I need a little help in identifying this print(if possible). I shot this while looking for a place to camp up in Bancroft,Ontario last month.
This was right on the middle of the path going into Jimmies lake(which is now just a big swampy marsh). It had rained really hard just the day before we were there. You could see the puddles of water in the two tire tracks going down the path, yet this print directly in the middle of the tire tracks had no water in it at all bone dry. just one single print!!!
I got two shot of it though This is the first one!!!

this is the second!!! Remember its the same print only ONE

My girlfriend and I then kept walking down the path to the lake and once we got there we notice this was no lake anymore it was this over grown swampy marsh. We walked down to the edge of the swamp and right there coming straight out from the swamp was another print same size and everything but this one was in water.
I have hiked up in the woods for quite awhile and have seen lots of bear tracks but none like this. first shot

Second shot

Hard for me to make anything out. Whatever the impression is from, it does appear larger than a bear.

Finding a bear big enough to leave a print like that (assuming its not an overlapping one) would almost be as significant as finding a bf.

Very hard to say, but it is the right shape for a bear/bear overlap track, although it would be a fairly large one.
Here is a pic of a known overlap track, sized as close as I could to your impression. I used the grass and other plants to "eyeball" it as close as possible.
Unless the grass is very differnt in size, which I doubt, then thse are not that much different in size. The Michigan bear overlap track is from a decent sized bear, but not unusualy large..if yours is a bear overlap, it would be from a larger animal, but still not out of the question. What length is the chord on your retractable leash, if I may ask?(the whole length, not just the visable part?)... We sell those at work, and if I know the chord length, I can measure it and get a better estimate of true size(or you can just measure the one you have.).
If it is NOT an overlap, however, you have something very interesting!!
