Hi everyone!!
I was reading the classic Ivan T. Sanderson "Abominable Snowmen, the legend comes to life" chapter 17, and he discussed a little bit about the wildman complex mythology in Middle East. In summary, he points out, that there was a biblical character called "seirim"that was some kind of night beast feared by the hebrews. (I won't discuss religion, which is complex, just mythological creatures).
I later found a book with beautiful pictures written by an mexican sociologist called "Roger Bartra". It seems there's a small collection of books about the same topic, it focuses exclusively on greek satyrs, hebrew seirims, european wildmen, the so-called "homo silvestris" and so on...
This link is in spanish, but it seems there are english translations as well (at least, check the pics)
The book is called "The Wildman on the mirror" (El salvaje en el espejo).
