It's really too bad because the book by Dean koontz is great and HAS NOTHING to do with that pile of crap film they made. It would be great if somebody with competence were to remake it. It would be an amazing film.

Actually it was a very interesting book! They just butchered it to make a buck!

That describes nearly every movie based on a novel.

Much of the time..but I thought LotR was very well done. As well as others who were very true to their book's format. You know, without making an entirely different story out of it.

Ok Im thoroughly confused now..Did they remake "Watchers" ? All I can think of is the original version with Corey Haim and Micheal Ironside..From the *0's and the subsequent I,II,III etc that followed..

Watchers is one of my top 5 favorite books ever, but both movies I've seen totally sucked.

True GC, but not every movie made that is based on a novel has a gazillion buck budget and the cast and crew that worked on LofTR.

im confused as well. wasnt watchers (the book) about a dog? wasnt watchers (the movie) an old betty davis ghost story?
i kept seeing 'watchers' listed on the scrolling guide thingy, but i ignored it, thinking it was one of the above...dammit.

I don't know about Bette Davis, Gael, but the Dean Koontz book "Watchers" (yep, the one with the dog) has been made into a movie twice... the one with Corey Haim wouldn't have been too bad to a viewer who wasn't familiar with the outstanding (imho

) book, but it was still severely lacking. The other one was horrible, and from what I remember, waaaaayyyyy different than the book.

I'll have to check out that Dean Koontz book, Stacy, especially if it's one of your all time faves!!
You all know how I feel about LOTR so I'll restrain myself.

I'm almost done reading ROTK.

Maybe its because its NOT about BIgfoot! I have the movie and no where does it say Bigfoot.
Its a man made being that chases the dog..... and kills people that the dog is around.

Ummmm., nobody but Bigtoe said anything about Bigfoot .......... which makes me wonder which "Watchers" movie he's watching. Might not necessarily be the one(s) based on the Koontz book.

Dean Koontz is an old favorite. I just picked up Eaters of the Dead based on reviews by members on a different thread. I think they were talking about a movie called the Village?? being made by the drector who made Signs. They were asking if it was based on this book or something, but I couldn't find the info in the thread.
Any other Sasquatch-type fction worth reading? ...Besides Long's book!

Eaters of the Dead......
Is that not a Crieghton book?
They made a movie from it with Antonio Bandaras called The Thirteenth Warrior! I think it is loosly based on Beowulf!

You know susan..I have LOTR on audio cassettes (as well as the Hobbit) Each cassette is one hour long..so 12 hours in total! I listen to it once a year in total. Usually on my birthday...if possible.
Before that I used to read the trilogy once a year every summer since I was in my early twenties....a long time ago!
That is how much you can fall in love with the entire world of Middle Earth!
I have a feeling that you are experiencing this for yourself!
