So, the four speakers at the event will be Dr. Jeff Meldrum, M.K. Davis, Eric Altman and Igor Bourtsev. The event begins at 4:00 EST Saturday, May 17th, again at the Lodge at Salt Fork State Park, and runs till 10:00 EST. I'm looking forward to this weekends conference. Great lineup of speakers, meeting fellow bigfooters, and the tour of the park on sunday should be a great time. I just read some sighting reports and track finds from within the park over the last couple years on eastern ohio bigfoot site, very interesting that some were near picnic sites just off the beaten path. Ohio and Squatchie, here we come.

I attended the event and have been to better and to worse. Unfortunately, the person at the top of my reasons for going, Igor B, was a no show for circumstances beyond control. I wish I had known that as I doubt it was a truly last minute cancellation, although Dr. M was worth the trip.

The lodge is a nice one, as are most of Ohio's State Park lodges. I arrived a little late but was able to find a seat as there were ones and twos scattered around unfilled. My count was the room was set up for 360 with about 90-95% of the seats filled for the first speaker, counting the folks milling around I would say right around 340 people to start. It looked like most were the people who are really into bigfoot, with a few families and twos and threes scattered in that had come out of curiousity.

The first speaker was one of the modern four horsemen of squatchery Eric A. Between the heat generated by the audience, his dulcet tone and his approach to chronicling Pa. reports from historical newspaper articles up to recent events, there were a number of folks nodding off. I think I even saw Dr M. do one or two of those head bounces you get when you start to fade off and catch yourself. One report that this speaker highlighted was a deer stash find. Most of the evidence in that particular case, where and how the deer was stashed and reported screams, led me to think that it was related to the namesake of the Penn State mascot, a nittany lion. I get a little disappointed when I see people jump to bigfoot when there is a more rationale way to explain the event. I had thought about asking him about the controversial beyond the edge show, but after seeing the way he and others handled one guy when he asked about the interdimensional sasquatch, I decided it was not worth being treated the same way. The group think factor was high.

People began to stir after Eric A as there was an auction, the guy had enthusiam and was entertaining, and then a short break. A few families who I think had made the trip to see what this whole bigfoot thing was about used that break as a chance to depart.

Dr. M went next and was pretty good. He is polished, professorial and cordial. He spoke mostly about a recent trip to China for MosterQuest. One interesting thing he mentioned was he has found some common traits among castings from the US and China. I spent what I had allowed myself for purchases at the event on his book, he was really nice in signing it.

After Dr. M there was a longer dinner break. It was a relief to get outside and get some cool fresh air. I then walked along the vendor's row, a bit of a bigfoot flea market. When the event reconvened, there was another noticeable drop in the attendance and mostly the hard-core bigfooters were the ones sticking it through for MK Davis. I'm not sure if it was the heat in the room, and or if some bigfooters come in for the weekend and rough it without showers, but it smelled like a true skunk ape was sitting in there somewhere close to me. I was tempted to call it a day but I did want to hear what he had to say given the recent flap on cryptomundo. Davis was fairly interesting, he knows the Patty film and he certainly does work alot with it. He made some effort to say he is an observer of the film and reporting on what he finds as opposed to analyzing the film. He showed a few things indicative of Patty being a person, braids and a top knot. I am on the fence in terms of some of his work, the extreme amount of enlargement and the enhancement process, smoothing, filling, opens up a real chance for anomalies, film defects and a person's imagination to create things that might not be there. He does work very hard at his art and he deserves credit for the effort and study he invests in that film. I think people need to remember just how small that figure is on the film to start with.

I left after MK Davis, as there is no good and fast way to get from there to home.

hey waverley wow awesome above new report about how you injoyed the resent ohio bigfoot conferance. good morning bill green new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
bigfootboy
Mr. Waverly guy,

I'm following my own advice and taking your post about me at the Ohio Conference off the forum. I sent you a Private message. I do not expect a reply as you have bashed me before. I sent you PM, and as I suspected, you did not reply to it.
bigfootboy
Oh and for the record.....

I NEVER claimed to be a four horseman, a modern four horseman, or anything of the sort. A listener who tuned into the show submitted the statement and Sean Forker read it on the air. If anyone would have bothered to tune in the following week, would have heard us state, we did not agree with that statement. But that was never mentioned.

For those who enjoyed my presentation, I thank you for your kind words. I am not a professional speaker or claim to be an expert in anything. I do field research (probably more than most who bash me.), and I try to remain as objective as possible. For those who felt I was claiming the deer kill issue was comitted by a Bigfoot, obviously weren't paying attention. We found it very possible due to the circumstancial evidence, but I stated, we found no hard conclusive proof to show it was. So someone must have been "nodding" as he claimed others were.

For those who did not like my presentation you are certainly welcome to your opinion. I am sorry you did not. I wasn't there to impress anyone, keep anyone on the edge of their seats, or force anyone to agree with what I was presenting. I simply talked about the reports we received over the past few years. I didn't, don't, and won't ever expect to compete with, live up too, or be compared to such researchers as "DR" Jeff Meldrum, He is a college proffesor and an expert on the subject. Keating asked me to attend, speak on reports in PA, and thats what I did. I am not a "polished" professional speaker, nor do I claim to be one. I am just someone who does his best in the field to research, and as I've said all along, If you like me fine, if you don't thats fine too. I could really care less.
John Cartwright
The conference was very nice. Finally getting to meet so many of you was great. I cannot say enough about the hard work
Don Keating did on organising the conference, he deserves all the credit in the world. The speakers were all very interesting. The park and lodge were beautiful. I hope we can all do it again in the future.
bwillard
Eric, don't worry about it. You did a GREAT job on your part. Some folks don't know how to do a proper review of a presentation. There is this thing called "tactful". Constructive criticism can go a long way, but the typical negative remarks that continue about a subject that has long been put in the closet don't surprise me any.

By the way Eric, I did NOT get the idea that you were saying the deer issue was done by Bigfoot. As a matter of fact, I remember you saying that you all were completely unsure of what happened.

Anyway, a BIG KUDOS to Don Keating for another GREAT conference!!! new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
Reverend Strone
Well I'm envious of those who got to go. I would have loved to have attended the conference, but the distance was just a little too far in this instance. Nonetheless, it's great to hear reports. I hope other attendees post their's too so those of us who didn't make it can get an impression of how it all went and what kinds of new information was presented from several different perspectives. Thanks guys and hopefully someone can talk Don into doing another one. smile.gif

Oh and as an aside, may I make a plea as someone genuinely interested in reading attendees' impressions that we keep this thread focussed on the conference and its content and not use it as a forum for opening old wounds. It'd be disappointing to see the discussion derailed by another battle and end up being closed and I think we owe more respect than that to Don Keating for the time, trouble and expense that he has put himself to in organising this event.

Thanks guys and gals. smile.gif

Hey Rev and fellow posters,

My apologies to you and the other readers for me defending myself once again. Instead of my sharing the great time I had at the conference and talking about what a thrill it was to share the podium with M.K. and Dr. Meldurm, I end up defending myself yet again.

I have no issue with constructive criticisim of me or anything involving me. If someone didnt like my presentation, more power to them. I would have let the post slide if it werent for certain terms used to describe me in the posting, and the whole blog talk radio show incident being brought up once again. I took my issue privately with the person and hopefully it will be resolved there but I doubt it.

I personally enjoyed the conference and had a great time talking with all those I met, knew before hand and shared conversation with. I was available all weekend for anyone who wanted to come and talk with me one on one, person to person and discuss anything that was on their minds. I don't hide, I'm always available for anyone who wishes to contact me. I've learned alot in my 27 years in researching the subject and 11 years of field research. For anyone who ever had a question about me, my research, my thoughts, my actions, I've always been available and as I feel very approachable. I'm not an expert, I'm not perfect, I'm still learning like everyone else and I certainly DO NOT claim to have any answers. But should anyone ever wish to talk to me, with me or go out in the field with me, can easily contact me.

I'm hopeful Don will hold another conference and perhaps after the dust settles and he gets some much needed rest and time to reflect, he will reconsider. If not, its been a great 20 years of despite what others might say, a great conference. It takes alot of work, dedication, time and money to put one of these together and for Don to do it every year for 20 years really says alot. I tip my hat to my good friend, Mr. Keating and hope that if he decides to call it quits, perhaps one day he will bring the conference back.

No need to apologise to me Eric. A comment was made at you and you responded. That all seems reasonable to me and I wouldn't suggest you shouldn't be allowed to defend yourself if someone makes a remark about you. I'm just hoping that is where it will rest and that others don't take up the battle for either side and derail the thread. smile.gif

Can you please tell me what "circumstantial evidence" you had linking the deer carcass to sasquatch/Bigfoot?
Thank you.

Hey Eric-

Regretfully, I couldn't make the conference, but we'll be hosting Dr. Meldrum, MK etc... in Santa Cruz, CA later this summer. Hey, no need to explain yourself or your presentation to anybody who's combative with you. I spent enough time with you in Willow Creek last fall to know that your a great guy who enjoys what he does, doesn't jump to conclusions or judgement of others and never hesitates to show anybody else the patience or respect to give them the floor and see what they are all about. Unfortunately, it's not always returned in this field, but as you know it goes with the territory and is part of the game. That gentlemen is entitled to his own opinion, but I know although you operate with an open mind and make no apologies for that, I've never ever seen or heard of you jamming your opinions or ideas down anyone else's throat. It's more then I can say for a lot of other people, including myself at times.
I look forward to eventually getting out in the field together my friend as hopefully we'll get you back in CA soon.

Bart

hey eric im glad you had a wonderful time & presantation at the ohio conferance. thanks bill smile.gif
JayleeD
Anybody take pictures they could share?

Thanks
bigfootboy
Yes Jaylee D, I have photos I can post, as does Henry May. He has quite a bit more than I do. Either of us would be happy to post them. Bart, great to hear from you, thanks for the kind words. Best wishes on your upcoming event. I hope to get back out to CA in the next few years once the economy settles down. Might be my next vacation. Rockin it. If you go to the pa bigfoot society website and click on photos you will see some of the photos of the deer, plus the other evidence found. Some of the cirmcumstancial evidence that was found, 17 inch large foot shaped impressions found very close to the carcass, tree breaks, and trees ripped (roots and all) out of the ground, the screams the witnesses reported for close to two weeks after their initial encounter on July 4, 2006. Along with no signs of the deer being killed by bullet, bow and arrow, being cut by a knife, and no claw or teeth marks around the neck. Typically what a large cat will do when killing its prey. It bites the animal around the neck and drains the juggler. The forest looked like it had been torn apart, and no there was not a storm in the area prior to the findings. As I stated, it was all circumstancial evidence, and could mean nothing. However the family feels it was more than one Bigfoot creature responsible. As I stated in the presentation, we are unsure what was responsible. Unfortunately due to lack of funding we can not afford to have the animal removed and taken to a animal forensic specialist to determine what killed the deer. Yes the carcass is still there in the tree. However, it is only bones and hyde remaining. If you want to see some photos of it, I would be happy to email them to anyone. If you can tell me what killed the deer, we are happy to hear all opinions. Just private message me your email address, and I will send them to anyone. Maybe someone can make a better determination. I am always willing to hear other opinions, thoughts, etc.

Bigfootboy...
Thanks for the info. I checked out your site and looked at the pictures.
Based on what I can see from the photos and info provided - I don't have a clue what killed the deer. Your guesses are as good as mine.
Good luck in your future endeavors!
bigfootboy
I would be happy to share with you some of the fresh photos that show the deer, and what was not posted on the forum. They are pretty graphic. I had an experienced hunter Sunday look at the photos and he too was stumped. He does not feel it was a cat or other predator/human that killed the deer. He has no explanation either. If you would like to see the additional photos not posted on our website, please email me and I will be happy to forward them onto you for your viewing pleasure. The photos on the site are taken about a week later. The ones I have from the witness are taken the day of the discovery. These photos are fairly grusome and not for the faint of heart. Please understand and I will state this for everyone who has read or will read my post.

"I DO NOT KNOW, NOR DO THE PBS INVESTIGATORS KNOW WHAT KILLED THIS DEER!"

There is speculation of course and the possibility of a Bigfoot being responsible, but without the definative conclusive proof and no eyewitness who saw the deer being placed and killed, it is all up for debate.

If you wish to see the photos that aren't on the website, please email me at bigfootboy_2000@yahoo.com. I will be happy to share them with you.
rockinkt
Thank you for your generous offer to supply me with additional photos.
To tell the truth - you were on site and had the best opportunity to examine the carcass - which you obviously did in detail. thumbup.gif
I doubt that I could glean anything more from your photos than what you guys did on the ground and I certainly have no reason to suspect you missed anything.

I wish I didn't live quite so far from Ohio I would have enjoyed the conference I am sure. I have heard MK and Dr. Meldrum speak before and found them interesting. Eric, we have not meet but I really think you guys have done a good job on your PA website. Interesting photos of the deer. First guess is a cat but then it is missing some tell tale signs.

Thank you for your reviews of the conference and what happened.

I did not hear that this is the last one. Did they announce that at the conference itself?
davemcc65
Eric I thought your presentation of Bigfoot in Pennsylvania was very informative and interesting. I had a blast at the conference the entire weekend and thoroughly enjoyed all the speakers presentations and didn't see anyone nodding off as posted above. The lodge and park were beautiful, the staff very professional and helpful. If this was the last Ohio conference then I'm really glad I went, if not I'll be back next year. Kudo's to Don Keating, all the speakers and also the attendees for making it a memorable weekend.
911Guy
I have only one thing to say about Dr Meldrum "nodding off" at the conferance. I have been driving a old dirt bumpy road, with the worst driver going way too fast and seen Dr. Meldrum nod off. Sooo.... Doc if you read this you know I am playing.

Glad everyone seemed to get something out of the conferance and hope it continues.

Hey, I attended the conference, coming all the way from Philadelphia. You might remember me Eric, I was the guy in glasses who mistook you for "Mr. Keating". I also had a camera and was filming the conference for my senior project. I enjoyed your presentation a lot. Joe Biello, who is my sponsor for the project, showed me the same deer photos, so it was interesting to see them in a larger scale and more explicitly explained. You also posted pictures of the deer that Joe did not have, so that was interesting. I was wondering if you can send them to me and if I could use them in my presentation? I tried sending you a message, but I just registered and I'm not sure if I am allowed to yet.

PS I (along with my partner for the project) went with Joe and a man named Steve Ujvari, who is a member of your society, to investigate a sighting in the Poconos. It was a great experience and added a lot of insight for our presentation.

PPS I am skeptical about the existence of Bigfoot, yet open-minded (covering myself, if they don't exist, I'm right, if they do, I'm not wrong)

PPPS One suggestion for your presentation: Put the font color into a darker color, it became a little bit strenous to read some of the pages after awhile. However, you did explain each page in depth, so it's not too big of a deal.
John Cartwright
I wanted to again express what a great weekend I had at this conference. Gatting to meet so many of my internet Bigfoot friends was truly amazing. Don Keating and ALL 3 speakers did a wondeful job. I was also finally able to get into the woods again for the first time in 25 years. A unforgetable experience for sure.
