OK! OK!

My contribution to the Bigfoot Information Project is a....
70 minute taped interview with John Green. Bipto will supply the details as soon as he hashes things out on his end!
Well....it is not really an interview...it is more of a conversation which was partially taped to let the BFF eavesdrop on what was being said! (Yes! John knew he was being recorded! )
I think there is something for everyone on it! Either text..or live audio-stream..whichever can be worked out!
And..believe me..you have no idea how hard it is to carry on a conversation..when you know you are being taped..and all will be revealed to possibly thousands of people! :willies:

...but there you have it! ph34r.gif smile.gif

You guyz are sooooo cool...I just had to do it! cool.gif

Do you have to yell to be heard by a giant? Not in this case!

Some time back I asked Bipto if he might be interested in obtaining an exclusive interview..or conversational recording ..of John Green! He went away to think about it for a time.. He was back in 0.23 seconds demanding if I were crazy to have even asked!
The next morning I sent an email to John Green and had a reply back the same day. (Somewhere in Minnesota there was a pumpkin ..doing the Macerna before his 'apple' computer!)

I did a 'follow-up' phone call to see when would be a good time to pop over. This past Friday morning found me sitting in the Green's living room, on their couch, flipping through John's copy of Chris Murphy's new book. (Most Excellent....! )

He came into the room and we started talking. ( as two people are want to do..) About 10 or 15 minutes later I remembered that the tape recorded was still in my bag!!

At this point I apologize to anybody who will witness event..either by text..or audio streaming( if such is the case.) I learned some things that morning..;

1) Body language does not come across on a tape or in text. The rolling of the eyes..or an exaggerated posture works wonders visually..how ever all you get on audio ..is dead air.

2)Your casual conversation is not so casual when in the back of your mind you have a metronome ticking telling you to pick up the pace. Spend less time on one subject and more time on another. (Your tape is only so long...and your topics are many..and for continuity and flow..you do not want to be stopping or pausing every 10 minutes) So the taping of this conversation was done in one take without any touch ups. You hear the full 70 mins as it happened.(Except for two places where the original was not copied because the content was meant as 'off the record'...which I respected! (Conversations can carry one into uncharted areas without even realizing it.)

3) In retrospect there were a hundred key questions that I missed So understand that I realize this and do not judge me too harshly.

4) Once the recorder was put away the conversation became much less formal....complete with *winks, grins, eye rolling, snickers and off the cuff reactions!Come to think of it..they were there during the taped part also...you just could not see them!)

Later...Out came the castings..including a replica of the famous heel segment of the Skoocum Cast..a replica of Titmus's 'Patty' cast from Bluff Creek! John's marvelous collection of books (All autographed by the authors) Complete with a devilish trace of a grin on his lips..which makes you wonder if he is putting you on...or is he just taking note of your reaction to what he has presented you. (You never know for sure!)

The man's generosity is legend and quite true! It is one thing to have someone pop around for a chat..but another to be willing to be recorded during that chat.

There were many subjects touched on. Some were......
Ruby Creek,Gerry Crew's prints, hoaxers in general, his database, media response to the subject, Four Horsemen of Sasquatchery, the internet, his database,P/G Film, Skoocum Cast, Glen Thomas, Roe, Ostman, new faces to replace the old,.did I mention his database?.and last..but not least..his books..plus..a few interesting personal questions...and more! Something for everyone!

I hope you like my efforts...and that you love this man!
In my opinion..he should be an 'official' Canadian Treasure!! thumbup.gif
Blackdog
Great job GC. I'm certainly envious and can't wait to hear/read the interview! thumbup.gif

VERY cool, GC! John Green sounds like a terrific guy, and a true asset to Bigfoot research. He's definitely a guy to learn from and enjoy doing it in the process. Thanks, GC!
Hairy Man
EXCELLENT!!!! I especially appreciate that there will be both a transcript and an audio stream (some of us have old computers)!

John Green is a wonderful man. You had an opportunity that most will never have - I hope you take it and cherish it in your heart for the rest of your days.
peregrine
So, just to make sure I'm understanding you, there will be a transcript?
bipto
In researching the streaming audio option, I've found that a typical home internet connection (even broadband) is not up to snuff for streaming effectively. If too many people asked for the stream, my connection to the web would bog down making the BIP site, the stream, and the forums unavailable or very, very slow. Still looking for options, but if it ever ends up being streamed, it will have to be through a commercial web host somewhere. Costs vary widely.

GC has don the hard part! I'm going to work on the transcript. If the stream does not work out, then the entire conversation will be transcripted. If the stream does become a reality, then I might just post a transcript of the more interesting and important segments.

It was a very interesting morning, Gael!
Although I had been in touch with John Green before, by way of emails and on the phone, (Also the fact that he lives just a half hour's drive from me!) you have to spend time in his presence to discover what a remarkably, well spoken and articulate thinking person he is. I am sure that this does not come as anything new to some people here.
He is truly genuine in his generosity to spend time with someone..no matter who they are in the Bigfoot Community!
He would give, you or I, the same amount of time and attention as he would any of the Big Names in Bigfoot research! He does not draw a line. If you have the interest..then he will find the time! I will be going back! smile.gif
JayleeD
The morning you spent with John Green sounds like it was perfect GC. Too bad there are not more like him in this field. Freely giving of their time and knowledge without expecting something other than good conversation in return. There are some who will take and take and not give anything to you except a bunch of hot air. dry.gif

Yep, I've been burned, need to get over it....maybe reading your interview will help me do that.

Well it is my experience with the man that he indeed gives without reservation! Let me put it this way...I was freely given an open invitation to come and spend time the very first time I ever contacted him, some time back! Would you or I do that..to someone we do not even know? But he is a very clever man. He can discern who is truly involved in the hunt for truth and who is just wasting his time. Just like sighting reports! wink.gif

Bipto, not sure if you're on a Mac?...but if you are, Apple makes a free "QuickTime Broadcaster" that allows you to stream 1 QuickTime stream at a time from your server. (Maybe make a sign-up sheet or something with a password protect?) Also, on the off chance you have a .Mac account, Quicktime movies/audio can be streamed from there...again probably one at a time.

True story..about green men....
when i was a kid growing up we had a neighbor who had a older son who was not quite all there....he kept telling us that he was seeing green men... it went on for some time untill we ask him to show us...one night he was over to the house late and wanted to show us the green men....well we all though he was either crazy or we were gong to see some little green men.... we followed him through the field..then through the woods.. then crawled up a bank of soil to see the green men.....well we were watching the local army base droping off men in camo that were landing with parachutes....so the mystery of the green men was solved....he wasnt crazy....at all....just wasnt able to know whats happening....

FYI, I'm just about done with my first pass through the interview. I'll start transcribing on the second pass. It's very interesting! It will make a fine addition to the BIP site. Thanks again to GC for pulling this off!

He is a very kind man Vol! Very soft spoken and a fine communicator..!
All of the things I ain't! wink.gif
We taped for 70 minutes and then I stayed on for another 2 hours! The casts were kewl! The books were great! But the man was simply a joy be be around! He has a subtle sense of humor and often times wears the shadow of a smile. (It is up to the individual as to why he is smiling to himself! I preferred to think that it was not because I was making a fool of myself! )
He is a gracious host. And a truly friendly being! And his candor off the record is amazing!!
