There's a difference though between contacting the authorities ( Police etc.) and simply running across the road in a costume in an attempt to fool Bigfooters.
The one is seen as taking advantage of the taxpayers dollar and the officials time , and wasted resources. the second is in the eyes of most , simply a joke.

IMHO,there is now a safety issue involved in hoaxing.Costumed hoaxers might want to consider if they want to risk possibly getting shot at is worth the risk.Since the Ga hoax,there seem to be alot of folks that would shoot a BF in hopes of a payday.Looks like the pro- kill movement got a real boost after the hoax.People realized a body could possibly bring fame/fortune to whoever took the shot.I know youldn't catch me in a BF suit for love or money....
