From USA Weekend magazine:

Now you can get a bird's-eye view of the rich bio-diversity of the forest's top layer. Tree canopy walkways (suspended bridges and platforms used by scientists to study nature) are a new spin on eco-tourism. Debuting this fall: Oxbow Meadows Canopy Trail, in a regenerating forest in Columbus, GA.

In Whitefish, Montana, a 750-foot-long walkway and two seven-story platforms are suspended between firs and cedars.

In Worcester, Mass., EcoTarium science museum's Creature of the Night trek takes you nearly 40 feet above oaks and hickories.

Oh sure... thanks Jaylee new_grrr.gif I was having a great day and you have to go and screw it up by posting a web site from the Columbus, GA area where my EX-WIFE is working and is actually involved with the whole canopy viewing project because she's a Botanist new_grrr.gif

ding, ding, ding,..... focus..... focus...... ommmm..... ommmmm

Ok... I'm much better now. I think I'll make an appointment with my therapist now

Kidding aside, she is actually involved with it and I wasn't surprised to see her name somewhere on that web site. Pretty cool stuff. Don't think the Big guy would be hanging around much if they went through the trouble of installing a system like that though. IMO

We have those tree walkways in Vancouver at Capilano Creek! Some 100 ft or so off the ground! You are walking abound in the treetops from platform to platform!...just like evil little elves! new_evil.gif

QUOTE
Whatever the view, Treetops Adventure, the newest feature at the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park (admission is about $16 U.S.), makes the crowded temperate rain forest north of Vancouver seem even more magnificent. And that’s the point.

The idea seems simple enough. Treetops Adventure is a series of seven suspension bridges that span from tree to tree, offering visitors a ‘‘squirrel’s-eye view’’ of the forest.

But a couple of design elements help set this adventure apart. The first: No steep climbing.

Visitors enter by ascending just 12 steps into a ‘‘Swiss Family Robinson’’-type tree house and then venturing out onto cedar-plank bridges that slowly work their way higher and higher above the forest floor.
