The Forest Ape
I only recently read about the Marble Mountains Footage and it's respective sighting at the BFRO, and I was interested because I've never read about it before. For the uninformed, I'm talking about a summer 2000 sighting where an alleged Sasquatch was videotaped from a distance in excess of three minutes. A little pine hut was also discovered and the Sasquatch is supposedly "distressed" when he discovers that his home is being inspected. The footage is still being reviewed by the BFRO and as such has not been released to the public. Although the footage isn't available, what is the general concensus on this report? Does it sound bogus? Improbable? Throw your opinions out there. I'm eager to hear what you've got to say! happy.gif

Forest Ape,

Can you give us more info on the Marble Mountains Footage report, I didn't see it listed at the BFRO but that maybe just me, what state did this happen in, do you have the report number they list at the top of each report they post. Any help would be appreciated so we can look it up. smile.gif smile.gif

Like others who were at the symposium in willow creek in september, I am fortunate enough to have seen the footage.

I have to say that it is inconclusive, but very interesting !

The footage looked human to me, but we discussed it afterward with Alton Higgins(BFRO), who said that the follow up investigation revealed that the measurement of the creature was around 8ft tall, which puts a completely different spin on things.

I don't think the quality of the footage will allow the BFRO to make anything else out of it, but what puts this footage way and above any other footage that we have seen in recent years is the reluctance of the family who shot the film to have it shown to the public - they are serious about their privacy.

I'm sure if this was a hoax like the snow walker, then the film would have been anonymous, or the camera person would have come forward for the publicity.

I think the BFRO should be commended for respecting the familiy's request for privacy.

Yeah, what Paul said...

That is the first I've read about it.

I think it is kind of *erie*, to say the least. I think the fact that there was a *hut* is makes you wonder how *humanlike* this thing is.... If it is an authentic sighting...

If it were a hoax, the people building the hut would have known to have broken the limbs off, and not cut them, as they know that would be too telling.

The *firepit* is odd, though. When they went back, a year later, there appeared to be wood that had been burnt in it. That is kind of suspicious.....Maybe it was a human's *hut*.......that this animal had taken over?

If the thing walking down the hill was estimated to be approximately 8 foot tall, as the other person said he heard, that is rather telling of its authenticity.... I hope the BFRO updates what they have come to with it.... This is too promising to let go, unless they have not come to a good conclusion???

yeah, i've read that one before. i was mostly moved by the idea that it was 'distressed' and put it's hands on it's head in anguish. did you look at the stills? too hard to make anything out. still, 18 witnesses.....

i'd forgotten it was in siskiyou county. thats where i'm planning to move next year

Isn't this the footage with the upset BF pacing because someone found its hut?? I think I saw this footage somewhere. Didn't I?? blink.gif Was it posted and then taken down? Maybe I am just remembering a visual image I had when reading the report. My memory is poo sometimes. dry.gif

Leeloo - indeed it is the same. They even say that the Squatch puts it's hands on his head as if "terribly anguished"... laugh.gif

Sorry for the lack of info before. I meant to post some links.

It was in Siskiyou county, California.

Here's the BFRO report:

and here's some stills from the video footage...

You're right Leeloo, the footage was available for viewing somewhere online, as I did view it once, but try as I might I haven't been able to find it again today.

It's too bad, because it was a very compelling piece of footage, not for the detail of the creature, which was negligable due to the distance from the viewer and the fact that it could really only be seen in sillohette, but for the startling body language exhibited that was just so clear and unmistakeable - it was very upset and agitated.

I remember when it put its hands to its head in what appeared to be anquish at having a bunch of humans disturbing its shelter, I was shocked at the gesture - such a humanlike display of emotion from a figure whose physical proportions were decididely non-human (long arms, no neck, pointed head).

The video gave me chills when I saw it - I sure wish I could find it again - I wonder why the BFRO just dropped the ball on this one? It's not mentioned at all on their media page: http://www.bfro.net/REF/bfmedia.asp

Did the BFRO ever have the footage online? I only remember the stills...

Just the stills.
RavenBC
Yeah, it wasn't at the BFRO that I saw the video - I've been Google'ing all over the internet and going through all my bookmarks and files, but I haven't been able to find it again...

I wonder if, when he was charging down that hill, watching his *apartment* being ransacked, if he was shouting in bigfoot language *Get the **** outta my house! I just built that sucker*

Thanks Howlingmad - I like yours too! smile.gif

I'm a HUGE Bateman fan, I'd seen the the painting below
but never the Yeti. Not his characteristic look, interesting...

RavenBC
And that one is gorgeous! - I haven't see that one.

I love the way Bateman sets a scene with his paintings - he spends as much time portraying the environment of his subjects as the animals themselves - that Bigfoot painting is gorgeous, with the big guy slightly obscured by trees and mist and exiting stage left, just like so many sighting reports. Cool.

Thanks for sharing that Howlingmad! icon_mrgreen.gif
