time of sighting: Saturday, August 25th, 8:20-25

Well, I finally saw one again.

I was on a Polaris, exploring trails with a golden retriever, Benny. I was in a heavily forested area near the 42 outside of Coos Bay, Oregon, where I had been taking care of a ranch owned by a good friend.

I was coming down an overgrown vehicle path, when about 50 meters ahead of me I saw a hairy biped, app 7-8 feet tall dash across the road and down into thick brush. I sped up and stopped right before the place where I saw the creature, noting that the creature had disturbed some grass in the middle of the path. Not really looking for squatch that morning, I didn't think to bring my digicam. Benny was in the back of the polaris, whining and alerting to the brush downhill where the creature had disappeared to. I noticed an odor in the air, much garbage in the sun. I peered into the brush to see where the thing might be hiding, and I was really getting the hair-raising sensation, so I am thinkin g that the creature was watching me.

I got on the polaris and dback up away from the spoor area and turned around, racing back to the ranch to get the camera. Returning 20 minutes later, Benny was not acting nervous, and I could not smell the garbage odor, so I suspect that the creature had moved off while I was away. The scuff mark in the grass was not worth photographing or casting as there were no toe or heel impressions. The soil condition was hard. I looked around for any other signs or tracks, but I could not detect any.

October 2006, Middle Creek area, Myrtle Point, Oregon.

Girlfriend went to check the mailbox at her daughter's new home, and noticed that there were several flyers placed at the boxes warning local residents of Bigfoot peeking into windows.
PsychedelicShroom
I'd like to add, since I have no editing capability that the creature was dark brown in coloration. I am really excited about this sighting because this means I have a possible population location to investigate and trap.

As for the Flier report, this is something my girlfriend told me, and she will be joining us soon on this website, as she believes. Her daughter and her husband believe they have heard bigfoot on several occasions, but I have not been able to investigate.
WildWomanOfTheWoods
You mentioned you had seen one before...was it in this same area?
Mystical Hominid
Thanks for the report Psych'. This could be a good opportunity to gather evidence. How about a pic of that flier? That's interesting as well.

Yeah & do you know who wrote up the Flyers ??

Local Officials maybe or just local Residents ??
CuriousJ
Thanks for sharing your sighting. I know the feeling of seeing potential evidence and not having your camera along. I hope you're able to continue to do some investigating in that area - maybe one of the local research organizations can help set you up with some game cams, etc. Good luck and, of course, keep us posted!
PsychedelicShroom
In answer to the frst question. This last sighting was over 25 years and 15 miles away from the first sighting.

Unfortunately, Brenda cannot find the flier she had, or I would post it. I will, however, investigate further, maybe posting some fliers of my own.
billgreen2005bigfoot
hey psyche your very welcome for posting this new oregon sasquatch report its very interesting. do you have a photo of the sighting location or drawing of the sasquatch seen. good late afternoon bill green p.s. other oregon bigfoot evidence or activity etc smile.gif
PsychedelicShroom
Well, some more information about the sighting area. I've spoken to a man who has been screamed at twice by what he believes is sasquatch, and he has pointed me to other people who have experiences, as well as a possible subject who is reported to have the lower jawbone and teeth of a sasquatch. We shall see. I am not too hopeful about actually finding any physical remains, as anytime one hears about such a thing, all of a sudden they disappear.

I have discovered that sasquatch, to these people, doesn't seem so remarkable. The general feeling about the creature is that it is just another possible hazard in the woods to avoid, like a bear or a cougar. The gentleman I spoke to seemed incredulous that anyone would be interested, however he pointed me out to other avenues of investigation, as he is loathe to have anyone intrude into his personal life.

My intent with this field of investigation is to disturb the community as little as possible. Observation has taught me that beating brush and disturbing the field is not good if you actually want to find the creature.
Robert
What kind of community is it? Are they Native Americans? Are are they just your typical rural isolationists?

I just looked at Middle Creek on Google. Is this where you saw it? Very squatchy looking (whatever that means) smile.gif>

I once remarked that the part of Oregon in which I live is like the Ozarks of the West Coast. The locals in the area in which my study is focused are the woodsy, folksy type of people. I haven't spoken to any of the Coquille Tribe, yet.

psyc here is a link to the terra site you could pinpoint the spot on there and pist a pic

What is a Flyer? Also, I've often thought it would be a great idea to assemble a hat camera to wear as one travels about their daily business in an area where BFs are known to frequent...particularly in the evening hours while it's still light. This seems to be the time of day they go out the most?

I ride horses and have often thought of a bridle camera. When spooked a horse will often snort, bolt and then turn to directly face their opponent before bolting or backing away again, all within an instant. If just for a moment after they faced off with a BF, I might get a good shot of one.

"Ozarks of the West Coast". coverlaugh.gif I KNOW that one where I live in No. Cal as well..

Silhouette, A Flyer is also known as a "handbill. Normally letter size (8 1/2" by 11"), though sometimes smaller. They can be handed out, posted on a bulletin board or under a cars windshield wipper.
WmRoy
In this case, a 'flyer' is a poster printed up and posted on the neighborhood mailboxes.

hey researchers wow great above new updates here indeed. good afternoon bill green smile.gif

How far south on the 42 from the 101 junction? Very "squatchy" looking, indeed! (We know exactly what that word means, Robert.) bye.gif
Robert
I wonder what happened to the 'shroom? I guess he's out there lookin' today.

Good for him. Wish I was there.
hopeful
I wish I were there too! Maybe Shroom will get back to us shortly. I'd like to hear about the first encounter.

Actually, I should get off my computer chair and go out myself. There are plenty of good places here in Arkansas to look.

Well, I havent been back, yet. I'm working ten hour days, and I really have to work my butt off this week so I can buy my home.

If you are a serious investigator iunterested in doing some of the footwork, PM me, telling me of your qualifications and references, to learn the exact hotspots. I can't spend that much time investigating this area, becaause of financial obligations.

I am serious about not disturbing the community.
peteyweestro
hey physcedelic, are you from santa clarita in so cal?i'm in palmdale, not to far from clarita...did you know there were some supposed squatch sightings in big rock creek area and in angeles national crest....good to know that someone else from near me is also interested in sas

This is my excuse too, and it's a damned good one. About the only people who can do this kind of field research are those who are independently wealthy, or retired.

I agree about not disturbing the community. The less commotion the better.
PsychedelicShroom
I will be teaming up with another investigator on this case who is fairly local.

Excellent! Keep us posted! applause.gif

Is a polaris an ATV?

Regarding cameras: I'm a big advocate of hat/helmet cameras. But what I've recently acquired is a small, always-with-you point-and-shoot camera with a multitude of features, including advanced image stabilization, wide-angle lens, optical zoom, optical viewfinder (as well as a large, bright LCD), little shutter lag, movie-taking ability (with sound), and only a 6 oz weight. It's the size of a 1-inch thick credit card, and hangs in its belt case unobtrusively. It's the Canon Powershot 800, about $300 on Amazon. (Plus a bit more for an adequate memory card, and a case. I'd also buy a gorillapod tripod.) Here's a link:
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Digi...3365&sr=1-1

If you go into the customer reviews you'll find my July 25, 2007 "Summary of Reviewers' Comments," which lists the great, good, and needs-improvement points that previous reviewers (hundreds of them) noted. Many reviewers think it's head-and-shoulders above the competition in its category. There are a few negative reviews, but they seem like outliers. The main problem seems to be that a few lemons come off the production line. If you get one, and you've bought from amazon's store, return it for an exchange. Several of the unhappy reviewers did that and changed their reviews.

I searched my Topo! map and found a Middle Creek County Park, on Middle Creek of all places, 7.42 miles from hwy. 42 downtown Coquille (Co-keel). Is this the Middle Creek you're referring to?
PsychedelicShroom
Just an Update.

I have spoken to the researcher who will be looking into this with me, and I have discovered that he was already researching some reports in the same area. I am very excited about this coincidence.

I will be meeting with this researcher today to discuss the area, and hopefully we can get some more information to post here.

I just want to let everyone know that this topic is not so much an official report as it is an investigatory journal.
WildWomanOfTheWoods
Very cool, Shroom! I look forward to your future updates!
PsychedelicShroom
Just a small update.

Due to many things going on in my personal/professional life, I have not had the time to research as I would like.

In the Middle Creek area, my wife observed a large human figure moving deep in the trees for a couple of seconds one early frosty morning, 2 weeks ago, but couldnt positively identify what she might have saw, as the light was dim, but it wasn't too far away from the Ridges I have been taking a look at.

Have been asking questions of mushroom pickers in the area, but nothing significant to report beyond "I know a guy who knows a guy whose wife knows a woman who..." etc...

When it gets warmer, I'm going to be hitting these areas a little harder on the weekends, with a digital camera. Mushroom prices, as much as 6.00 a pound, are a very good reason to scour the area on my days off, and maybe I will stumble across something. I think this is important, because if there is a creature in thewre, I would rather give it the impression that I am not looking for it, but, rather, looking for one of it's food sources.

I Knew it!! new_guitar.gif My husband and I lived off of Seven Devils Rd. in Coos Bay and spent a lot of time traveling the back roads around Coos County and I always said to him that "This looks like Bf country". Of course, he isn't the kind of person who ever believes in anything unless he has seen it first. Then one day he came home pretty freaked out and told me that he is now a believer! He had an encounter while logging up on Daniels Creek that he said scared him pretty bad. He said that our pitbull dog was even scared, which of course scared my husband even more. He didnt want to talk about the details too much and even asked me not to share with my family, so I believe what he told me. "He said he was bucking up a large Cedar snag, when our dog suddenly came running back to him out of the treeline where he was wandering around and threw himself under my husbands legs, whining. My hubby turned off the saw and looked up towards the treeline. He never said that he had seen something, he said " The hair on his neck stood up and he felt real uncomfortable being there, so he brought the dog home, "cuz the dog was scared" and he didnt want to make it stay there all day scared". Nice try! My husband had never left the woods early when there was prime Cedar to cut, not even when he put a chainsaw into his leg, he worked for 3 more hours with blood filling his boot. So I have always known that he saw something that day that he didn't even want to believe he saw.

Yes, that would be the area, sorry I didn't answer sooner.

Look for Blue Ridge in that area.

The Seven Devil's area IS perfect, but I am loathe to wander back there, because word is that there are several illegal growing ops back there, and I really do hate to stumble into shotgun traps, but once I know more about where to avoid, then I am keen on looking.

Update:

Got response to woodknocking in Blue Ridge area. Didn't record anything, as I was just up in the area, visiting stepdaughter, and decided to look around.

I asked the wife if she would camp with me up there one weekend, and got a flat refusal. After her daughter's experience, she's not too hot on that idea. Neither am I, really. I still can't go into the area of my first sighting at night, even though there is logically no squatch there anymore, as a result of community growth.
WhatWasThat
Iv found tracks about 10 miles south of Bandon on 2 seperate days that were along highway 101 in the mud. They were definatly not perfect but were consistant for about 20 yards. It was pouring rain so they were almost gone a day later, should have had a camera icon_cry.gif

Due to some unpleasant garbage, and the fact that my old home of Coos Bay is a dope-ridden poverty pit, I have moved out of Oregon and back to Los Angeles, so I wont be updating this thread.

I did enjoy the time spent in the woods there, however. If anyone else in Coos County has anything to post here feel free.
