welcome to the BFF
Thanks for sharing your "not sure" experience. Can you describe the "giggling" sound you heard a little more? Interesting experience and it must have been pretty creepy being out there alone in bfe.

Were you like scared Carlie? Did you like just lay down on the side of the road to sleep? Were you like next to the interstate or like next to the woods? Just wondering since it sounds like you were in a really wooded area.
slinky chix
Oct 12 2004, 10:24 AM
as i remember the road had a paved median and a grassy median and woods. was walkign along the grass part. was really dark. i do remember that. have no idea where i was xactly; had been in a couple of trucks 4 a while before i got put out. really sucked. i didnt want 2 get picked up again at nite and didnt want 2 get hit so i kept back from the pavement.
the sounds were not really loud and were like little giggles and mumbles. have heard some of the sound samples posted here and it sounded similar i think. will go listen 2 a couple more over again so i get the names straight. it is easier to say what it did not sound like or what it sounded sorta like. was sorta like little kids. sorta like some sort of ghost voice. sorta like monkey or bird chatter. it might have had more of a pattern than just being random sounds but i cant say it was like a voice talking in sentences.
i think i just did sit down at some point. was really tired. i do know i sat or lay down next 2 a tree but not way back in the woods. could not see alot.
big problem 4 me is im a manic bipolar. i can hallucentate and hear voices. was also using drugs at that time but not that day. will swear 2 the day i die when i do have manic s**t in my head its not like what i heard and felt. can tell the difference between crap in my head and crap i hear next 2 me. have never FELT things around me being manic. theres a movie where a character says "i know drug real from real real" and i would say the same thing. was not hallucenating. was not on drugs that nite. my own attention span and mind flits all around and it would be hard 4 me 2 just hear things 4 a long long time if it werent real.

Hello, Carlie.
Just a little friendly advice? 99% of this forum is made up of literate, intelligent adults, and we really, really appreciate people writing in clear sentences with decent capitalization, punctuation, and grammar. It just makes things
so much easier. Plus, a lot more people will take the time to read what you write, rather than scanning past it.

T'hail were you doing out hitchhiking in the first place?! What year was this? 1950? Good Lord girl, sounds like you got a lot more interesting stories to tell than just that one.
So you're having this creepy experience and you're tired so you sit or lay down next to a tree somewhere? I would think the adrenaline would kick in and you'd suddenly be wide awake and hyperalert. This is not a typical fear reaction. So either you weren't afraid or you're adrenal glands aren't working. Were you just not afraid? Were you on any medication at the time?
It's an interesting idea, to know the difference between "drug real and real real", but I don't buy it. Too many people do too many stupid things because they can't tell the difference. Probably most times they can. All it takes is once. Obviously this wasn't the case with you, as you said you weren't on drugs at the time.
Hearing voices in your head is schizophrenia. Right? Anyone here an expert? I think I need to go research that one now. Interesting. I have a brother-in-law who is schizophrenic and what you described is exactly what he experiences when he is not on his medication. He's not manic, however. He does not have severe mood swings. The way I understand it, manic depressive disorder (aka bipolar) is where one minute you are ridiculously happy and the next you're extremely depressed. It's from one extreme to the other, but no voices. Now I suppose you could be manic depressive/bipolar with schizophrenia. I'm no doctor, but this makes sense to my pea brain. I may have missed something in your posts, but I recall you mentioning that you sometimes hear voices but I don't recall you mentioning schizophrenia. Maybe you should explore this possibility. It could really improve the quality of your life.

It might also offer a possible explanation for your experience. I'm not saying it's not bigfoot related and that you're crazy, because I don't think you are crazy (but I don't know you......yet, lol). I'm just saying that if you have a history of hearing voices (whether they are similar to what you heard or not) this possibility has to be considered.
Regardless, I loved your story. Deliciously creepy!!
Welcome to the BFF!

Good morning y'all.
After being up a couple days, dropped off on the interstate and nite and walking a long long time after a while you will jsut stop. I was probably awake two or three days then and was tired. Some things I don't remember alot about. I can't say I decided just say to myself "ok time to take a nap" just was more worn out and tired of walking and worrying or thinking about things. And when you are in the middle of nowhere I guess it doesn't matter if you walk or sit or whatever.
Hitchhiked because I had to. Was having a hard time in Tulsa and wanted to come home to Florida. Would say I have had hard times sometimes. Nothing you can do about it. Wasn't intending to get put out in the middle of no where.
Having access to the internet has been great. If what I felt was for real with some sort of animal... then whew! If not I am still interested in bigfoot, or now, as I have seen skunk ape, which we have down here in Florida. No one here really knows anything about it and it is more of an urban legend from what I can tell. I got some friends to watch the skunk ape epoisode of Encounters with me, whcih was good, though.
With my bipolar I have the manic swings. It is like being high. Eventually without meds I just sort of zone out into my own world. Kinda scary really. Then I can and do hear voices and stuff. But it is always "normal"voices if that makes sense. Have never heard footsteps, gibberish sounds, feeling of being followed or watched. Usually it is just like me talking to myself or hearing myself talking to me or something. Schizophrenia is similar sometimes to bipolar swings. Some of the meds are the same. Was not taking meds back then regularly.
Thanks for the support and the interesting site. Really appreciate it.

I mean I didnt know Florida had it until recently. I live in Tampa. Kind of creepy to think that it might be around in the woods here. Florida's woods are really very swampy and icky (at least around here and the river). Have not seen heard or felt one of them around!

Carlie, I just moved to the west coast of FL. Lived on the east coast for 14+ years. I didn't realize how densely wooded parts of Florida are and very likely to host a sassie or two. Getting out of the concrete jungle was the best move I ever made. I love it over here!

Yep. Florida has it. In fact, if you read John Green's book, Sasquatch: The Apes Among Us, you will see that Florida rivals WA state and CA with reported sightings and/or footprints. Most of those are older, however, back in the 70's and much earlier. Being a native Washingtonian, I didn't really believe they were here either...until recently.

Now I'm pretty much convinced that they are, and that we humans need to stop destroying their habitat.
As for hitchhiking......no more, you understand? Too many freaks and homicidal maniacs out there.

And who would drop a woman off on the interstate in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night?!! What an a$$! Geez! That person oughtta be dumped off in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night and see how he/she likes it! That's a terrible thing to do to someone.
Oh, and you're absolutely right. After being awake for several days, your body will rest itself regardless of your efforts. Unless you're like some weirdos I know

He he he.
