Full Version: Not so 'big' foot ?

I was experimenting earlier, and found that my own foot, makes a 13.5" impression on the ground when walking !

Admittedly, my feet are bigger than most, and I am 6'4" and 280lbs, but even so, 'patty' at around 6'5" and 500lbs still only had a 14.5" print.

I also noticed, that with the exception of the big toe, all my toes look the same size - infact, the little toe actually make an impression of the side of the toe, which makes it look the same size as the others, and on a fairly even slant (probably down to ill-fitting shoes)

It goes to show though, that the human print is completely distinguishable from a BF print because of the arch of the foot - even someone fairly flat-footed like me has a prominent arch in the prints, even if (as in my case) the overall shape of the foot is very similar.

There are of course a few other differences that distinguish my prints from those of BF, but I thought the size was interesting - obviously 14.5" is at the small end of a BF print.

Apart from anything else, I got a brand new avatar out of it ! wink.gif

So Bigfeet have flat feet. Also, I read and have seen pictures that some BF in the PNW have a double ball under their big toe instead of a single one like people. This was a long time ago and I think it was Ivan Sanderson who put that in writing. But I don't think they all have the double ball. Anybody know? icon_question.gif biggrin.gif

Paul, so like.... whats the width of your foot across the base of the toes?
whats your big toe dimension (width by length) and your heel width?
You have been to America before? LOL
Ella
Abubis, please tell us the news on your brother. We have all been very concerned. I hope it's good. We care a lot, so please post.
Anubis
He's home now, still unresponsive and minimally consious.

Speaking of him, I gotta go get him dressed right now.

Hey, Anubis. Good to "see" you and I'm glad to hear that your brother is at home too.

Hope you'll visit more often as long as you've got the chance. How's school so far this year?

Hey Anubis. Glad you stopped in for a minute. I know you don't have much time for posting....so it is extra special that you did!

i have heard the term "double ball" , too........don,t think it means much....they have the same bones that we have so whats a double ball?......i think it is a reference to the additional crease sometimes seen in the prints and casts.......this crease is on the OUTSIDE edge....occurance is likely due to thickness of the fatty pad between the skin and muscles on the bottom of the foot and the highly flexible nature of that foot.....which most of us now know bends one more joint toward the ankle.........like apes

Thanx. Jon! That book was written more than 40 years ago--the one I read--and times have changed. laugh.gif
