I was finally able to trackdown a copy of BIGFOOT: MAN OR BEAST? The question that I have is about how this copy that is floating about, is if there is an ORIGINAL 1971 version available or has it been lost forever?
The version I have was recorded from TBS and the first logo slate says “American National Enterprises Presents…….. A Rainbow Adventure Film.” The copyright at the head of th efilm reads: American National Enterprises Inc, 1971. The opening credits list the “Host & Narrator” as J. English Smith. However at the end, there is a different copyright holder which reads: Bostonia Film Co., 1975 and the “Narrator” as Phil Tonkin. So, not only do the copyright holders and dates not match, the narrator changes mid-film.
I think I remember reading that the original 1971 documentary was cut together with the later, 1975 footage of the Robert Morgan search around Mt. Saint Helens, but have not been able to find the full story on this classic title. Having worked in film archives for years, I tend to be a little obsessed with finding original copies of films and wonder if it is possible to find the full 1971 version.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
