"Follow-up By BFRO Investigator Ima Sucker"

"Qualifications: Attended four BFRO expeditions, listens to classical music and loves her cat."

It really is a shame that the most comprehensive database of sighting data on the web is now being polluted with this clickish following of unqualified sheep. These "Investigators" have little to no formal scientific training. Why these bio's are even being posted is beyond me.

An advertising gimmick

These "investigators" are as far from that as I am from being female.

I hate to say that but it is what it is and theres no getting around it

Maybe that's all they can get? rofl02.gif Anyone with an ounce of common sense or an iota of brains figures out quickly that they are full of BS. yuk.gif
Teresa
I think you're painting with too broad a brush. There are good people in the organization.
wildwoman
As with any large organization there are the good and the bad. I usually prefer a narrow brush but my medium of choice is colored pencil.
Teresa
I never did much good with colored pencils. wink.gif

OK, I'm wearing my skirt and garters side so I am in tune with my feminine side ( no pics- it would be as bad as a frontal nude of Janet Reno)

my statement isnt about personalities- its about performance

Its no different that asking a laywer to perform surgery and asking an MD to represent you in a murder trial because they are both "doctors" ( holding a Doctorate)

Conducting a good and proper investigation is pretty much a standard science done by professionals every day.

Theres no lline in the sand where John or Jane is or is not qualified to be or wear the title of investigator.

Heres where the problem creeps in- when a person wears the title and claims the rank WITHOUT adhereing to the standards associated with a position and tries to pass off "junk" as the fruits of legitimacy.

It simply cannot be both ways.

One cannot "investigate" without "investigating" so with that said- if one doesnt "investigate" then the title of "investigator" is invalid thus are all fruits of this alleged investigation.

Its not about "good people" ( I'm sure they are all good people)- its about what they present and the fruits ( it it a good INVESTIGATION)- they are not interchangable.

The line must be drawn somewhere or all efforts are lost

When I said "good people" I meant good investigators. I simply didn't say it. It was implied.

That is so a mental image I did not need! I knew where you were coming from. And I agree. You can say you are anything, but when you have to present the facts and don’t have the bacon to back it, it makes you look the fool (and who will believe a fool for long). Some of the investigators I have talked to over there hold some credence with me, while other certainly hold none. You kinda know them when you read their after interview reports.

LT, I know you served in the Army during the pink era, but man why did you let it stick! LOL!

cool.gif In the best of all possible worlds there would be a fully professional Krantz, Bindernagel, Meldrum, Heuvelmans, Napier, or Sanderson, etc., coordinating every BFRO witness contact and investigation, but that is simply not practical. There just aren't enough qualified Piled-Higher-and-Deepers willing to sacrifice their professional credibility in the interests of squatchy, especially in full public view. So instead we must rely on committed lay individuals who are willing to invest their own time, energy and money in the interests of furthering the general body of knowledge on the subject. It ain't a perfect world, but at least someone is contacting these witnesses; at least someone is demonstrating to them that somebody does care that they saw something out of the ordinary; at least an effort is being made. Without such motivated individuals the largest database of its kind in the world would not even exist and there would be damned little left for Forum folks to discuss. Like it or not, for better or worse, worts and all, the BFRO sightings database is quite possibly the best BF educational tool on the planet.

"Lay" person doesn't necessarily mean incompetent.
There are standards for investigative research laid out by the scientific community that can easily be followed by any layman with enough sense to tie his/her own shoes.
If they want their "scientific organization" to be better embraced by the "scientific community", then why not follow more closely to these standards?

i think the BFRO is one of the greatest things since sliced bread.that does not mean i agree with the way it is managed.it does seem that the more money you spend with them on expeditions the more of an expert you are considered.there seems to be trouble with recruitment of investigators who can pour the piss out of the boot.these are just my personal observations.

Gotta disagree with that. The best educational tool as far as BF goes is doing it yourself. Experiment, test, investigate or whatever. But the bigest hurdle IMO is people not doing it for themselves and relying on the information provided for them by others and either NOT being able to or making the effort to weed out the good from the bad. If you're basing any research that you're doing yourself on bad information from another source then the results you get are all but useless. You may as well stick a map and on the wall and use a dart to guess where the best possible area near you to even possible see a BF might be.

"Unqualified sheep" huh? Really? What exactly qualifies someone to search for a large species of primate that technically isn't supposed to exist in the first place ? "Beyond you?" by the shallowness of your post I would bet money that the act of intimacy between a man and a woman is way beyond you. Get a life.......

Since you made your warning public, I'll follow suit.

You need to get past it and move on. If you want to be a productive member of this forum, that's fine, but this continuous bashing of the staff here will only get you a higher warning. Drop it.

We don't need another thread where we can bash the BFRO, and we don't need BFRO members making rude comments.

Therefore, this thread is closed.
