Almost all Louisiana sightings I've read occurred in the extreme western part of the state (Texas border), the extreme east (Honey Island Swamp and all that) and the north. On the Gulf Coast Bigfoot Research Organization site, thy list three in St. Martin Parish (parish is synonymous with county), which is adjacent to my parish. I'm convinced one of the sightings was a simple misidentification, but the other two are possibly genuine. I e-mailed the GCBRO for location details, but they declined, saying the cases were sill under investigation. I was wondering if anyone here would have any knowledge of these sightings. I'm not going to try and interview anybody. I just want to see where they happened, especially one that was allegedly reported by a sheriff's deputy on a road at night. There is a road in St. Martin Parish that had a few b.f. stories that I'd heard growing up, and the location is picturesque for a "monster" encounter, but I'd always written them off as local myth. Any information anyone may have regarding sightings in St. Martin Parish or the Acadiana region in general would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Guy, I grew up in Louisiana. Although it's been a very long time ago and I was very young, I remember people talking about a supposed bigfoot that was seen not far out of the town of Mansfield.
Like I said, I was very young, probably twelve years old when I heard those stories. But, there were a lot of legends around there and a bigfoot movie was even filmed there on Clear Lake. That was the movie "The Creature From Black Lake".
Mansfield is in the northwestern part of Louisiana, approximatey 40 or 50 miles south of Shreveport and close to the Louisiana/Texas state line.
