CNN is running a poll on their homepage asking if site visitors believe in bigfoot (or creatures like bigfoot). Images attached.
What I find interesting is how many people have answered. I can't recall a national poll with this question being taken in the past. I know the CNN audience is hardly representational of the population as a whole, but the fact that 41% of those polled believe bigfoot exists (not that it
could exist, the question asked "do you believe") is, I think, encouraging. My friends, we are not alone.
If you run over
there right now, you might be able to answer for yourself.

I saw this poll (of course it's a voluntary poll, and therefore inaccurate), and although many people I'm sure were swayed by the headlines, and didn't want to look the fool, it still says something about the subject. There's something in a lot of people that makes them believe things that have no verifiable proof readily at hand. Whether the subject be supernatural, or natural but unsubstantiated, what is it about mankind that accepts these subject matters so easily?
The Bluff Creek film has stayed as a lasting image in the cultural mix, just as the grassy knoll shooter, and Roswell have. People spend years on the subjects, gathering information, reviewing data, and challenging the conceptions of the norm. Sometimes futilely, yet sometimes successfully, people strive for something that is encapsulated within the events they seek to verify. A new truth, some tiny bit of knowledge that was previously undiscovered by mankind.
We seem to be hardwired for this. Children and teens absorb the goings on about them, learning the ways of the world without even trying to. They adopt the routines shown successful (or, in some cases, not so much so), enabling them to handle the situations familiar to their peers, siblings, and community. But I think there's another layer, something deeper that is behind even that.
We seek a more ultimate truth, one that encompasses everything in our realm. The scientific world battles quasars, quarks, and bosons, while historians and anthropologists piece together the events of by gone eras, and the current landscape of politics and culture. Mankind seems fascinated with piecing it all together, one tiny truth at a time. I think that's what may be behind the acceptance of the subject by so many that haven't had an experience, or even necessarily thought about the subject at length--there may just be something to it, and if there is, they want to adopt the tiny truth in to the fabric of the ultimate ends.

The poll numbers are down a bit. Last time I looked last week it was running 43-57%. Wonder if lack of evidence from the press conference had anything to do with it?

Here's the latest from CNN
http://scitech.blogs.cnn.com/ Justifying why they have to inform readers on bigfoot developments even though CNN's stance is it's an obvious crock. Thankfully and lucky for all of us one day, as because people are interested and care so they (CNN) have no choice.
But that's the reflection people on all of us- when dirty lying scumbags try to prostitute an already vulnerable field (in the public's eyes) and then the outcome is more predictable then when the NFL's best team plays it's worst. We may all have disdain for Biscardi and have thought this was a scam from the beginning but as far as the majority of the ignorant public and media is concerned, the minute we say research bigfoot, people suspect you live in Biscardi's bedroom (because he was presented as the "man" or "bigfoot hunter") and it's your burden to explain yourself out.

You are right. Unfortunately, we all get tarred with the same brush as crackpots like Biscardi when they pull these stunts... Well said...

It seems that the general public puts more stock into the latest hoax as being proof as to whether they exist than 100 sightings could ever do. It saddens me to say the least -what an uphill battle. My only hope is that people have open minds but the sad truth is that most minds are shut regarding this subject, and hoaxes only add rocket fuel to the fire. I just want people to keep their eyes open when out in the bush camping, hiking or what not as I think that if people were more open to the possibility that they exist they would be sighted more often.
The media pretty much controls what people know regarding the subject of BF and their focus has always been on convincing the public that you must be crazy or stupid to believe.
