Why do we need to know the reality of the squach? I can understand the people that have had experiences wanting answers, but to the rest of us, is the truth gonna change how your everday life is? Just something to think about......

wickie - I have a $500 bet that I made with a buddy of mine that this will be solved by 2010 with a body, or good enough footage. He saw the tracks I saw, still cannot explain them. But he is a huge skeptic, being a former PI. That's what keeps me in this game, that life changing 500 dollars

Well, Bro, in 2010, $500 might not be worth much. Might want to raise the stakes abit!

We don't Wickie, that's the honest answer & it won't change the vast majority of our everyday Lives either..
We might have a really good few months where we feel good inside, a feeling of " I was one of a tiny % that actually believed & i was right " but that would only be a purley selfish point of view..
We want to know the reality, but we don't actually need to.

The truth is that the majority of the population thinks it is a joke and could care less about the subject. The minority is split into 3 factions, those that witnessed an encounter or evidence, those that are open minded to the possibility, and those that are obsessed with the subject. All three want some kind of closure. To answer the questions, what really was that I saw?, Have they been here all along and the PGF is not a hoax?, and, was I stupid to waste all that time wrapped up in this? BTW, if you are reading this and a member of this forum, you probablly belong in the 3rd group of the minority.

I think alot of it has to do with that "need to know" factor of our human nature

What if it is essential to the BF that it is proven in order to save him? Perhaps low numbers are severely depleting the population or encroachment by civilization is restricting migration routes to food supplies? There is the possiblity that some BF could be exposed to some disease that they have no resistance to (like the Native Americans reaction to smallpox) which could devistate a large number if they do indeed live in groups or interact in some way? If, as reported they are being spotted closer to our towns and cities, sometimes checking out our garbage for leftovers, then I would guess it to be quite possible for the BF to pickup some sort of virus or bacteria from human, human refuse, and /or our domesticated livestock and pets.
If I was a true believer or had witnessed one in the flesh and blood, number one It would be nice to prove it's existence so people wouldn't give me that funny look when I mentioned my BF run in, and secondly I would be concerned that due to all the unknown factors that the creature itself maybe extinct before we ever find it? I realize that many people here believe that the numbers are stable due to all the supposed reports in the last ten years or so, but what if we were actually seeing more animals because they were having to travel further and/or take more risks of running into civilization due to the hunt for food or a mate. Perhaps there is so few animals left that the BF are forced to drastically change their routines and habits that have kept them mostly hidden and relatively undocumented the last 200 or so years? Just a different perspective.

Never saw a sasquatch. But had two close interesting encounters with something that didn't want me to see'em, but wanted me to know they were there. I don't want to be the one who solves this mystery...or myth. I don't care. Whether or not one believes they exist, shouldn't color the way we deal with people who have the opposing viewpoint. Dismissiveness is not an admirable quality and says more about the person's character, than it does about their beliefs. It will give me great satisfaction if I finally read the story that proves the existence. As the years go by, I suppose I will eventually drift towards the side of the fire that anticipates never reading that story.

If the day ever comes Ace, I'll let you know. My niece (also the MMF videographers niece) used to live and work in Paris and she has a really nice salary so I bet she'd know.

Selfishly, part of me would like to know that the time spent discussing this topic, the reading of countless claims and encounters, the limited amount time spent out in the field has not been in vain...
On a larger scale, for those folks in the population who have had an encounter, ( bonified," I saw a Sasquatch" encounter or maybe a "not so sure encounter"), I would want closure for them, one way or another.
I don't really care about the ability of being able to go up to the many skeptics I know ( wife included) and say " I told you so", but I would guess for some that is important too.... on second thought... take the wife out of that one... she WOULD BE the one person I would say, I told you so!!!

Wick...I would think when it is definitively known by all(the world)...That it would have a great affect on us all!...And make many search deep within...After all ..human like beings living in harmony with the earth....No 400 count sheets...no comforts...just them and the earth..And nature...Perhaps a turning point for all mankind?...For the better!..A very positive affect!...Peace

It just might… especially if large areas of wilderness, or areas that are not so wild, are set aside for their habitat… and all the ramifications that follow… but I’ll let others pontificate about that…
And once bigfoot has been proven to exist to the rest of the world, (those which require proof), how would that effect those who rely upon the wilds for their recreation… and to hunters… and to the fisherpersons… and to those that depend upon the wilds for their livelihood?
How would it affect those wanting to build new homes that encroach upon the wilds?
What might it mean to science… and to medicine? Would Sasquatch provide answers to many diseases which now plague us?
Might Sasquatch behavior provide answers to how we humans evolved, and how we might better adapt to our environment?
Would you ever go into the mountains again? Would you bring your children?
Would Sasquatch give us the answers to many other questions as well… perhaps questions we haven’t even thought of yet?
Or… we could just keep our heads down… or in the sand… and just continue to plow forward unfettered… not knowing and not wanting to know… Sasquatch be damned… who needs sentient animals anyway?

I see a whole segment of the population that DO go into the woods now that would NEVER go in again. They would be utterly overcome with fear and never enter the forest again.
I can also see a whole segment of the population that do NOT go in the woods now but WOULD go into the woods with reckless abandon. The poachers would swarm the forests to bring home a prized addition to their trophy-collecting clients.

Yep, what RB said. All kinds of implications.
Personally, I think that's why Uncle Sam just say's "who knows? That IS weird isn't it?" And leaves it up to us amateurs. If they were to ever acknowledge sasquatch, then they'd be responsible for them and their actions.
Like RB said, people would demand "I go camping every week with my kids, what are you going to DO about it?" The answer is, of course, nothing. They really can't (considering the beast in question)! Lucky for them, sasquatch is basically peaceful, or so it seems. If their existence is validated, it would make things tricky when little Timmy goes missing in the forest, as they'd have to put sasquatch on the list.
So not a lot of money to be made, but maybe a lot that would have to be spent. Not a good conundrum for government or business!
I'm sure those DNA type folks would be clamoring over each other for the money the first DNA sequencing would be worth once the "winner" patents it! Pharmaceuticals too? But I think the only other money involved with sasquatch is beef jerky and MonsterQuest broadcast advertising.

It would be a mess awhile!..So many ramifications!...I can see many going to great measures to protect them!...As well as the big gamers wanting some action(trophy)...Public outcry for protection!....Y'all...does not look good for the barefooted ones however you look at it...We as humans would De-Harmonize the balance of the Satch...For our selfish gain...I wish we can just leave them be...As the NA did before us...sadly...I do not see that happening.
