Apologies if this does not deserve it's own thread but I love to read stories liek this regardless of their veracity. I must've read that damn "Cowman" story a hundred times at least. Anyway, this was a report made by a poster over at AboveTopSecret.com:

I'd like to see what Longtabber has to say if he reads through a few of those pages.
I think he could find holes in this guys story, if any exist.
I also believe this supposed incident took place in his neck of the woods, so he may be familiar with the military base in question and it procedures.

I can tell you with 100% certainty the story is bogus.

I've spent a lot of time at the MCAS and know a lot of the officers and Sr NCO's there.

I thought it was quite humorous when he was describing his bumbling marine buddy in the woods and it turned out to be the beast. Sounds like a movie script to me, and a funny one at that! icon_really_happy_guy.gif

"he NCOIC was handing out magazines and m-16s. I breathed a sigh of relief. I went to get my weapon and asked what it was we were after again, I needed details".

No Marine would be handed an M-16 with ammo by anyone other than an armor...every Marine is issued one when you check into your duty station.
When you need your weapon you would get it from the armory and take it with you. Depending on the post and duty you will also be issued ammo at that time. (sometimes ammo is issued within a unit during training) It is yours and you are responsible for it. Try and show up to fire watch or any other post without it and see what happens, you could end up in big trouble. For Marines it's called the "Red Line Brig" and you don't want to be there.

"He just ignored me, I couldnt believe it, given the circumstances I at least deserved a reply. I asked again, pretending that I thought he didnt hear me. He looked at me and said get with fire team two over there"

Any "problems" or "breach" of a base would be handled by the MP's or the guards. Every Marine is required to spend a couple of months TAD (temporally assigned duty) yearly on your camp/base guard or mess. The MP's would respond first and if additional force is required the guard unit will be deployed and it will be in a more "military" fashion then the "I drove somewhere and other people where there also".

I have to say it's not true. Yes it has been awhile since my active duty but I can tell you things don't change much in the military, especially the Marines.

Poop...pure and simple. Entertaining maybe...but poop just the same.

I love all the top secret military talk, there are very few high level security items involving the Marines. If a humanoid type being were to appear on a Marine base it would be no secret. Some of his lingo and how certain things happened just dont jive with the way things are run on a MCAS. If there was a breach of the base the MP's would be the only ones with live ammo no fire teams no groups of Marines running around with "M-16's" firing at an unknown. I hope we have these super armored baboons soon as things are getting heated with Iran.

Geez, Even I could make up a better story than that one. I hope all the members on there (A.T.S.) are just being sarcastic when they are telling him how good of a story writer he is.
