Report from IBS - anyone else ever heard of a SAS having a pet cougar or bear? Raising it out of the good of BF's heart or waiting for it to grow and eat? I wouldn't mind being a pet of SAS, as long as he/she didn't eat me or ??? Yikes!

Hi

There is a thread or two around here on the BF pet subject, I would not mind BF taking me along if i was lost in the woods, Heck being lost is bad enough without the worry of a predatory animal getting to munch on you , Just think if you had BF as a friend to help get ya out for a while, Certainly there might be an issue with keeping up to him, Some of the food he might offer would make me toss, But i guess things could be worked out thumbup.gif

Peace

RRS - I have to say, thanks for not jumping all over me, almost everything has been talked about here at some point in time!! Can you imagine though, a BF/SAS skipping along with a young, abandoned human child? Kind of like the child raised by the monkeys or wolves or bears, just the opposite! The SAS showing the human, "Hey Lil fella, watch how I hunt elk/deer, now you try!" The young human makes a feeble attempt at throwing rocks at the deer, stalking from high in a tree and rolls an ankle, or the human trys to rip the neck back, only to be thrown forward by the animal. The whole time the SAS laughs crazily every time the human falls short at what is so easy for SAS. What a jokester, that sasquatch!!

Yeh, you bet - SAS has a pet bear - anythings possible right?

Odd story.

There have been accounts of animals keeping pets, like an elephant in a zoo, on it's own initiative, keeping a mouse and feeding it, and Koko the gorilla keeping a kitten given to it by Koko's researcher (I seem to recall Koko asking for one).

But those were artificial, not natural, circumstances.

Not entirely implausible, but if true, and interpreted correctly as a "pet-owner" relationship, it appears to be an extremely rare thing for a Sasq to do.

Come on now. Everyone knows the human would get super strong and stuff.

You must not have seen the "historical documents".

Maybe they are hunting partners. A pet cougar would be a little faster on the deer.

I’m aware of some cases where a female animal that has lost her young will sometimes form a bond with another species of animal. There was a documentary a few years ago, on Animal Planet, where a lioness bonded with a baby antelope after losing her cub. I’ve seen dogs steal kittens after losing a puppy. I saw on TV where a mother dog nursed a lion or tiger cub after it was abandoned by it’s mom.

The mothering instinct is strong in nature and sometimes a strange bond is formed through this instinct.

Personally I don’t think a BF would have pets. Just a personal opinion.

I would take this with a grain of salt...I have always heard they are in direct conflict with each other for food and territory, but I have heard of them taking kittens (pet, snack I dont know)

From BFRO FAQ:

"Secondly, they have a tendency to leave "gifts" in the same location in which food was deposited for them. These can range from little piles of stones, a dog skull, handfuls of evergreen shoots, to small live animals, like a goat kid, several live kittens, a turtle, all taken from elsewhere, either as a "gift" or possibly as shared "food"."

But a bear...Dont think so

Is this what Tugboatwa is referring to when he says "crappy Bigfoot gift"? coverlaugh.gif

Hey ever seen a grown man chase a chicken, funny as heck....Now imagine a BF say after a rabbit, juicey lil bunny, that is fast as heck and agile...catch it and its skull may mean something to its hunting ability...So a trophy rabbit skull would be a honored gift...

Now thats thinking outa the box folks... scratchhead.gif
