Monster Quest did a show this week on feral chimps down in Florida. It was one of the better ones that they had on. It described how these chimps went wild and how dangerous they are. Since they never learned the "customs" of their wild cousins they don't follow normal wild chimp behavior. This brings up a question, could the PA Sasquatch video be a feral chimp? It looks like one. could alot of the sightings in populated areas be really pets that are turned out into the wild and that is why they are attracted to our homes?

I would assume its the same with every animal that learns traits off their parents.

But Monsterquest found no proof of any feral chimps. The only attacks mentioned were by pet chimps.

I know LOL@Monsterquest.. they did their usual investigation. You know like we had a sighting in location A and C so we will investigate in location B. That way they don't look bad if they don't find anything and so nobody can prove them wrong.

Oh no, here we go again with the Monsterquest bash. I think it has been commented 1000 times that the show really is about entertainment and not real research. I am sure they would love to get something on film but the truth of the story is they want people, any person, to watch the show. Over and over so the rating stay high. I think there could be wild/ released chimps. If there is proof of snakes that have survived out in the wild why not chimps. I don't know if there really could be a breeding population. But......who really knows.

From what I understand many of the escaped chimps, apes and monkeys that have not been recpatured are actually documented as being so. The thought of crossing paths with a wild pissed off chimp is far more frightening to me then Sasquatch. Chimps can be so viscious as we have seen recently in the news.

By "PA Sasquatch video", do you mean the trail cam photos/Jacobs photos? I am firmy convinced the Jacobs photos are of a scrawny black bear. However, I would not doubt that at least some "bigfoot" sightings are due to feral chimps or other escaped known primate species.
I have to give Monsterquest some credit becuase they are bringing bigfoot out of the realm of ghosts and UFOs. Their approach, like most here, is that it is an undiscovered species of primate.

I did not mean to impugn Monsterquest. I like it and record it regularly.
I did not care for the feral chimps episode because it seemed to me they were just using the recent violent attacks by captive chimps to make a show. IMO someone at Monsterquest read about the chimp attacks and said BINGO! we got a show.

The History channel , Discovery channel and a few others are all owned by the same corporation and have a glaring tendency to take five minutes of information and stretch it(rather thinly at times) into an hour format. Viewing shows on these channels is more often a significant wast of my time.

Well they have to fill air time somehow.... 24 hours of NEWS on 15 different stations -- there's another example of this.
