Vote for Cliff!

'Squatch the Vote!

There comes a time for each of us to stand up and do what's right. No hiding in the shadows, no waiting for it to go away. Stand tall, and be counted. It's one of the founding principles of our democracy. It's what makes us special as Americans, and as bigfooters.

I consider myself to be a "Pioneer of the Outdoors". Quite a strong title, yes, but certainly bigfooters in general deserve this title, and in this case I am proud to represent us all (keep reading, you're getting to the point...).

We use the outdoors for a reason that almost nobody else in the world does. We are unconventional explorers. We are visionaries. We push the envelop, both scientifically and socially. We put ourselves on the line, braving bad weather, carnivorous predators, and other dangers inherent in the wilds of North America. All this to do what? To come face to face with a real live monster. You'd think most folks would avoid that situation, but we lust for it. We crave it. We give up much for the cause.

To these ends, I call upon you, my bigfooting brethren to VOTE for the video I have entered into a contest sponsored by Columbia Sportswear. It's simply called, "'Squatchin' with Cliff", and can be found at this link. I think it's entertaining, and I also think I can win this contest with your help. I don't get much (you can read the rules on the website, if you care) if I win, but I'm doing it for the 'squatch, just like most everything else I do in this realm.

Thanks, everybody. I'll keep you posted on the results.

Yeah, there are 3 other videos in the running, and they don't have anything to do with what Columbia Sportswear is about. How did Cliff get in the nomination? I would have nominated this guy:

Neat stuff, thanks for posting. Nice moonshine run vibe to the whole piece. I guess that's Cliff on the guitar, too?

Hi Everybody,

First of all, I'd like to extend my gratitude to you, the bigfooting community. You stepped up to the plate and helped me with the Columbia Sportswear Pioneers of the Outdoors video competition. As many of you noted, I was kicking some serious booty.

However, a travesty of justice has occurred. For an unknown reason, my votes and views were reset to zero, and I am being forced to climb that metaphoric ladder again. Is this discrimination? Is Columbia fearful of being represented by a bigfooter? Did I hit the "glass ceiling" of bigfooting in the public eye? Is it a government conspiracy? (just kidding, folks...)

Whatever the case, I still want to win. At first I wanted to win to get the $500 gift certificate, which I will split with my videographer, Craig Flipy. Now I want to win to show them that the bigfooting community stands together. I want to win because it's the right thing to have happen. I want to win to give a big "up yers" to those who don't want me to.

So, will you please help me, once again?

Here are some things you might want to know:
We can vote once per day.
The voting ends on November 13th, 2009.
My video's the coolest.

Armed with the above info, we can count on many hundreds of votes being cast, ensuring victory for us all.

The link to the voting can be found through my blog: http://northamericanbigfoot.blogspot.com/2...ote-update.html

Thank you,

No problem.

You got so many votes they probably thought there was cheating involved.

Sorry to hear of the subterfuge. I will write a letter/send an email to the company stating that I will boycott their goods (I am a consumer of outdoors gear/clothing etc.) if they do not re-attribute your vote history to your campaign. Depending on the reply I will let all rafting outfitters in the Eastern half of the country and outfitters/ hunting guides know about their bastardization of the "free vote" and the democratic process. I would encourage everyone to re-vote or vote for the first time to help out the democratic process inherent in Cliff's campaign.

Remember... we can only vote once a day... don't want his count reset to zero again because we can't follow the rules. thumbup.gif

Good luck, Cliff!

Voting ends on Friday. Anyone want to help?

If I am selected as their winner, I'll win $500 in Columbia gear, which I'll split with my videographer. I won't get to quit my day job, that's for sure. Still, I didn't do this for the prize. I did it for the fun of doing it.

I do not know when they'll announce the winner. According to the rules, voting was supposed to end on Friday, November 13th, but when I looked this morning one could still vote (so I did). I haven't read the rules in a while, though. I'm not really a "rules" kind of guy. Maybe they changed the ending date.

I was told that the voting numbers don't really matter much. Columbia is going to pick who they want to win based on many factors, and the votes/views are just one factor.

I think we did a great job showing Columbia that there's interest in the subject, though. If you take into consideration the 950+ views and 600 votes that vanished into thin air and add them to the 600 views and almost 400 votes that we've tallied this second time around, we buried the competition. I wanted to shed a little light on the fact that everybody loves the 'squatch. I think we did.

So, THANK YOU for helping! If/when Columbia contacts me, I'll let everyone know on my blog. Whether they pick my video or not, it's a victory for the 'squatch.

Ok, my prediction:

They'll see these overwhelming results, and one day while watching a JackLinks ad it will dawn on them...
and a new ad campaign will be born for Columbia.
