Good recap of the alleged apemen around the world, but I didn't see the part that explains how blobsquatches and hoaxes become part of the lore...

In the comment section at Mental Floss I believe someone asserts it's a bonobo in a wig, but either way, it's not purported to be an actual Orang of any kind.
And it was an interesting run-down. Consider the readership of ScienceBlogs in general, it was refreshingly absent the scoftical overtones one might expect. I think there is more of a latent interest that is sometimes recognized but it only surfaces when nobody's looking.
whoops...just checked. I retract that comment about the readership as ScienceBlogs...it's where I first saw it linked but I see now it's a general interest newz junkie comtempo-content blog. I still think it's nicely put across and could stimulate a bit more among the curious free thinkers and other whatnots.

That was a drawing not a picture and yes the drawing sort of looked like that...

Ah, the Big Grey Man. He's a favourite of mine. Up to 20 feet tall, they say. And capable of instilling uncontrollable fear in the toughest of men. There are stories of grizzled mountaineers scattering equipment and fleeing Ben McDhui like frightened children, vowing never to return.

Interestingly the ceaseless winds which whistle down the mountain's crevasses are said to produce sounds ranging from deep monster-like moans and grumbles to angelic singing.

A 'drawing' can be a 'picture' as well, it doesn't have to be a photograph evillaugh.gif Anyway, my point was that it didn't look to me like a serious representation of the creature, it just looks a bit silly
