I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed in this forum.
One of my favorite encounters is the William Roe encounter. William Roe supposedly encountered a bf while hiking on Mica Mountain in British Columbia back in 1955. The thing that makes this encounter so special is his detailed description of the creature (he was hidden in the bushes and the bf was eating leaves 20 ft in front of him). He was close enough he could even see the bf's teeth...talk about being close! He signed an affidavit swearing to the authenticity of his encounter and it can be seen here:

http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=1083I consider this encounter to be one of the best of its kind...very detailed and close-up.
Any thoughts on what you think of this?

I've always thought this is right up there with the Thomas sighting in Oregon. The drawing provides confirmation for the appearance of a presumably lactating female 12 years before the P-G film. (G. Long might argue that it provided the inspiration for the costume in the P-G film.) The ears have always bothered me a little though, and I've also wondered what circumstances led him to provide an affidavit.

Yeah, I've always thought the ears looked a little strange on this creature. Nice description and drawing otherwise.
True..why bother with an affidavit? Perhaps when he told others about the story, he received such great criticism, that was his way of dealing with it? Hard to say.

This Roe story is amongst my favorite bigfoot story. And for that he is a true hunter knowing when not to shoot things that is more human for that matter.

Yes, great story. No reason to doubt it that I know of.

Possibly lots of ridicule and suggestions of insanity.
Swearing, legally, to something is a step or two above merely making a claim.

The description, and even the drawing, is amazingly similar to what we see in the P/G film, right down to the length of the hair (which brings to mind one skeptical expert's opinion that no primate has a coat of hair that is of uniform length all over). And its behavior is also reminiscent of Patty, in that it did not run or panic even when it was so obviously surprised by Roe's presence -- it turned a walked away briskly, looking back at him.
It would truly be a riot if Long should come out now with the claim that it was Roe's story and drawing that inspired the mythical gorilla suit! We all know he lurks here all the time (I see his name down there frequently when I'm browsing through posts). Wouldn't put him past it, though. That's his kind of investigating, after all.

Actually, that has been suggested by someone..that the Roe bf was the "model" for the PG film..I'll have to do some searching and find the link that suggested that.

Interesting -- but the point still stands. It's way too late for Mr. Long to come out and make this claim, just in case he reads this thread and decides to do some "flashback investigating".
Sorry, Long, you're stuck with the lies and deceit you've already decided to print.

Blame it on irrepressible John Green! He required Roe..and also Ostman to sign papers attesting to the truth of what they were reporting when he personally interviewed both people.
Then he placed those stories in his book
On the Trail of Sasquatch!

Ah, so. Sounds plausible.
