Full Version: Just a blobsquatch, but I don't have the tech

I posted this in another thread (old one, apparently. About blobsquatches, because that is what this is.) But I am really just curious if someone has better capabilities to bring this more into focus than I do. Image enhancement is what I am after, if that is possible, if you are willing. I can see the shape pretty clearly, but I just really wish more resolution were possible. I've been truckin around these sites for a while now, and this is not anything more than a desire for some clarification. I took the picture in the afternoon about a mile away from where I camped. I'm not saying I saw anything that night, just some weird late late night bird calls when camping, a spooked, spooky deer that afternoon. I had a sincere desire to turn around and head back to camp when gathering wood towards dusk. I guess I'm asking for some tech help.

I wish I could just post the link, but I'm apparently not paying enough attention for that. The area of interest is just to the left of the large dark tree across the way behind to the left of the dead tall tree. Anyone who can tell me how tall those bushes in the front are supposed to grow gets a prize.

The most extreme enhancement I can manage with my comp. Help please.

I didn't use the zoom and I'm kicking myself now. It was just a throwaway shot from the top of the falls.

Edit to say this is at Toketee Falls. In the Umpqua National Forest. Middle of no friggin where, Oregon.

Hi

That is a beautiful area , The target is way too far out to get a good fix, Did the subject move away after you took the pic ?

Peace
Tim

I never even knew anything was there. I didn't feel anything weird at all when I took the pic. I was just taking a shot of the pretty area across the little valley as we began our hike down to the bottom of the falls. I guess this qualifies as an "accidental".
Trust me, I woulda zoomed the heck out of that camera if I saw movement.

Hi

Have you been back to that spot to see if it looks the same,

Peace

Not yet, but I am planning a trip in early September to see if it is just a tree stump. (I had to pull legs to get the time off.) I want to know.

Here's what I came up with--Looks like part of the head may actually be foliage. Judge for yourself:

The hand bothered me, the lack of definition. I was thinking it was too far away and the definition got lost. But I just can't get past the overall shape. It was at least a quarter mile away.

Thank you for the enhance, it does look like a shiny head and blobs. Is that bright spot on top what you were saying may be foliage?

No, under the brighter, light green area there is a darker green area, which I interpret as the head area. I have to qualify the image in this way: the image you see is put under quite a number of enhancements, therefore there is bleeding that occurs from pixel to pixel, and the actual area in question could look very different. I took a litter bit of time with it to make sure that it was what I thought was correct at each step, and the dark green area at the head didn't appear until the final adjustment in exposure levels.

It could very well be that the actual object is brown in the area that looks dark green (in the 'head' area), and the camera or my processing made the foliage's color bleed into that area, a misinterpretation of the actual image.

Neat picture though, I have to say that.

Well I am a last minute planner and it bites me in the rear hind end once again. I was planning on visiting lost lake (and that plan is still on!) and camping several days. Along the way I was going to take more pictures from the top of the falls at Toketee. Doing a little internet search I just discovered (yes, I know the info was out there since spring, I didn't look.....I just assumed rolleyes2.gif ) that the Toketee falls trail is closed because of winter storms.

I am still going to go, as the picture in question was from the top of the falls but it was a ways in so I may or may not get there depending on the health of the trail. (And the use of my wiley neeenja like skills to outwit forest service workers.... ph34r.gif ) From reading the damage it may be years before the falls re-open. And that just about perfectly describes my luck in these matters......

Edit to say "God that sounds lame" ya, lame. Sorry. Nobody is more bummed than me. And that's a fact.

This is what my software came up with. Funny. If that is a large Gorilla like set of lips and nostrils with a young one to it's right, I am going to need a bigger gun.

Ya. I saw the face in the tree before I saw anything else. A couple people I showed the pic to were creeped out by that and commented on it. For the record I do not know what is up with that tree! I really really hope I can get pics from the same angle, and yes, I do hope they show nothing but other trees!

Wish me luck. And if anyone already has a pic of this location I would love love love to see it. I doubt that will happen though, cause the "real action" is about a quarter mile down the trail at the bottom of the falls.

The answer is in the scale. Given the distance and size of the tree, that would be one huge critter. Would be a heck of a hike and climb to get to the point of interest, but I think if you did you would find that what looks like a face would have to be many feet from chin to top of the head.

Don't worry its Mighty Joe Young. He's cool. new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Just to tidy up some. I tried to access the site again but was unable to because of wildfire.
