QUOTE
On the scanner last night I heard 2 separate deputy reports of a 7 to 7½ foot "hairy something" at the edge of the woodline on Libson road. It was about 11:00pm when this supposedly happened.
The one officer that I heard respond said that he heard "some real strange stuff" when he got there, but didn't say anything else over the radio other than the witness he talked to was
totally freaked out and swears this "something" was tall, hairy and standing there looking at him even after he stopped his truck and shined the lights on him/it. He said that this guy was less than 25 feet from
"the thing".

Could this be the Libson Goon, I've always heard about?
a bigfoot that you're ALWAYS LOOKING FOR?
a chuba whateverthehell you call it?

Woo Hoo it's spring time and things are picking up around here!

Interesting!!!
JayleeD
I know a couple of guys in the sheriff's dept that I'm going to call about this. They may think my cheese has completely slid off my cracker, but this also may answer a few questions about that area that they've been wondering about.

I'll keep you updated.

Can't wait to hear the follow up report on this incident. Just think Jay, now is your chance to become a full time Sasquatch investigator!
JayleeD
That's a very good point AS...but the pay really sucks. sad.gif
AlbertaSasquatch
That's true unless you actually hit paydirt.....right! I can just see JayleeD's name up there with the likes of Patterson and Gimlin, although I guess not everyone agrees that they hit paydirt lol.
JayleeD
Yep, with my luck, I'd get a video and you guys would spend 40+ years finding blood spatters, bullet wounds and ponytails on the dang thing! coverlaugh.gif
RB
We'll worry about that later J... just get the shot and leave the rest to us...

We're going to be rich... rich I tell you!

Oh... umm... I mean you are going to be rich... wink.gif

Very interesting, Jaylee. I keep a scanner going all the time, but have never heard any agencies ever mention anything like that!

If this is a joke I am going to be one pissed off SOB. We get enough BS as it is....
JayleeD
Nope, it's not a joke. I've talked to 3 other people besides the one posted that heard the talk over their scanners. I heard there was a man with a tracking dog that was going out this morning, but the storms moved through and he didn't go. I'm still checking things out.

If this is a joke, it was pulled by the deputies at the sheriff's office, and our county sheriff frowns on things like that.

RB, you can be my agent. wink05.gif

Can't wait, J!!! Thanks for sharing (unless the next post is going to say, "April Foooooools.")

edit: LOL Wow, this happens to me a lot. I make a post and the person just before me, makes a post at the same time exactly about what I was posting and gets it on the board just seconds before I do!

I'm glad it isn't a joke, J!!!

Good news, wonder if anybody has tried investigating for tracks and hair yet after the storms?
JayleeD
We went out that way Saturday and looked around, but not knowing the exact location, we didn't find anything. Plus, we had flooding rains the end of last week so I'm sure any evidence would have been washed away. I will share some things that have been said about this. I can't verify if any of this is true, I just thought you'd like to read some responses. Seems that word got around very quickly on this and I'm sorry to say that there have been a LOT of people out there "looking".

QUOTE
I'm going to try to talk my husband into going out there! I love this kinda stuff! I swear that I saw one of these things when I was about 11 years old in Felsenthal. It was real creepy. I watched it walk across a dirt road. That image has never left my head. But, I'm an adrenilyn junkie! Can't wait!

QUOTE
Wonder if there was a report filed? Some friends of mine saw a tall hairy "something" out that way a couple of years ago but everybody thought they were crazy. Also know a guy who saw something described the same way out south of town off Hwy 167. Spooky!

QUOTE
My granddad used to speak of the Libson Goons,
said there had to be more than one, cause of all the sitings back in the old days.

He swore that in the late 40's a young colored girl playing in her yard, was seen by her younger brother being dragged off into the "Thickets" by a tall hairy beast. The surrounding community tried to organize a search party, but certain whites refused to lend help. The girl was never found and that family moved from there to Detroit later that same year.

could be something to the scanner story

QUOTE
I have heard howls out there at night, and they ain't dogs! Scared my whole family half to death!

QUOTE
Man, its been a long time since I've heard of people seeing the Libson Goon, I'll have to set up a game cam along the highway out there.
It might make me a millionare.

My dad always said you could smell them before you ever saw them, i wonder if anyone smelled the goon in question.

QUOTE
The Libson Goons are nothing to be trifled with.
Someone will end up killed. I know for a fact that my Granddad shot 7 times at one in 72 and it did not affect it.

QUOTE
The Lisbon Goon is more like a family of Goons. I ran across one hunting ducks. You could smell it before you knew what it was...it never saw me, but I caught a glimpse in some flooded timber, it was a cold morning, but you couldn't tell it was cold, it just kept walking through the water like it was on a trail or something...kept staring straight ahead as it walked. needless to say, i picked up my decoys and never went back to that spot! glad i didn't take my lab with me that morning!

QUOTE
We drove out that way last night just to look around, My husband parked on the shoulder of Libson Road.
We saw nothing and smelled nothing but when we got into the back of the truck and hit two 2x4's together real hard it echoed off in the woods and I swear just a few moments later We heard something deep in the woods beating two pieces of wood together right back at us. We left very quickly thinking we might be calling them to us.

Should'nt we alert somebody about this???

David says No they have always been out there and we should not bring out of towners in on them.

I don't know, someone could get hurt again or worse. it was very scary and I doubt I'll go out that way again,

QUOTE
These things probably won't come out with a lot of people in the woods. They must have some intelligence to be so elusive. The ones I've heard about around here are seen by one or two people who are just sitting waiting on a deer, being quiet, or else just down in the woods doing nothing. Probably have more luck camping out for a few days and cooking something that smells good that will attract one of them. They seem to hang out in Loutre bottom also and around creek beds. Everyone that sees one of these things is so spooked by it that they take off and don't come back. I've heard that hunting dogs won't fool with them.

QUOTE
Could this be just a really tall colored guy walking to the RIB Cage?? (BBQ restaurant close by)

QUOTE
These Goons or Bigfeets have been there since way back. I think they have learned to live around us , we should try and do the same.

SAVE THE GOONS!

collect the whole set

QUOTE
Let's make a movie...look what it did for Fouke, AR. We could call it the "Legend of Loutre Creek." All kidding aside, I lived in some bottomland in southwest Arkansas when the Fouke monster thing was going on in 1972. It was very scary for awhile.

Here's a couple of more from yesterday.

QUOTE
I have heard these stories off and on my whole life-time. Although I have never seen anything, both of my Parents have and an Uncle has too.

I have however heard very strange calls late at night out there that sound more like those howling monkeys they have at the Little Rock zoo than a person, and log beating is heard too, especially in Spring.

What it is I can't say. but to tell you the truth I'm not aching to find out .

Just lay low until the spring rut is over I guess.

I'm trying to get more info out of the guy who responded with the one below. With all the talk that's going around, some crazies are coming out of the woodwork.

QUOTE
I saw something last night at 1:30pm as I was coming home to **** from ******.
I saw something extremely large cross the road about 70 yards in front of my truck. most importantly it crossed on 2 legs !!

I can't honestly say I was close enough to see if it was or was not a bigfoot, goon or whatever. I suppose it could have been a large bear.

It moved slowly across the road not fast.
when I got to where I thought it had crossed I looked quickly but didn't slow down. (too scary)
I didn't see hide nor hair of the beast. I did make a call to a deputy I know this morning (off duty) and he said he would relay the message to the Sheriffs office.
I'm gonna call him tonight and see what he found out, but I won't be going down Lisbon road anytime soon.
somethings out there.

Update from the guy who claims he saw something on Sunday night.

QUOTE
Spoke with my buddy with the Sheriffs office,
he confirmed that there had been several, (6-7) calls starting in mid March and as recently as last week with people seeing something odd or hearing strange noises and one report of a killed dog.
He asked if I wanted to make a formal report about what I'd seen, I decided it wasn't worth the time after all I really couldn't tell you what I saw, Only it was BIG and moved slow.
He also said there are no tracks, no pictures, no real hard evidence, just a couple of shook up people who saw or heard something, didn't quite know what it was, but felt it needed to be reported.
Most of the folks at the S.O. believe its nothing and at most possibly a bear.

I've been told that there are quite a few "goonie hunters" converging on the area. Somebody will probably get shot. rolleyes2.gif

the goon suits are clearly what Patterson and Gimlan were going for when they made up Patty. (Patty and Pappy ... coinidence me thinks not!)

1938-1968 was the perfect amount of time to concoct the scheme

notice the gait on the Goons just like in the clip on legend meets science.

Hey Scott, sorry I missed your post. Been busy dodging bad weather and angry children with Easter eggs around here.

Lisbon road turns off HWY 82 out at Cairo and goes toward Smackover. This is happening near the area where Mt. Holly road and Lisbon road intersect, which would be closer to Hwy 82 than to Smackover.

I was told last week that a certain organization is coming to town this week to investigate. Nope, not the BFRO. I sent a message to the leader of the group but haven't heard anything back from him.

Good news. Thanks for the update, J.
JayleeD
OK, latest update. This is gettin' serious now!

QUOTE
We spotted a Goon Sunday morning crossing Lisbon Road with a white chicken in its hand.

We shot at it twice, but we found no blood, and it was too rainy and muddy to follow. If there was any blood, I'm afraid the heavy rain may have washed it away with any other evidence. In spite of the rain, we are going back to the spot this afternoon to see if we can find any tracks or signs of a struggle with said chicken.

I can't believe what we actually saw and what actually happened. We'll keep you posted.

Jay,

is this cyclical? I guess what I'm trying to get at is do you get the impression that there is more activity as a result of genuine encounters, or more activity tied to imagination and rumor?

Are there regular 'seasons of the goon?' in terms of reports and activity in your area? Is this the area where you had your encounter?
Teresa
Dang the rain!
