I know we've talked before about bigfoot in cartoons, but have you heard of any references to bf in TV shows?
I saw the commercial for "Yes Dear" a sit-com on CBS that is airing tonight. I don't watch this type of show, too silly and all that canned laughter drives my nuts. Anyway, one brother is writing a TV show and he says to his brother who is giving him heck, "Are you afraid I might be more successful than you?"
To which his brother comes back with, "Yea sure, that and bigfoot are kepping me up nights."

lol thats funny jaylee
i dont watch that show either, as i'm always at work in the evenings so i miss all the sitcoms. i used to be really hooked on x files, then on six feet under on hbo, but now our tv gets watched about 2 hours a week...if that.
i like to watch south park, and i was thinking yesterday how funny they could make a bigfoot episode, even as a recurring character...
i was watching a fishing show one night just after a ME show was on, and the dudes in the boat fishing said something about watching for bigfoot.
so thats about all i've seen, but i barely watch. i'm more a compter/bookreading nerd

Simpsons...in an episode during the first season everbody thought Hommer was bigfoot.
Another episode had a film crew shooting a bigfoot movie. The guy playing bigfoot had his watch on.
A frame or two from that episode would make a great avator.

Gael, and other SouthPark avicionados,
Wasn't there an episode where they take out kyle and kenny on a hunting trip, the one where the volcanic mountain is going to/and does erupt? In that episode, they tell scary stories of the mountain guy with, what, a sheep's leg? something weird.
and they're shooting at Cartman thinking he's it. And in the end the thing ends up saving them and they still shoot it.j Wasn't it a Bigfoot/Abominable SM type creature?

There have been numerous references to Bigfoot on "Married...With Children", as well. Peg made one mention, Marcy made numerous references (all pertaining to Al) and Al even called his mother-in-law a Bigfoot.

Dexter's Laboratory on the Cartoon Network recently featured a Bigfoot in a plot.
I have my TIVO set to record any programs whose descriptions contain the words "Bigfoot" or "Sasquatch". There's actually "a lot" out there; at least a few shows every month.
Are you donig a study or something? This could be a really interesting topic for a thesis in communications.

I recall this one show, dexter's lab on cartoon network, they did an epi where the blonde one befriended a sasquatch, if my memory serves she called him sassy.
and this other cartoon, from when I was little, I think it was the angry beavers or something, had someone looking for a bigfoot spoof, Big-Bootox, or something.

As long as we're talking about cartoons. Scobby Doo Where Are You has an episode with a Yeti looking creature at a ski lodge.
Jonny Quest, the old one also had an episode about the abominable snowman.
On the Herculoids they have the rock ape named Igoo that resembles a bigfoot to me though they've never called it anything other than a rock ape.
Commercials.....I saw the Cingular commercial where the preppy looking tourist is hiking in the woods when bigfoot steps out and shakes his butt and makes fun of the tourist because he thinks he doesn't have a camera. The tourist whips out his camera phone and the bigfoot asks him if he's calling his mommy. I thought it was a cute commercial. At the end the tourist is walking away and the bigfoot asks him if he wants to play chase.

I caught a rerun of "Everybody Loves Raymond" last week, where Robert (Ray's gigantic brother, for anyone not familiar with the show) was accusing Ray of stealing his galoshes one rainy schoolday when they were young. So, he had to walk in the rain, and when he got to school, the other kids laughed and called him "Sas-squish."

"Spanish Fry", Episode #417.
When the Planet Express gang goes camping in the woods for their company outing and Fry goes searching for an encounter with his favorite legendary figure, Bigfoot -- he is beamed aboard a spaceship and returned the next day without a nose. Fry learns that humans everywhere have been losing their noses and aliens are profiting for the sale of "human horns." A suggestion from Leela and a surprise visitor aim at keeping the human face safe.
And there is also a Walt Disney movie "A Goofy Movie" (1995)
Where Goofy catches Bigfoot with a perfect cast and a big steak for bait.

The old TV show "Six Million Dollar Man" had an episode of him squaring off against Bigfoot. I didn't see that one but I'm told Bigfoot turns out to be a robot (go figure).
I also recall a really old late '60s show called something like "Here Come the Brides" set in late 1800s Seattle where a Sasquatch-type being was running around scaring people. I believe it turned out to be a really big, tall Native American.
Wow, this stuff is really rolling out ... I don't know if it still runs on TV at Christmas but the old Rudolph animated special had a run in with some type of abominable snowman.
I really love the cell phone commerical that's been running lately. Wasn't there another commerical (I think for a car) that had a Sasquatch running around back and forth in the background, and I think the BF ended up driving off in the vehicle? Maybe I'm getting a couple of different ads mixed up.

The "Bigfoot" in the Six Millon Dollar Man TV show was a robot built by space aliens to scare people away from their secret base camp in the mountains. It was actually a 2-part episode so I don't know if that counts as 1 episode broken into 2 parts or 2 seperate episodes.
The "Bigfoot" robot also made a return later on in the Six Millon Dollar Man spin off TV show, The Bionic Woman.
As for the "Rudolph The Red Nosed Raindeer" claymation kids special (which is still played at Christmas time), they had a run in with what they first call "The Abominable" and later in the story they refer to him as "A Bumble". SkunkHunter features him as his avatar in all his posts.

As far Kong, I happened across this looking for

for the cartoon)...
QUOTE
Peter Jackson's faithful remake
When you hear Peter Jackson is going to remake King Kong, you may think of all the revolutionary possibilities the director of Lord of the Rings might bring to the iconic figure. Don’t get too carried away, because Jackson’s intentions are actually to be as faithful to the 1933 version as possible, only with special effects that modern moviegoers will accept. The original was one of the first films Jackson fell in love with at age nine, and he just wants to make a film that modern nine-year-olds will see the way he sees the original.
“There is a generation of kids today that don’t watch black and white films anymore,” Jackson said. “Our generation does do that. I was fine. I love old films and I saw them all the way through my childhood and wasn’t concerned at all. But your average teenage kid today just isn’t interested in black and white films anymore. They won’t watch them. Therefore, the time has passed that King Kong, that lovable story, is really not being seen by the young kids so I just thought it’s a very good time to do a remake of Kong that can preserve everything that I loved about the original. I don’t want to change what I loved about it. I don’t want to reinvent it because it doesn’t need reinventing. It’s not going to be different. It’ll be everything that I love about the original. It is a wonderful story. I just thought it’s a good time to give kids a realistic looking Kong because that’s what they’re going to respond to.”
Expanding on his personal connection to Kong, Jackson added, “I owe King Kong a huge debt personally because it really did get me wanting to be a filmmaker. I truly don’t think I would have been a filmmaker if I hadn’t been exposed to that movie on TV in New Zealand when I was about nine years old. It just got me so excited about fantasy and the escapism of film. I was swept away and transported to another world when I saw that film. It was a love affair that began at that point with me for fantastic cinema and storytelling.”
Jackson’s co-producer and co-writer Fran Walsh confirmed that they would remain true to the 1933 original. “The 1933 version is the one that Peter fell in love with and that will be our template for the film we make.”

Variety's original 1933 review conceded that "after the audience becomes used to the machinelike movements and other mechanical flaws in the gigantic animals on view, and become accustomed to the phony atmosphere, they may commence to feel the power." The showbiz Bible Variety complained, however, "it's a film-long screaming session for [Wray], too much for any actress and any audience."
