Maybe a better question for the laplanders? What about Finland for that matter? Interesting question.

I was looking at statistics, and in doing so made this assumetion....BF is a creature that finds its comfort in the deep wooded areas, I strongly feel they are nomadic following thier own map, but they wont be found in desert, or wind swept arctic plains. I think we find them in rural places only because of their courious side, they are interested in what they come upon, the lights, noise who knows but you always see they are heading fast for the forest cover.

Yes there are some, but they are usualy mentioned in Russian research. The Almasty is sometimes seen in the border region to (If i remember correctly) Norway. There was at least one thread about scandinavian "BF" activity here.

Is'nt there an old story of forest trolls in Sweden that carried a man away into the forest where he later escaped. This is the same story that parallels and somewhat raises redflags to the Ostman encounter.
From what I remember reading the Scandanavian forest troll legends sound pretty much the same as the sasquatch legends. Large hairy manlike creature which would stay hidden in the deep forests and could be heard calling out across the valleys with long screams.
