This story did not really happen. At least I think it didn't!! It is set in the Siskiyou Mountains of Southern Oregon, a known Bigfoot hotspot with dozens of sightings and encounters over the years.

It happened up in the Applegate one dark Summer night. A young man and a young lady went for a drive to enjoy the evening. They had parked and were busy doing that which young lovers do on deserted Forest Service Roads on Summer Evenings.

Their first clue that something was wrong was when the Crickets stopped chirping. "Shush" said the girl to the boy. "I don't hear anything" he replied. "Exactly!" she said. They listened into the darkness to see if they could hear anything. They could not.

A breeze began to blow just then. On that breeze came a dreadful odor. The smell of a wet dog, farmyard, and B.O. rolled into one. Neither had smelled anything so horrible in their young lives. As they inhaled the sickening smell, a crash came from up on the hill above them followed by the sound of deep ominous growl. The hair on the back of the necks stood and a cold chill shot down their spines.

"Let's go, let's go!!!" the girl screamed in terror. They scrambled to the front seat and as they did the young man chanced a look up the hill. His eyes widened as he caught sight of a large upright figure looking down on them. He frantically fumbled with the keys trying to put them in the ignition, all the while looking up the hill at the menacing figure. He finally found the ignition and slipped the keys in. He gunned the engine and headed off down the Road driving with reckless abandon.

They had gone about a half a mile when he failed to navigate a sharp turn and the Car veered into the ditch. They both went out to look the situation over and see if they could get the Car out on their own. They tried everything they could think of but nothing worked. They had stopped for a rest from their efforts when the scream blasted through the woods. It sounded like nothing they had ever heard! The tone of it was powerful, and it had the effect of making their blood run cold. The scream was followed by another, then they heard the faint sound of brush breaking and realized that whatever was making the sound was coming their way!

Terror gripped their hearts. What were they to do?

Just at the moment the boy heard the sound of a Car coming up the Road towards them. They took off running down the road towards the Car. As they ran they could hear the sound of more Brush breaking behind, and above them, and knew that whatever it was, was pursuing them. They ran fast as the wind as their fear propelled them.

Soon the lights of a Car illuminated them. The Car came to a stop and a Man and Woman got out. They could see the state of our two young lovers and knew something was desperately wrong. The young couple pleaded to be taken back to town. The Man and the Woman agreed and took them back to Medford. On the way the boy and the girl told their story. The Man and Woman listened politely. When finished, the Man told the boy that it was probably somebody out there playing a prank on them. They were looking to give them a good scare.

The Boy and the Girl allowed themselves to believe that is what must have happened. But the boy knew deep in his heart that the figure he had seen was no man. It was much larger, and much too tall. Taller than any man he had ever seen.

The boy returned to his home and told his Father only that the Car had become stuck. The Father told him they would go and get it out of the ditch the next day. The boy spent a restless night. He kept tossing and turning. As soon as he closed his eyes he saw the large hulking figure. He could smell the awful odor, and he could still hear the blood curdling scream in his ears.

Finally daylight came. The boy and his Father ventured up onto that Forest Service Road.

When they found the Car the boy could not believe his eyes. It was no longer in the ditch. It was sitting beside the Road as if parked. The Father looked at the boy and said he thought it was stuck. The boy was perplexed. It was stuck in the ditch he told his Dad. The Father surmised that someone must have come along and pulled it out. Yes, the boy thought, that must have been what happened.

They exited their Car to dead silence. Not a bird singing, no sounds at all. Both of them felt as if they were being watched. A spooky feeling that gave them both the creeps. The boy turned to ask his Dad if he felt like he was being watched, but saw his Father scanning the hillsides around them. I know his Dad said, I feel it too.

They walked over to the once stuck Car. They walked around to the passenger side and froze in their tracks. In the mud in the ditch were the biggest footprints either had ever seen. They looked like a bare footed man's but much larger. They estimated that they were 18 inches long by about 7 inches wide. They stared in slack mouth amazement. They looked at the ground around the Car and noticed the marks leading out of the ditch. The Father knelt down and examined the marks, and looked carefully at the Car. He stood and looked at his Son and told him that whoever, or whatever had got the Car out of the ditch had pushed, or pulled it out. The skid marks out of the ditch were plain to see. The Car had been pushed, or pulled SIDEWAYS out of the ditch! They checked the road on the other side of the Car. No tire marks from another vehicle, just more faint huge footprints.

The boy now shaken told his Father the entire story of what had happened the night before. The Father listened intently to all his Son told him. Once the boy finished he told him that considering all he had just found, and what his Son had told him, only a Bigfoot could be responsible. Bigfoot the Son said, Bigfoot is just a fairy tale. The Father looked and smiled as he reminded his Son that fairy tales do not push Cars out of ditches!

They say to this day that on certain Summer nights in the Carberry Creek area a strange horrible odor can be smelled. Campers at Applegate Lake have been awakened by horrible screams echoing from hillsides. Does this mythic beast really exist? Are you brave enough to venture in to the Moonlight to find out?

I hope you Copyright it though because you never know, it may end up on a BF Database as a legitimate Sighting Report one day...wink.gif

Wow a helpful Sasquatch!

Most witnesses reports claim them to just ignore pople or try to scare poeple off at best to attack and even abduct at worst.

Great read though!
