Awhile back there was a story on the bfro telling of a man who was placing alot of camera traps around his property, after coming across evidence in his vicinity. I believe he was from Alaska. Anyone see anything about this guy recently?? I want to pick up a trap since some bait I have put out, hanging from a branch is disappearing. I guess if someone got a great picture with a camera trap we would have heard of it. But has anyone got a 'partial' of a 'maybe' by one of these devices?? Or are the BF really that smart to avoid the setup? Thanks, the Finn

Where do you live?

I wouldn´t spend a lot of money on making a camera trap unless there were plenty of BF reports in your area.

I doubt any creature is "smart enough" to avoid a camera trap forever. But it's true that a smart creature would know that a trap set (even electronic) "reeks of man".

As a trapper, I can assure you that wolves are quite smart. And if your set goes off without catching a wolf, he becomes "educated". Then he becomes incredibly smart. You can actually see their work in the snow, avoiding legholds under the snow, working around snares, investigating, and actually leaving when they become too nervous to touch anything. They can become so smart as to CONSISTENTLY take your bait without getting caught. Even with multiple traps (snares, legholds, etc.), they can smell their way right through it. Even when you use wolf urine from another area (even female urine), they can smell your involvement. Their nose "knows".

But a camera trap can be set from trees, or otherwise far from the bait, with only the shutter "trigger" at the bait. Your major problem will be battery life in both camera and trigger, and the scent of the electronic "trigger".

And what good would such a trap be, anyway? Behold what folks are doing with the PG film. Like the kill-community among us say, only a dead body will solve the "mystery" conclusively.

But.......

Come to think of it, some good photos can be as financially lucrative as a best seller. Indeed, good photos can be perfect for someone who is greedy enough to want profit from sasquatch while still ultimately protecting them: the photos can bring in money, and the skeptical reception from those who will deny the existance of sasquatch even after you rub their noses in a carcass will keep society in the denial attitude.

I am in Michigan, though other parts of the state have had more action. Counties to the east and south have had activity in the past couple of years. There are black bear around, and they do climb trees. The last food I put out I hung waaayy off the ground. Probably too high for even a Sas. We will see.

as for a good picture i think the people on the oln show mysterious encounters got a rather thought provoking shot on one of their trips. it was from a camera trap and i got a dark out line of what one would call a typical bigfoot head. it was almost a siloete[sp] with the usual shape and pointed head. i thought it was a bigfoot pic although there isnt any definitive clarity just the black shape infront of a early dawn sky

Welcome to the BFF chrisandclauida2!

Here's the scoop on that picture you mentioned that was shown on the OLN series.

QUOTE
According to Matt Moneymaker the photo is that of a rear end of a squirrel, in Louisiana. He's more conclusive about it than OLN wants to be. He was there when the photo was found, on a game tracker among various other shots from Louisiana, showing the same types of trees in the background. He pointed out the tail (the "head" of the unknown creature) and the hind leg (the "shoulder" of the unknown creature) to Autumn and company. They supposedly didn't want to include it in the show, but OLN heard about it and started hyping it before the episode was even edited, so it had to go in.

Hey, hey! Let's here it for credible investigation! Way to go OLN.

I hope you enjoy your stay at BFF. smile.gif
