Hi, I've recently become interested in Bigfoot, and am looking for sightings in the area Near where I live. Specifically Box Elder and Cache Counties in Utah, and Cassia & Minidoka Counties in Idaho. Surrounding areas are good too.
The BFRO database has 1 sighting in BE, and one in Cassia. However, I have heard there have been sightings in Cache Co, and numerous sightings in Cassia Co, going back for more than 100 years, in the Oakley area. Can anyone provide me with more sighitng records in these areas? I'm especially interested in the Oakley stories (aka The Hairy Man of Birch Creek).
I'm also looking for anyone who is doing serious research in the area, who I might be able to help, or tag along with. Is there anyone out here? I know Dr. Meldrum is about a 90 min drive from me, but don;t know that he really needs any help with anything.
I'm a petroleum geologist, and have lots of field experience in the mountains, and woods. I also have a good background in Vertebrate Paleontology and a lesser knowlege of physical anthropology and paleoanthropology. I have extensive mapping skills and can help with that as well.
thanks

Welcome to BFF tylosaurus!!
While I am from and live in Arkansas, my wife is from Utah so I have in interest in all things Utah. I know there is at least on other here with a similar situation.
I personally don't know any investigators in your area, but if there is one out there I'm sure you came to the right place to locate them. If not, well you came to the best place to get your feet on the ground because there is a diversity of talent, expertise, and opinions to be found here.
I'm 1500 miles away but if I can be of help let me know.
BTW, what sparked your interest if I may inquire?

I've kinda always been interested in the subject, but very sceptical. Last year, I saw that show on the Discovery channel, that showed the Skookum cast and other evidence from Dr. Meldrum, as well as that forensic fingerprint expert. It was very convincing, and now, I'm not quite as skeptical.
Recenlty I attended a family reunion in idaho. My brother in law, is scared to death of bigfoot, so I did some searching for local stories, etc to scare him with. I found some. I also found a lot of othe intersting info, and now I just want to know more & maybe see some evidence for myself.

I live in Boise, Idaho, but grew up in Willard, Utah. Am very familiar with areas you referred to. If you are still in Perry area and interested let me know.
I had a possible sighting near Mantua, Utah, in 1977 and know of another BE County sighting, besides the BFRO sighting, that occured in 1980.
My brother had an encounter late 80s/early 90s in mountains near Preston, Idaho. Am interested in investigating that area. I am aware of several sightings in the vicinity over the past 20 years or so.
In 2007 I attended BFRO expedition in Uinta Mts and have plans to attend this year's expedition that will also be in the Uintas. The selected area has ongoing activity and promises to be very interesting!

Hey mtnterry welcome to the bff, I was on that same 2007 expediition. Hope you have better luck on the new one.
I'm flying as anonymously as I can on this board but you'll remember me as being from NC. Do you still post to the
expedition board? I haven't been there for awhile. I think that Utah, Idaho, Wyoming border is the place I'd head
straight back toward for some experiences. Very spooky reports from around there. When you have 7-10 posts on this
board you can personal/private message members here too.

I live in Blackfoot Id and have been involved in one sighting and a few encounters that cannot be associated with any animals known to me in this area.
Anyway my sister asked me to talk to her cub scout pack on Bigfoot for one of there badges. After the meeting a Cub Scout leader approached me and started to tell me about going to the Fort Hall Bottoms with a couple of other men trying to find footprints and other evidence. Apparently they have been doing some research for the last couple of years. I will try to get some more information at the next pack meeting. It seems that there research was on migration during the months of August and September through the Snake River Bottoms, the same time of year that my sighting took place

Good chance and choice. The Bear River Range, northwest of Bear Lake and Mink Creek, Idaho and down toward Huntsville, Utah.
The Uintas? Yes.

I went to school in Rexburg and my wife is from Pocatello. There's a LOT of wide open spaces and forests in Utah-SE ID. There's an incredible amount of food, shelter, and high ground (for sassies to watch for us so they can walk away in safety). I'd guess that the upper Snake River would be a great place to investigate.

Well I must admit I have spent some time in UT myself especially around Provo but I don't recall seeing any Squatches. So I have an interest in that area as well including a friend of mine who had a sighting.

Well if ya get up north Lewiston way there is alot of activity. I ran truck out of Lewiston and though I never had a sighting I met quite a few drivers who did. Not only is the country rough and hard to get into, but is prime area for the big guy to live in. I have heard many sightings on LOLO pass between Lewiston and MT, and down along the Whitebird pass.
Good hunting

Yep, that would be the trace of the Nez Perce flight from the U.S. Cavalry, much to be said about old Indian trails and Bigfoot I should think.
