ProofWith comic books such as “Human Target” and “Fables” heading to the small screen, it’s only a matter of time before television gives movie theaters a run for its money in terms of graphic novel fare. If you need further proof of that claim, look no further than “Proof.”

Comics2Film is reporting that Kickstart Entertainment has optioned Image Comics’ “Proof” as an animated television series. According to the site’s anonymous source, Samuel L. Jackson is attached to the project and could provide the voice of the lead character.

The comic book, created by Alex Grecian and Riley Rossmo, focuses on John “Proof” Prufrock, a government-employed sasquatch that investigates cases of fabled creatures called “cryptids.” These monsters have long been rumored, but their existence remains unproven — which is where Proof comes in.

According to the report, Evan Gore of “Futurama” fame will script the pilot episode of the series. There are also rumblings that artist Riley Rossmo’s style would be emulated for the cartoon series, though the website points out that the show’s production is “in the very early stages and that can change as things develop.”

Jackson’s involvement in “Proof” marks yet another animated project for the well-established actor, who has already lent his vocal talents to the anime series “Afro Samurai.” It goes without saying that “Proof” would be another notch on Jackson’s lengthy comic book resume that includes turns as Nick Fury in the Marvel film universe and as the villainous Octopus in “The Spirit.”
