I was coming home from work and was on hwy 787 between Romayor and Rye, Texas. There was a curve in the road, two small houses on the left side and after the houses another curve. The road then goes straight for a little ways. I had just looked at the clock on the radio and it was 1:34 am. I was going about 55 mph and I saw something on the right side of the road. This tall thing crossed in front of my car. It was quick when it crossed the road and when it got on the left side where there was a dirt road I saw a distinctive leg and arm moving back like someone does when they are running. There was an iron pipe gate on the dirt road and the road goes into a clearcut forest. It had long reddish brown hair and was about 6-7 feet tall.

hey mystical hominid good morning yes definetly i agree with your above reply regarding this sighting but the eyewittness could have tried to slow the car down to get a better description of the creature seen. did this supervisor write up a official report regarding this sighting. did the eyewittness go back to the sighting location with researchers. is this sighting location on google maps im just wondering. thanks bill smile.gif thumbup.gif

Bill, it would have been great to have a picture, but not as easy an answer as it seems. It was 1:30 in the morning and he was returning home. How many of us carry a camera ready in the car, even as researchers? With a quarter moon and light fog at that time of night most point & shoot cameras would be worthless at anything over 20 feet. He would have had to have had a full DSLR rig with a good flash unit, and even then fog can fool auto-focus. Plus we don't know whether there was adequate road shoulder (except for the gated entrance) to stop or turn around. I've driven through those areas as my son went to college near there and there are logging trucks using those roads at seemingly all hours and they aren't slowing down, so the road conditions can be hazardous as well.
I also think, even in many of these cases, having a camera ready in the car doesn't always make the shot available to you. As an avid wildlife photographer, there have been many times I've seen an animal along the road which would be great to shoot, but there's no place in the immediate vicinity (like a few hundred yards or so) to stop or turn around and when you do get back using the earliest turnaround, they are gone. Plus just trying to shoot out of a car, much less a moving one, requires a lot of practice and knowledge of your camera to get a usable shot. But, and this is a big but, it doesn't mean we shouldn't try.
I, like you, am always frustrated by reading sighting like this where I wish they had a camera. But only a miniscule part of our population have cameras that could take a decent picture in conditions like this, and a even smaller portion of them carry their cameras, much less coming home from work at 1:00 AM. I feel your pain.
Thanks.
