I don't think the government could keep this secret. I'm not saying the government doesn't cover stuff up. Clearly they do. However, mostly it's just embarrassing or slightly illegal stuff limited to a relatively small group of people. To keep this secret for the purpose of protecting the timber industry would require the participation of hundreds (maybe thousands?) in the Dept of Agriculture and the Forestry Service. I assume there are many in Forestry who would love to be able to prove bigfoot exists.

Now, I'm not saying the government doesn't believe. They might. And they may not be pursuing definitive investigation precisely because a new endangered species that also happens to be a primate closely related to us would, I'm sure, put tremendous pressure on the timber industry. So I'm voting 'no', but I agree with your general premise.

I voted other on this poll, because while I believe the government does know about their existence, I don't think they are covering it up to protect the timber industries. I lean more towards thinking they are just not going public in order to hold down the problems that are sure to erupt once these creatures existence is proven. I think they might even believe the best way to protect them, is for them not to be publicized.

I do not believe the government is Big Brother and into keeping secrets about UFO's and Bigfoot....that is paranoid and weird  ......but who knows?
Arkansan
An article of interest about whether or not the government is aware of bigfoot existence.
msfit32
Yeah I've read that before.....it sounds suspiciously like the whole Alien Autopsy story...Huge goverment conspiracies and cover-ups and blah blah blah......ex-military revealing secrets etc etc....I dont believe it icon_confused.gif .

You couldn't keep a secret like that if all those folks knew....besides a story like that will get the whacko's saying bigfoot is a government prototype for a robot gone amuck or something.....its far too National Enquirer for me to buy.....

But if you do icon_mrgreen.gif no offense!!!

This is just too far out there for me, like ancient Indian dialects, blue glowing belts, bigfoot in conjuction with UFOs...etc icon_blob.gif

Well think about all the people who aren't government that know about them MsFit. Why would someone being in government knowing about them be any different than us knowing? The individuals themselves aren't going to talk about it anymore than the rest of the population, for fear of ridicule same as anyone else. Not until someone does make it acceptable to say you saw one. That is the reason they didn't give their names. The higher ups in government might have no idea about them, but I think the ones out in the woods on manuevers probably do. Do you think the public would believe someone more just because they were in the armed forces when they had their sighting and not believe the doctor, lawyer, cop or forest ranger who reported their sighting? I am pretty sure all of government is not aware of them, but as much training as some do in thick deep deserted forested areas, some near other sighting reports, how could they NOT know they exist?

It's true that the wackos would do just what you said. But they were already doing it without the aid of this report. smile.gif

Well they may not be keeping secrets about UFO's and alien autopsies, but they sure as heck know how to cover up money and drug dealings within the government they don't want known.
msfit32
OOOH....I get whatcha saying.....oh I don't doubt for one moment that people who work for the government have seen a bigfoot thingamajigger....

But that is different than saying THE GOVERNMENT is in on a great bigfoot conspiracy...whoever THE GOVERNMENT is  icon_confused.gif.......

True MsFit... biggrin.gif

I voted other simply for the reason, while I agree that the Govt. coners up endless things they would have to be on a par with the bigfoot hoax extreme theory to cover it up for any extended length of time.they woul(as the hoaxers would)have to have such a secret society within the govt. to cover up everything for too long of a period by to many people within said society and nobody even talking about it ever to pull it off.more reasonable to just seperate any govt. or non govt. person or agency into categories just like us .i.e.believer, non-believer,or skeptic with an open mind.

You really think those gubmint people have gotten that close? ohmy.gif icon_razz.gif

My take. Is the government aware of their existence? Probably. Are they covering it up? No. Sure, they're not publicizing it either but it's not a matter of national security and they're not going to admit to having bigfoot running around on a military base (Eglin comes to my mind) because they don't want to deal with having to round up every bigfoot researcher that sneaks onto their bases. They're in the business of war, not bigfoot research.

I gotta agree with Fish on this one .... they know, they aint tellin'.
I also think they may have one, if not several specimens already.

A thought on the Gov and UFOs, ...

If the Government has no knowledge of aliens, then WHY does Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations, implemented on July 16, 1969, make it ILLEGAL for U.S. citizens to have any contact with extraterrestrials or their vehicles icon_question.gif :!: icon_question.gif :!:

They certainly dont make frivolous laws or regulations against, say, the Loch Ness "Monster" or Chessie (Chesapeake Bay) or any other lake monster, or bigfoot or .... (goes on and on, listing alleged animals and mythical beasts) now do they ? Huummmm?? LOL

Uh OH....those poor women in the Alien Abduction support group are gonna be in trouble icon_eek.gif !!!!! What is the sentence I wonder?
Ken Y.
Hi all

Yes there is a fine for the wanton killing of a Sasquatch in Skamania county. $25,000.00 and some Jail time, 5 or 10 years they passed the law in 1968 (?) right around then. I agree that there shouldn't be a fine for shooting mythical creature like a Unicorn. But Frankly I would blast it, Just remember once you piss it off and/or if its mate charges you from the opposite direction you better have the b*lls to finish the job or you will have the most real mytical creature you ever seen pull your limbs from your torso. I do suggest that you all carry some sort of weapon with you. It couldn't hurt.

Sasquatch is also listed by the dept. of the interior as a real animal i saw a report on the internet about this anyone got any leads on this??
thanks ken

For real MsFit. That reminds me of that law....what was it? Oh yea...commiting suicide is illegal and can involve jail time!
Remind me that if I ever kill myself, I will end up in jail!

i think ....no.....in faact the soil conservation service listed bigfoot as an endangered species to exercise control over a farmer a few years back....the logging industry might be something else.....krantz thought so.....

Ken, there is a similar law in Fouke, Arkansas for hunting/killing "The Fouke Monster" that has been in effect since around that same time.
Ken Y.
it is all about the money.

The timber lobby in the PNW pay there law makers and congressmen to keep the log trucks rolling to the mills.

If a sasquatch got nailed by a log truck in the woods the endangered species act would kick in and there would be no more logging.

Last year a friend of mine burned to death in a wildfire in washington. Because, the firefighting company wouldn't pull water out of a nearby river because of the endangered bull trout presence in the river.

But there is just to much money to be made, and Corperate greed and the pin heads in washington only do what is best for there own interests.

Arky, I tend to agree with you. A most sensible reply. smile.gif

If your logging companies or government wanted to keep Bigfoot hidden they'd probabley gather together a few elite shooters and massacre the Sasquatch population, or leave out cyanide baits for them.

My government on the other hand would put them in detention centres for being in Australia without a passport or not having applied at an embassy!
