Tired of red recreations 'make her black' what say all of you?
Crow Logic
There's an interview from 20 years ago where Bob Gimlin describes her as dark brown. And dark brown she could have very well been. Since we don't know the true color of the actual camera master film its hard to say for certain. However in the other footage browns seem to be showing up well. I am in the camp that thinks she was black and that's how I'd recreate her.

You and I seem to be alone in that, Crow Logic.

She would look very nice black, gbone!

Black is beautiful and accurate, in this case.

The recreations I've seen so far are not good when it comes to hair color. Having said that, if I may use my girlfriends hair color for comparison...

Her hair color changes with the seasons. In the summer, as she lays out by the pool and her hair is exposed to more sunlight, it turns light blonde. In the fall, it turns brown with a reddish tint. In the winter, it is dark brown - almost black. Spring brings dirty blonde and then the cycle repeats.

My point is that hair doesn't always stay the same color, so saying that "Patty" has black hair is probably not accurate. Hair seems to change color based on how much sunlight it receives.

The artwork is great but this rendition always makes me think that Patty is posing for her high school yearbook and was in front of the mirror all day with a comb and hair clippers.

Crow- from Bigfoot encounters, the 1992 John Green / Gimlin interview, he clearly changes his color description to "Wasn't very dark brown", and says "It was a lighter color brown"

QUOTE
Green: What color did it appear to be to you?

QUOTE
Gimlin: It was a dark brown, brownish color…

QUOTE
Green: …then it wasn’t as dark as it looks in the film?

QUOTE
Gimlin: No, it wasn’t as dark as it looks in the film. It was a long ways from being tan, but it wasn’t a very dark brown like it shows in the film. It was a lighter color brown. Of Course it was lighter in different areas of it’s body too, I suppose where the hair was shorter it was lighter or vice versa, it might have been darker where the hair was shorter
