"marymahas" joined this forum yesterday evening, probably shortly after this "tomagami islands" thing was exposed.

Her "speech" patterns are identical those of tomagami.

And like tomagami, she is telling a tale that nobody else here has heard about, and about which no information can be found elsewhere.

I've been thinking the same. She joined a half hour after Leemajors posted the mask.

Never mind it ended this way, par for the course a lot of time on this Subject & i'm sure it will happen again..It's just that feeling of " this could be it " that we crave, a lot if the time in hope more than actual judgement i suppose, especially in the current climate & hot on the tail of Friday's debaucle..

I thought myself initially that the story was BS ( The " Going back in the Fall " part rang bells with me amongst other things ) but hoped it wasn't & done some hours yesterday in researhing a little on the area & if it had a history of Sightings & you know what, i don't regret it because it turned out to be a hoax, i enjoy it & learn, even if only a little, about places i'd probably never even hear of again in my life..

I still keep the faith too, one day, one of these are gonna be the real deal..wink.gif

Keep the faith Oregonboom, I am sure one day we will locate the evidence everyone is seeking.

On another note, it was great working with you as you are like myself in ways, you look beyond the usual commentary and dig into the statistical (sightings, geography, etc.) to get to the bottom of a story. thumbup.gif

Hope we can debunk again in the future.

Stick a fork in me I am done! It's funny after seeing the rug in the freezer then being hit with some very good clear pictures of what looked like a very large creature I got tunnel vision and was dismissing hoax before anything else. And when I saw the close up of the face it hit me as fake. When Leemajors put up that mask that sealed the deal. Think about how long he could have kept us going if he never put up that face shot. It sounds like a good story though and a good movie that I would watch as long as BF dose not have IR vision and speaks english. If the authorities took all the film I think that may be part of a criminal investigation, the U.S. helecopters I dont buy. It was fun though more fun than a cell phone blobsquatch.

Well, the ride yesterday was too much fun, and I agree that everyone here really handled themselves very well, believers and non-believers alike. It actually made me like this community a LOT better than I had perceived it before. If it is any help to those of you who are feeling dejected or worried that the Bigfoot community is being dragged through the mud, the whole experience from the semi-frozen horse/bigfoot/possum hybrid to the hot old guy in the snow...was quite positive and educational. It appears to me, a virtual outsider, that there are a number of highly intelligent folks around here, and a lot of you have some great senses of humor! Two positives in my book!

Now, this movie looks awful, imho. So I won't be holding my breath to see it. Bigfoot isn't the only creature in this forest, there is a whole clip of some sort of sticky, wet, big nosed muppet ranting in flowery prose. Not my style...and certainly not based on any truth! Yuck! If Ben was real, his story would be somewhere on the net, it is a very small world now days. So much for marketing.....I think that if it was brought here as a clip from a movie, and not a scam, I would personally be a lot more open minded.

So don't feel bad, you guys. It is human nature to grasp for something positive when disappointment is all around. Snowy Guy looked pretty darn good for a while, and I don't think that I (nobody) have to remind you that a million scams don't prove that something does not exist.

When you rejoin under a different username, and try to pass yourself off as someone else, at least alter your paragraphs and sentence placement, a bit.

Hey marymayhas/vicky/togami/jim or whatever your real name is. you do know this site tracks ip's right? so besides the obvious fact that you are the same person simply by how "vicky" showed up as soon as togami stopped posting, the mods here can easily look at your ip address, if you are dumb enough to use the same computer at the same location, which judging from the fact you used a store bought costume to try to pull this hoax off i will guess you are lol. anyway dude, it was a pretty good ruse while it lasted. just a tip though next time if you try something similar don't make your story so elaborate, because besides the fact the costume was easily busted, your overly elaborate story and style of writing gave you away as well. it's the same with obvious ufo hoaxers, the ones who really elaborate and go into tons of detail always wind up under more scrutiny because they say too much and eventually say something that can be verified or busted.

That reminds me, did any of you mods actually look at the ip's of said posters? if so did you run them through any whois type sites to see if they are even from the ontario region at all, or was that part a lie too? i ask because i have relative in North Bay, so maybe one day when i visit them i'll spot this "Jim/Vicky/Togami/Sasquatch" guy on the street, i want his autograph! LOL!

Forgive my first-time poster status. I'm a longtime lurker.

First, a fess-up: I thought those face pictures were pretty intriguing. Oh well.

Second: Since the obvious debunking, and some of the other posters' mentions of guerilla marketing, it struck me how similar this looks to the "Blair Witch" model.
First footage was leaked that was supposedly part of real-life events. Then there was the revelation that the footage was not real, but part of a documentary being made about something that was supposedly real. Then it became ... just a hit movie.

Anyway, I did a search on "Ben Matine," both in google and Nexis. No hits that match the story proffered here.

Take it for what it's worth.

Personally I liked this mask more than the horrordome mask. The thing that I didn't like about this mask was the lips...too human, BF no need Angelina Jolie lips make BF look like sissy, LOL!

WOW thanks for posting this... anybody else notice that it went up YESTERDAY probably just after the forum found the mask.....? KUDOS though, the production appears to be first rate, not the usual rubber mask and furry suit approach of most handlings.... and I think the production co is GERMAN. The copyright and music are very similar to the Helmedia home page.

Thanks for this, that's what I meant when I asked "Was it a hoax or was it what happened to Ben Matine" Looks like it's based on true events.

What I don't know is who Tomagami is and how he figures into all of this. Is he a friend of Ben Matine or is he someone hired to promote the film?

This is my best guess, a viral marketing specialist...... after the GA thing, they saw an opportunity, a big one to get some free press with all the people out there googling " bigfoot" Brilliant, actually, but I suspect they thought they would get a longer run than they did, all of about 24 hours. evillaugh.gif

I agree, Teresa don't sweat it. I find it annoying having to check 2 IP's at a time let alone the hundreds you guys are dealing with.

Well now that it's obvious that it was a hoax and a guy in a ghillie suit and a mask, just wanted to say told you so to those who poked fun at my first post here when i said that's exactly what it was an how obvious it was the second i saw the pics. I can't believe people who are regulars on these type of forums and consider themselves well read and some even "experts" on the whole bigfoot issue fell for this. The "i wanna believe so bad that even simple hoaxes will blind me from the obvious" factor was extremely high on this one.

Anyway, i am a bit sad because i would love for there to be a real bigfoot and for solid proof to be found some day, but still, just gotta revel in the moment one last time, so.....

It's not a gillie suit, and never was a gillie suit. Doesn't that make you all the sillier?

Your insults are pretty funny considering you contributed absolutely zero to actually examining the photos, or offering an iota of a plausible solutions. You just pooh-poohed it, and then waited until people contributed effort to actually debunking it.

Lee Majors, thank you for busting this hoax.

As for the hoaxer and his/her/its multiple accounts, ranting.gif Ugh..

What I don't get is why people want to see this movie? I don't know about anyone else, but when someone abuses my trust and flat out lies, and then keeps trying to lie, I write 'em off for what they are; scum. I also take a personal onus when it comes to enriching scum with my $$$, so no way in hell will I see this movie. I'll also do what I can to discourage others from doing so.

I don't think the movie exists or will exist.

ETA: the boring (if visually intriguing) trailer, and weird clip from the film, both were posted on youtube late yesterday, and were posted by a new member of youtube. The film studio named at the end of the trailer does not exist. More work of Tomagami/Mary.

Maybe I will watch this film, why not. They shurly didn´t harm BF research with this marketing lie and bad costume.

What do you mean i didn't offer anything? i was the first to mention Ghillie suit (which the thing in the original pics IS) and then right after that others picked up on that and started posting Gillie pics, then the mask later. I didn't need to waste any time analyzing what was an obvious man in a costume to me and i thought anyone else with any common sense. That was the whole point of my post, it was so *obviously* a guy in a suit that those doing all the analysis were wasting their time. I didn't need photos to know that it was. And i wasn't insulting anyone by the way, simply having a little fun at those who believe so easily.

Maybe it's a trailer for a portfolio, rather than an actual movie? Or maybe a story idea that they are seeking funding for?

Still, you're right--no website, no progress for the movie hopefuls.

See, its posts like this that turn me off of forums. Just because people had hope in some very good looking pics (with the majority of them admitting the possibility of a hoax) someone comes along and insults their opinions and even educational backgrounds. I, for one did let the "experts" analyze the evidence and even though they wanted it to be real they proved that it was a hoax. Anyone can claim its a suit and stick to that, but until that person actually does some analyzing I don't consider them more intelligent or observant than anyone else. Fortunately most people in this forum have more refinement than that.

The Movie Network (TMN) is a Canadian English language premium television service. TMN is designated to operate east of the Ontario-Manitoba border, excluding the territories. The Movie Network is owned by Astral Media.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Movie_Network
which is owned by Astral Media a huge media conglomerate in Canada.

It looks like it's going to be a "Made for Cable Movie", like HBO is famous for doing, not to be released to movie theaters or commercial television anytime soon. So there's no sense in viral marketing it, because unless you live in Eastern Canada you can't see it anyway.... at least not yet.

Did anyone besides me notice in that youtube video that posted, advertising the movie, that the background scenery was a "split screen". It looked like a full wooded background, but in fact, only half the screen was woods, the other half was the mirror image of it. I can't explain it, but if you look at the trees and such on the left side of the screen, then look at the right side of the screen, and they're the same trees..just in reverse. Weird, huh?
