I just wanted to let you all know that I have been in touch with Dave Sidoti and he told me via email that they found some footprints, hair, and scat last weekend in Green Swamp West. I asked him about the possibility of black bears, but none of us has ever seen any bears or tracks in the Green Swamp. Not sure why, they just are not there.

Dave emailed me some pictures of one footprint. It is about 8 inches long and 3 wide, in sandy soil. One of the other researchers, Diane Stocking, is having the hair analyzed.

I will post the pictures once Dave responds to my request to do so. The print is rather indistinct, and small, but he claims to see a mid-tarsal break in it.

Could it be a human track? Of course it could.

I will try to talk to Dave on the telephone sometime this week.

Thanks for the update. I am looking forward to seeing the photos when you get them.
Robert
Sorry,

Dave has not returned my call or responded to my email yet. He must be very busy with work. As soon as I hear from him I will post.
Robert
Dave just responded. I asked him to provide some additional information, such as where the tracks were found and why he thought they could not be human.

QUOTE
Yes it's OK to post them.
They were found on a fire trail near a dirt road not too far away, about 100 feet from the road.
The river isn't far from where the track was found, about 1/4 mile.
No way that it could be human, it had the look of a Sasquatch footprint as you see in other track photos. With the center break in the middle of the foot as well as 5 toes.

More information from Dave:

QUOTE
Ben Mills is a Hillsboro county correction officer and had an encounter 20 years ago in the Green Swamp area when he was hunting out there.

I don't if there is any on going activity in Kissimmee but there has been some in the past.

Hi, Rob! Thanks for sharing your info. Has he said anything about what he did with the hair and scat? Also, is that white stuff sand?
Robert
Hopeful,

I have not heard anything yet about the poop or hair.

We calls it 'sugar sand' and it's a bear to get your vehicle out when you get stuck!

I can imagine that it is a bear to cast as well. Have you tried spraying it first with hairspray first to solidify the track first and then cast it after the hairspray has dried.

I am sorry Robert. But I would have to say that track is from a bear. The rear foot is sideways a bit, but you can see the claw marks the rear foot made along the left side of the print.

Inconclusive in my book... sorry guys...

Green Swamp, NC is in fact a sanctuary for black bear, woodpeckers and a variety of vegetation including orchids. http://216.27.49.98/news_stories/pg00_News...r_Sanctuary.htm
Robert
Thanks for that link jenalak. I did not know that there was also a Green Swamp in North Carolina!

The Green Swamp I am referring to is in Central Florida, and there are no bears here. For some reason the bulk of Florida black bears are just about a hundred miles north of here.

These natural communities support populations of an estimated 330 species of wildlife. Among this population are more than 30 threatened or endangered species, including the Florida black bear, Florida scrub jay and wood stork. Widespread species such as white-tailed deer, wild turkey, alligators, and numerous songbirds and wading birds are also common throughout the Green Swamp.

Ah, I see it. So there are some bears out there. That's interesting.

Neither myself or anyone I know who hunts that has ever seen a bear or a bear track, while in Ocala and Wekiwa, north of the Green Swamp, we have all seen them many times.

I actually have friends from some other boards that are Floridians http://www.psifly.com/cr2/index.php?topic=15823.0 Oona is in FLA. She's Monocan and her husband is Seminole. Of course there is the Larry Carlson video there on Sasquatch

Hi Robert,

I met with Dave while vacationing in Lakeland Florida early last year. I would like to extend my services to identify the hair found during the expedition. I have been working with animal/human hair identification using professional equipment for the last several years. I can supply photomicrographs (images from the microscope) of the hair found at the expedition site so you can document the research findings. Please let me know if there is any interest. I don’t charge for the hair identification work. The VBRO presently has suspected Bigfoot hair being tested for DNA at an overseas laboratory, the results should be known by the end of February.

Thank you.

William,

I will forward your message to Dave. I don't believe he is a member here.

This is the latest information he sent to me about these pictures. I asked him where specifically the tracks were found after another member here exchanged some emails with me about them.

QUOTE
Hello Rob,
Yes the tracks were about 1/4 mile away from the camping area and the tracks were leading onto private property where the owner has corn feeders all on his land for hunting dear.
Now in those pictures I sent don't show the "hinge" of the footprint that was in the middle of the foot. As you know, you've seen these on some of the footprint casting out there from Sasquatches. We never saw an over lap print like you do bear tracks. Also, there haven't been any bear in this area (Green Swamp) that anyone or F/W officers have seen as well.
So, I don't know for sure what it could be as of now. It sure has the signs though.
