Hi all, i did Post in the Members sections a while back about a Track i found whilst vacationing on the Olympic Penisula but i have now finally caught back up with work since coming Home & sorting some personal sh*t out & i'd like to have everyone's thoughts etc if possible in a section of the Forum that is viewed more..
Anyway, below is the details of how the Track, one solitary Track, was found...
Pictures below it..
I found a Track on one of the Trails ( completely seperate to these Pics below & on the North Shore ) which i am convinced & am as certain as certain can be that it's a Human having a joke as the location of it was at the entrance, in a damp area, to one of the Huge Tree's there..
But then i ventured down to the River a fair few miles away ( on the South Shore of Lake Quinault ) & stopped at a part of the River where i saw it was accessible ( Water's incredibly low ) so i did, with the Camera just to take some scenic shots & upon getting out to the River Bed, i found lots & lots & lots of Rock Piles, little one's & big one's ( took Pics ) that i just found strange & to top of my feeling of strangeness, on the way back to the Car coming back from the River & just off where it would naturally flow if it was full, i found what i am 99% certain as being another barefoot Track which i also got a Picture of & put my Trainer to give it some Scale ( i'm a Size US 9.5 ) & this Track which was barefoot along with what i was pretty sure was Toes, was a lot bigger, maybe 5 Inches or so, maybe even more looking again at the Picture..
Now with regards to " THE " Print, it was a tough situation for me to be in as i was with my Dad & was at the mercy of his ridicule & i didn't have anywhere near as much time right there & then as i would have had if i was on my own so i couldn't really measure it or give a better to scale Picture..
I'm a little dissapointed that the 2 Pics didn't actually come out a bit better as in the flesh they were pretty clear to me, had no Boot Print Pattern in them whatsoever, were barefoot ( if they were feet ) impressions which in my opinion had Toe Scuffs & a very prominent Big Toe scuff..
It looks good to me, honestly & i find it interesting that they were in the direct access point as to where i found the Rock Piles.
With regards to the Stride, it was big enough to go from a 6 - 8 ft jump area which went stones ( where no impressions could be seen ), to the area where the impression was ( one impression only ) then on to the Cobbles of the dry River Bed..
I know there has been a couple of Thread on Rock Piles over the past couple of Years & there are Members that dismiss them as Human made Markers, Pranksters etc but for the life of me i can't work out why those 2 reasons i give would be the cause of these specific one's i found, it just wouldn't make sense..
I have searched without success to a link to these Piles & the Quinault Tribe/Nation but have come up with nothing, i laughed off a Guy who told me it was Kids playing about as Kids would not have been able to do them i very much doubt & i can't see how Kids would have been in that place & just, to me, doubled with a Print that i saw with my own eyes & i find it very coincidental, that's all...

Hard to see a lot of detail in there, but it may be a bear track with the front and rear overlaying a little bit. I see hints of nail in there towards the mid part of the track. I know you're far from there now, but if you spot something like this again try to get a few different angles with the pics

Its really hard to tell though, I may be wayyy off here. (wish i could see more details hehe)

That's a decent shout RR but i'm thinking there would have been more due to the size of the Muddy area & not just an overlap of two steps, do you know what i mean ??
I was actually adament at the time that there were Toe Prints/Toe Scuffs & i didn't initially spot any Claws after i puposely looked in that area ( top of Toes ) as i took a step back & thought about what i should do & thought about what i've learnt & what to possibly look for & how i could rule things out..
It was difficult too as i mentioned, given the fact that my Dad was there & wanting to get out of there as he was a bit paranoid about the local Wildlife ( me too, the only Bears i like are in Chicago ) as it was without me bringing 8ft Ape's into the equation..

Yeah it would be more likely to find other tracks in the area if the substrate was good for it. I cant make out much detail on those pics to see the finer points you could in person! I bet it was pretty exciting to find.

Looks like a beautiful area you were in there!
Heres a couple of great examples of what I thought it could be. A lot of people may mistake these pics I'm linking for bigfoot prints. The person that took the photos in this link is fairly knowledgable for animal sign.

Pretty sure that Track i looked at wasn't like those though..
Sadly probably not a great deal we can do about it now though & i should have done a few different angles, pretty sure i couldn't zoom in more on it though as i tried to if i recollect correctly but there wasn't enough light in the shot to take an actual Picture & at that time i wanted to pay attention to it with my own eyes & the Picture taking was secondary to me at the time....
I doubt that the Bear, if it was a Bear that made that Track, made the Rock Piles though..

You mena the High Resolution one's ??
I'll email them to you if you want, don't think the Forum Board could take the High Res Pics, they're 2.5MB or so i think..
They're not cropped at all either just to let you know..
