I have been watching for this but guess I missed it. Will have to keep an eye peeled

Enkidu,
Sheesh. I don't know how much your son has been exposed to BF reports and hopefully he hasn't heard of some of the more hair-raising reports. That's quite a dilemma!
I am not quite sure how I would go about comforting my kids if they acted frightened about going outside due to BF because that hasn't happened to me (although my son is 13 and daughter is almost 2). I guess I would try to be honest and say "they are probably more afraid of you than you are of them and they try to stay away from people."
Not that that would help much.
I remember though, being a kid, and how your mind can run rampant with images of monsters in the dark, in the closet, under the bed, etc. I used to have horrible nightmares about those little green "oompah men" in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! (dumb, I know.. but they scared me when I was a kid!)
That's a tricky one. How old is he?
