So, a guy I work with sees me browsing the forums today, and he tells me that his mom gave him a box of books to dispose of. Since most of the books were in pretty crappy condition, he was just going to toss them. He said that she had an interest in BF, so there may be some books in there that I could have. After work I go to the guy's house, and he actually has a couple of boxes full of books. As I'm going through them, I'm starting to get a little disappointed. Then I find it! In really good condition, it is a first edition copy of John Green's
Sasquatch: The Apes Among Us! The book still has the dust jacket which is in pretty good shape. No tears! The book itself is extremely clean with no bent pages, no markings, no spine damage...nothing! Did I say no markings? There is some ink on the title page. Right under John Green's name someone signed "John Green."
I have been dying to get a copy of this book, and have been tempted to fork over some major bucks to get a copy. I'm glad I didn't! I told my co-worker that he could get some decent money on eBay for it, but he just said, "Take it." I made him call his mom and tell her about the autograph and what the book might be worth, and she said she had asked Green to sign it at some kind of symposium in the early eighties. She said that she was quite done with the book, and it was mine to keep or sell! Woohoo! I am so flippin' stoked!
Okay, maybe not the find of the century, but pretty dang cool!
Not that I don't trust the woman, but does anyone know where I can find an image of John Green's signature, just in case?
