About a year ago my neighbor, who is a taxidermist and an accomplished artist, was visiting when I jokingly said "If we could get a Bigfoot, you could stuff it and we could make money exhibiting it." To my great surprise he piped up and said he had already done that and preceded to tell me the story.

In 1968, he contracted with a carnival man he faintly remembers was from California to make a Bigfoot-type creature. At the time, Wayne was a Canadian resident living in British Colombia.

The creature's skeleton was made from wood. The body was formed using paper-mache and was anatomically correct in every detail. He put on four heavy coats of tinted rubber cement. On the last coat, he cemented bear fur - on end - to the creature. He said that operation took a long time. The finger and toenails were made from lead.

When completed, he stated the creature looked real. He mentioned the heavy coats of rubber cement made the feeling of real flesh. He received $750 for his creation.

He remembers that the man stuck the creature in ice and took him around to fairs. Sometime later, the man was contacted by the FBI probably because the creature was so lifelike and anatomically correct. After convincing them it was a fake, he was asked to go on the local radio and expose the hoax.

If anyone has seen this 'creature' or has any information on what might have happened to it, please email Jeff. Please put 'Fake Bigfoot Information' in the email Subject line.

Looks like the real thing to me. Didn't they use it in that Six Million Dollar Man Series?

(Sorry about the extra a in the headline)

Sounds like the Minneasota Iceman!

Thanks BT2...

And I'd have to say no, doesn't look like any of the sketches
or pictures of the MN iceman, nor does it look like the
thing from the six million dollar man (that was Andre the
Giant btw). Baaaaaad mockup...

I recall my dad taking me to a store when I was a kid, the store had lot's of old stuff (surplus) I recall gun stuff too and lot's of animals mounted. The most vivid thing is a large glass case with an alleged sasquatch in it. Even as a kid I could see it was fake, but it scared me anyway.

This store was in either Tacoma Washington or Seattle. Possibly near waterfront.

My dad mentions that this might have been the Taxidermy shop in Seattle called "Jonas Brothers". He is not positive.

It has been a long time, but the animal I saw does not resemble the one in the photo. The one I saw had more hair on the body and legs as I recall.

I agree, it doesn't LOOK like the Minnesota iceman, though the dscription makes it SOUND like the M.I. A look at the photos show two different subjects entirely.

Stuffed bigfoot...

Stuffed bigfoot... blink.gif
That is the worst National Enquirer photo shop job ever. Both subjects in the pic have freakishly large heads. What a hatchet job. dry.gif
It's Al Gore with a stuffed BF.

I hope you all know that I was using sarcasm.

Stories like this one prove, at least to me, that the media will pick up and publish any story about Bigfoot, no matter how ridiculous.

Sounds like the Minneasota Iceman!

Note that I said "sounds like".

At the time I type that in, the link wasn't working and I hadn't seen the picture. Sure doesn't look like the Minneasota Iceman to me.

Never have seen the individual before
BigfootDad
Looks like a big ol' Neanderthal mock-up.

When did the "stills" from the P/G film get released? In Argosy?

You'd think after that, someone would try a recreation based on "Patty".

Thanks for posting the pic and, for comparison, the Minn.Iceman image.
not even close, but, hey, good discussion and wacky "bigfoot" (sic) picture. smile.gif

And looking at the picture again, I'd agree with the paste-up comment.

The guy posing with the Big Ugly Looking Thing is sure a trend-setter for hair style and fashion sense if that is supposed to be 1968.
The Forest Ape
I'd say the Iceman looks more like the real thing, I'd have to agree with BigfootDad about the other one looking like a giant neanderthal...
Quake
I think it looks like one of the older WWF wrestlers.... like Jimmy *Super fly* Snuka? Or one of the *Islanders*, Tatanka, maybe?
